The cage felt emptier after Morrigan left.
Aire sat with her back against the wall, one knee pulled to her chest. Dried blood remained at the corner of her mouth. She could still taste it every time she swallowed.
The taste irritated her.
Aire closed her eyes.
She refused to accept being trapped here forever. She qould surely find her way back home, even if no one finds their way to her.
The moment she accepted it, she would become exactly what they wanted. They wanted her broken, tamed, and a pet.
Aire opened her eyes.
The black vines remained wrapped around her wrists.
They looked almost relaxed now, as though they knew she had nowhere to go.
Aire stared at them, and sighed softly.
Her stomach growled again. She was beginning to feel dizzy. She badly needed water, and then food.
The sound echoed embarrassingly through the cage.
Aire groaned and leaned her head back against the wall.
