"Trying to fix it?"
Carol frowned slightly as she watched the man in front of her. The confidence radiating from him made her uncomfortable. In her eyes, this guy was simply too arrogant, almost unbearably so.
But another thought kept distracting her. He seemed to know something about the secret hidden inside her power, and that realization unsettled her far more than his arrogance. A faint confusion appeared on her delicate face as her mind drifted for a split second.
"It's a deadly mistake to get distracted in the middle of a fight."
The sudden voice rang clearly in her ears. The sound was so close it felt like it had come from right beside her.
Too close.
Carol's heart skipped a beat as her eyes snapped forward. A tall, slender figure had already appeared directly in front of her, close enough that she could see the faint curve of his smile.
Damn.
She reacted instantly, crossing her arms in front of her chest and thrusting them forward to form a defensive stance. Even so, the punch that followed carried overwhelming force. With a loud boom, her body couldn't withstand the impact, and she was blasted away like a meteor streaking across space.
Carol tumbled through the void before finally forcing herself to stop. Compared to Ronan the Accuser, her combat ability was on an entirely different level. She inhaled deeply and stabilized her body, her golden hair drifting slowly in the vacuum as cosmic energy gathered around her.
The energy condensed across her body and ignited into dazzling golden light.
"My turn now."
Carol took several steady breaths, and with each inhale her aura rose higher. Cosmic energy surged through her body like a raging tide, growing stronger and stronger.
She slowly raised a finger.
A brilliant golden glow instantly bloomed at her fingertip. Carol drew power from the nearby star, pulling its flames across the void and compressing them into a terrifyingly bright point of incandescent light.
A low hum echoed through space.
The light burst outward violently, instantly flooding the surrounding star field with blinding white brilliance. The intensity was enough to burn the eyes of an ordinary person instantly, making it impossible to keep them open. Even the exposed skin would feel a faint scorching sensation under its heat.
"Interesting."
Ethan Drake narrowed his eyes slightly, a faint smile appearing on his lips.
"But it's not just my eyesight that's extraordinary. My hearing is just as terrifying."
The moment the words fell, he casually lifted his right hand and grabbed the incoming figure with precise timing.
Carol had used the blinding light as cover to rush forward, but Ethan caught her movement perfectly and seized her arm before she could strike.
"You think that's all?"
Carol's voice turned sharp as she spoke. Her slender arms suddenly surged with power.
The strength in her muscles multiplied tens of thousands of times in an instant.
She had absorbed the gravitational forces surrounding them in space, channeling those invisible fluctuations directly into her body. The sudden increase in gravity manipulation pushed the strength of her arms to a terrifying level.
Bang!
With a violent motion, Carol blasted Ethan away.
"Don't underestimate women."
She didn't pause for even a moment. The blonde hero shot across the star field like a blazing meteor, pursuing him at incredible speed as she continued her assault.
But Ethan didn't give her the advantage she expected.
The figure she had thrown away suddenly stabilized mid-flight. At the same time, every cell in his body began absorbing the cosmic energy surrounding them.
Bang!
The two collided again.
There were no complicated techniques and no weapons between them. Their fight was nothing more than pure physical confrontation.
Boom! Boom!
Every collision sounded like two meteors smashing into a planet, sending massive shockwaves rippling across the star field.
Carol's fighting style was fierce and overwhelming. Despite her elegant figure and tall, graceful build, the blonde warrior fought Ethan with completely domineering force.
"Hmph."
Her body moved slightly, though the movement itself was almost impossible to see. Cosmic energy around her instantly condensed into layers of shimmering shields that surrounded her body, intercepting and weakening Ethan's punches.
Her control over cosmic energy was astonishing.
After all, cosmic energy was merely a broad term that encompassed countless different forms of power.
The light emitted by nearby stars could be absorbed by Carol and converted into searing incandescent energy.
The gravitational fluctuations that filled the universe could be drawn into her body, amplifying the strength of her attacks.
Even the scattered energy waves drifting through space could be reshaped into protective shields, allowing her to defend against incoming blows with remarkable efficiency.
With such a perfect mastery of cosmic energy, it was no surprise that she would one day stand at the peak of Marvel's heroes.
"Woman, you're really interesting."
Ethan still wore a relaxed smile. His clear eyes burned with excitement as he fought, the thrill of battle evident in his expression.
He moved through Carol's attacks with surprising ease. Every punch he threw seemed to split into multiple impacts, shattering one energy shield after another before forcing Carol backward.
There was no denying it. Carol was far stronger than General Zod and easily the most powerful opponent Ethan had faced so far.
Even so, the gap between them was still enormous.
"Speaking of which," Ethan said casually, "I should thank you for the lesson."
Carol paused slightly, confused by his words.
"Lesson?"
Her brows furrowed as she tried to understand what he meant.
"Now," Ethan continued with a calm smile, "let's see how well I've learned."
For a brief moment, Carol didn't understand what he was talking about.
But in the very next second, the expression on her face froze.
"This…"
Ethan slowly raised one finger.
The light of the nearby star began gathering at the tip of his finger, condensing exactly the way Carol had done moments earlier. Within seconds, it transformed into the same terrifying incandescent brilliance that flooded the surrounding star field.
"Not good!"
Carol's eyes widened in shock. She couldn't believe what she was seeing.
How could he replicate her ability so quickly?
But she didn't have time to think.
A terrifying disturbance in the air had already approached silently.
Damn it.
Carol shut her eyes tightly and relied on the flow of energy around her to judge Ethan's position. Without hesitation, she condensed cosmic energy into layers of defensive shields around her body.
"You think it'll be that easy?"
Ethan's voice traveled through space as he closed the distance.
In the next instant, he activated another ability.
Energy extraction.
The gravitational forces surrounding the star field were pulled directly into his arms, dramatically increasing his physical strength.
But that wasn't the end of it.
He layered another ability on top of it.
Space shock.
Boom!
The star field in front of Carol seemed to tear apart.
An overwhelming shockwave erupted outward as Ethan's punch smashed forward. The layers of energy shields she had created shattered instantly under the impact.
Carol herself was struck directly.
Her body was thrown backward like a small boat caught in a violent cosmic storm, swept away helplessly by the raging flow of energy.
Ethan watched her fly across the void with a thoughtful expression.
"Like I said, I should thank you," he said calmly. "Turns out cosmic energy can be used in all sorts of ways."
He didn't bother hiding the fact that he had copied her techniques.
Thanks to the passive ability of accelerated brain activity, Ethan could analyze his opponent's powers with incredible speed.
