The last bell rang. Classes were over. Students started leaving the school. I packed my bag and stood up.
When I looked outside, the sky was dark. A few second later, rain started falling. Soon, it became heavy rain.
Many students ran to the gate. Some had umbrellas. Some didn't. I stood near the classroom door.
Then I saw Ritou. She was standing in the hallway. She looked outside at the rain.
"Did you bring an unmbrella?" I asked.
She stook her head "No!!"
I opened my bag.
"I have one", I said.
She looked at me .
"Really?"
I nodded.
We walked outside together. I opened the umbrella. It was small, so we had to stand close.
The rain fell loudly around us. For a moment, we said nothing.
Then Ritou spoke softly, "The rain is nice."
"Yes", I said.
But my heart was beating faster because she was so close to me.
And somehow..... the walk home felt shorter than usual.
