Chapter 24 - Hidden Truths

Leo returned to meet Mr. Miles. As he stood outside the door, a strange feeling settled in his chest. He raised his hand and knocked.

"Come in," came the familiar voice from inside.

Leo stepped in, and Mr. Miles looked up. A faint smile appeared on his face.

"Leo… you're here. It's been a while," he said. "I must say, you were worried about me, weren't you?"

Leo hesitated for a moment.

"Oh… it's just— I mean, yes," he admitted. "But father… how are things going? Especially… against Seth?"

For a brief second, Mr. Miles' expression changed. He looked away, his eyes growing distant.

"Well, everything is under control, Leo," he replied calmly. "You don't need to worry about it. Just focus on your work."

His tone was firm, almost as if he didn't want to continue the conversation.

Leo felt something was off.

"I see…" Leo said quietly.

He didn't push further. Instead, he left the room and went to his own. Lying on his bed, he stared at the ceiling. A strange uneasiness lingered in his mind.

Why does it feel like he's hiding something?

But eventually, exhaustion took over, and he fell asleep.

The next morning, Leo woke up early. Determined, he went to see his father again.

"Father, I wanted to ask you something," Leo said. "When are you coming back? Everyone is missing you… I'm missing you too."

Mr. Miles looked at him, a small smile forming—but this time, there was a hint of sadness behind it.

"Well, Leo… I'll see about that," he replied softly.

Before Leo could say anything more, Mr. Miles turned away and headed toward his car.

Leo stood there, watching him leave.

Something is definitely wrong… he thought. He's not telling me the whole truth.

Unable to ignore his instincts, Leo went to find Mr. Daniel.

"Mr. Daniel," Leo called. "Do you know what father has been doing lately?"

Mr. Daniel looked slightly uneasy.

"Sir Leo… I don't know much," he admitted. "These days, Mr. Miles hasn't been sharing anything about his work. He's handling everything on his own."

Leo frowned.

"And whenever he returns," Mr. Daniel continued, "he looks extremely tired. I tried asking him, but… he never tells me anything."

Leo's suspicion deepened.

"There is something else," Mr. Daniel added after a pause. "A few days ago, I saw Mr. Miles talking to someone."

Leo's eyes sharpened.

"Who?"

"I don't know, sir," Mr. Daniel said. "He was a young man… around your age. From a distance, he seemed… a bit arrogant."

Leo went silent.

A thought struck him instantly.

There's only one person it could be…

"Seth…" Leo whispered under his breath.

His fists slowly clenched.

So father met Seth…

That's why he's been hiding everything from me.

Leo's eyes darkened with determination.

Whatever is going on… I'll find out the truth.
