Chapter 62 - Chapter 62 – The Emperor Above Attilan

It was nothing short of a miracle.

Under the pale glow of the moon, a lone black-clad figure hovered in the sky with one arm raised.

Resting on that single arm was a crashed warship hundreds of meters long.

The massive vessel, which should have crushed an entire district of Attilan, now hung motionless in the air as if its weight meant nothing at all.

Gasps spread through the Inhuman crowd.

Then came a wave of astonished cries.

The visual shock was overwhelming.

Only moments earlier, everyone had believed disaster was inevitable. Black Bolt's devastating sonic blast had destroyed several ships, but one of the exploding vessels had begun falling directly toward the city.

If it had landed, countless civilians would have died.

Yet just when despair seemed certain, that black figure appeared and held the warship in place with a single hand.

"God bless Attilan!"

"God bless the Inhumans!"

Many people clasped their hands together in gratitude.

Others could only stare silently.

Dragging a warship hundreds of meters long through the air required strength beyond imagination. Even the strongest Inhumans could not begin to comprehend such power.

And he was doing it with one hand.

Even the gods of legend might not possess that kind of strength.

Meanwhile, the blonde woman who had been fighting like a Valkyrie stood nearby, smiling with excitement along with the others.

The Inhumans exchanged helpless glances.

Clearly, the two of them were allies.

They were grateful for the rescue, of course, but several men couldn't help feeling a little bitter inside. Seeing such a dazzling woman standing beside that man made them feel strangely defeated.

It was a common problem among men.

No matter how powerful another man was, they would never feel he deserved the goddess they admired.

Even Black Bolt silently sighed.

For a brief moment, the usually stoic king felt a faint trace of jealousy.

"Black Bolt, maybe you should speak a little less," someone suddenly said.

Another Inhuman added, "Your power is impressive, but the collateral damage is too severe."

"Look at what almost happened just now. The ship nearly crushed our city."

"And your sonic wave almost destroyed several nearby buildings."

Black Bolt frowned.

Only minutes earlier, when he first appeared and destroyed several enemy ships with a single whisper, everyone had praised him as a hero.

Now, because of one accident, the entire crowd seemed ready to complain.

Unfortunately, Black Bolt could not defend himself.

His power was both his strength and his curse.

Speaking even a single word would unleash destructive sound waves. Because of that, he had long since learned to remain silent.

Now he could only cross his arms and glare at the crowd with an annoyed expression.

Damn this ability.

Just then another wave of cheers erupted.

"Look!"

Hum!

High above the city, Yun Chen made a casual movement.

With one arm still supporting the massive warship, he swung his hand forward.

The gigantic vessel flew through the air like a thrown spear.

The sight stunned everyone.

A warship hundreds of meters long had just been thrown like a toy.

Boom!

The flying ship slammed into a distant Kree aircraft.

Both vessels exploded in a massive fireball that illuminated the night sky.

"Incredible…"

"How strong is that man?"

"He just threw a warship across the battlefield!"

The Inhumans stood frozen in disbelief.

Many of them possessed extraordinary abilities themselves. In their hidden society, powerful individuals were common.

Because of that, the Inhumans had always held a certain arrogance toward ordinary humans.

Their ancestors had inherited advanced technology from the Kree, and many secretly believed they were superior to the rest of humanity.

But tonight shattered that illusion.

First came the Kree Empire.

Now there was this mysterious man.

And the golden Valkyrie fighting beside him.

Who exactly were these people?

Before anyone could relax—

Hum!

Another beam of light suddenly appeared in the sky.

The temperature around Attilan dropped sharply.

A beautiful ice-blue beam descended from Yun Chen's eyes.

"Wow… he's unbelievably handsome."

The freezing ray swept across the battlefield like a blade of frost.

Every Kree soldier attempting to escape was instantly caught in its path.

Where the beam touched the ground, thick frost spread rapidly across the earth. Metal cracked and shattered as ice consumed everything in its path.

The Kree soldiers were cut down instantly.

The battlefield fell silent.

The Inhumans didn't even dare breathe loudly.

They watched the man in the sky with pure shock.

Meanwhile, Carol had no intention of letting the enemy escape.

She shot forward like a golden meteor.

The light flashing from her fingertips turned into precise energy blasts, each one eliminating a fleeing Kree soldier.

Even though the Kree fleet had deployed thousands of troops, they simply could not withstand the combined assault of these two.

Escape was impossible.

Every ship that attempted to retreat was destroyed by Yun Chen before it could even reach the sky.

Less than ten minutes later, the battle was over.

Silence returned to Attilan.

Only burning wreckage and drifting smoke remained to prove how violent the conflict had been.

Medusa supported Crystal as they walked slowly back into the city.

Everywhere they looked, the ground was covered with Kree corpses and shattered aircraft debris.

"Too tragic," Medusa murmured quietly.

She wasn't speaking about the Inhumans.

She meant the Kree soldiers who would never return home.

"You are free."

The voice came from above.

Everyone instinctively looked up.

Yun Chen was slowly descending from the sky.

His black cloak fluttered in the night wind as moonlight illuminated his sharply defined face.

Every pair of eyes followed him.

His presence was overwhelming.

As Yun Chen landed, his gaze swept calmly across the gathered Inhumans.

Those cold eyes seemed to examine every person present.

Gulp.

Many people unconsciously swallowed.

When their eyes met his, an indescribable pressure weighed on their hearts.

It felt like standing before an emperor.

Even Black Bolt lowered his head instinctively.

No one dared speak.

The entire city fell silent except for the sound of wind rustling through the ruined streets.

Then Yun Chen spoke again.

"Inhumans… congratulations."

"You are free now."

He paused briefly.

"But you shouldn't misunderstand the reason."

"You were not saved because of divine mercy."

His voice was calm.

"The Kree Empire offended me."

"So they were destined to die."

The words echoed across the city.

"And you Inhumans were simply saved along the way."

"So there is no need to thank me."

Silence followed.

No one dared respond.

Even five minutes after Yun Chen and Carol departed, the Inhumans remained frozen where they stood.

Finally someone slowly raised their head.

"They're gone," he whispered in relief.
