As for their doubts, no one at the scene paid them any attention, because every single person's eyes had already locked onto Baymax and could not move away for even a second.
"Alright, my friends, I know that the idea of a medical robot may be a little shocking and hard to believe for everyone."
"But isn't that exactly the purpose of today's launch event?"
"It is to let everyone experience it personally, and interact up close with our intelligent personal healthcare companion, Baymax!"
"Alright, please calm down and don't get too excited. Next, I'll start calling people up from the audience one by one, and those willing can come up and try it for themselves."
Seeing that almost everyone in Times Square had stopped in place because of Baymax, Killian picked up the microphone and continued speaking with a smile.
"Next, I'd like to invite the beautiful reporter in the second seat of the first row to come up. You can ask Baymax whatever you want and talk with him however you like."
"Of course, I want to emphasize one thing. Baymax is currently only a medical health consultant, not a real person, so please try not to make your questions too off-topic."
After saying that, Killian led the reporter he had just called up to Baymax.
"H-Hello, hello. Sorry, I might be a little excited."
"I really didn't expect to actually see a legendary robot this time."
"Is he really... can I touch him?"
At this moment, the beautiful reporter who had been called up looked as if she had suddenly won a million-dollar jackpot. Her whole body felt light and floaty, and she barely even knew how she had made it onto the stage. After coming back to her senses, she asked Killian excitedly with a flushed face.
Killian did not answer her question. Instead, he tilted his head slightly, signaling toward Baymax.
And sure enough, after noticing Killian's cue, the female reporter immediately turned her gaze to Baymax.
"Of course you may. I have detected that your emotions are currently fluctuating greatly. A warm hug would be very effective in easing your distress."
"May I hug you?"
At that moment, after understanding his boss's signal and seeing the woman walking toward him, Baymax tilted his head slightly, opened his arms, and spoke.
"Wow!!"
"He's definitely a perverted robot."
As Baymax's words fell, jokes and teasing of that kind instantly swept through the entire square.
After all, for a robot, and one that looked male at that, to say something like that to a female reporter, anyone would suspect that the developer might have put some questionable ideas into its programming.
Of course, that was only teasing, and it quickly passed.
The female reporter, after blushing for a moment, simply nodded in agreement.
Then, the reporter felt herself enveloped by something as soft as a marshmallow, as warm as the morning sun, and carrying a faint pleasant scent. It was as if she had returned to childhood and was being held by her mother again.
In an instant, she felt more relaxed than ever before. Work, assignments, her boyfriend, all of it was thrown completely out of her mind.
At that moment, she only wanted to enjoy this beautiful little slice of happiness that belonged to her.
And this scene of the reporter was perfectly captured by the cameras at the side. Watching the change in her expression, the many people present gradually fell silent.
It was as if they were afraid that even the slightest sound might disturb her.
"I have detected that you have fully calmed down. Would you like me to let go of you now?"
After a long while, Baymax, still holding the beautiful reporter, spoke in a friendly tone.
"Ah?! Wow, your body is really so warm. I've never felt skin like yours before."
"Can you tell me what material you're made from? If my bed at home were made from this, I'm sure I'd never have insomnia again."
Prompted by Baymax, the female reporter finally snapped out of that comfortable embrace. Reluctantly, she let go and stepped back, then looked at Baymax's adorably silly expression. Recalling that soft feeling from moments ago, she poked Baymax's belly curiously with her finger and asked.
"My outer shell material is made from ethylene resin. It is safe, non-toxic, and harmless, and has passed strict standards. As for the manufacturing process, I do not have permission to access that information. I am sorry, but I cannot tell you."
"To express my apology, and also as a reward for you just now, here is a strawberry-flavored lollipop. May you always be sweet."
In response to the reporter's question, Baymax honestly explained what it could, then produced a pink lollipop from its hand and offered it to her.
"Wow, thank you. You're really thoughtful. If you were a real person, I'd definitely consider making you my boyfriend."
Looking at the robot in front of her actually giving out a lollipop to comfort people, the female reporter was genuinely stunned. She had never imagined that a robot could perform so well in terms of human-like warmth. Before the lollipop had even touched her lips, she already felt as if she could taste the sweetness.
"According to my database, boyfriend refers to a human male companion, usually used between romantic partners before marriage."
"It generally describes a man and woman in a romantic relationship, when the female party acknowledges the male party as her romantic partner and expresses this by calling him her boyfriend."
"Unfortunately, I am only a robot. But thank you for your recognition. I am very happy, and I also wish that you will find your own boyfriend soon."
In response to the reporter's words, Baymax tilted its head as if pausing for a moment, then answered with a smiling face.
"Thank you. I'm very happy to have met you today. I look forward to seeing you again in the future."
After hearing Baymax's reply, the female reporter could not help laughing. Then, after one final goodbye, she returned to her seat.
...
At this moment, as the interaction between the reporter and Baymax continued on stage,
anyone with eyes could already tell just how huge a sensation this product launch was about to cause.
Because of that, the reporters who had originally not come, or who had come without bringing proper interview equipment, were now so anxious they were nearly jumping in place as they frantically made phone calls.
"Hurry, hurry, hurry! Bring the interview equipment and get over here right now!"
"What?! There's traffic? Then why the hell don't you use the station's news helicopter and fly over here? Do I really need to teach you something that basic? I'm warning you, if you arrive even a little late, I swear I'll shove your head straight up your own ass."
"Kid, sell me your camera. I'll pay! What?! Five hundred dollars? Why don't you just go rob someone? Fine, you win. Hurry up and give it to me! Film too?? One hundred dollars. You win again, you damn little vampire."
As the interviews above continued, every one of the reporters who had secretly come now sounded unusually bold and confident while speaking on the phone to their newspaper offices.
The problem was that by now, Times Square had already been packed full by the massive crowd of tens of thousands of people.
