Chapter 108 - Chapter 108: The Devil's Fall

Tonight, Yuno was sleeping with Ray. The little one was very well-behaved, so Ray sometimes allowed it. Years had passed, but she was still plagued by nightmares. Yuno never crossed any lines—she just fell asleep peacefully in Ray's arms, enjoying the feeling of security.

Feeling Ray's strong body carefully leave her embrace, Yuno opened her eyes slightly. She wasn't the only one tormented by horrific memories that had become her eternal nightmare. Part of her wanted to stop Ray.

She was very saddened that she couldn't bring peace to his heart. Deep down, Yuno was still angry at Miku—because she had betrayed her father, her beloved mentor, and only she could have brought peace to his soul, even if only temporary.

Realizing Yuno was awake, Ray gently stroked the girl's head and said:

"Sorry I woke you. I need to clear my head a little. I'll be back soon."

Getting dressed, Ray went outside for his usual nighttime run. Sometimes he felt that the sound of the rain soothed his wounded soul. Running across a pedestrian crossing, he noticed a familiar girl.

He had fully accepted that his relationship with Miku could end this way, but he had wanted to believe that his love and care were enough to make her stay. He was jolted from his wave of regret by the sight of an obviously expensive sports car racing straight toward Miku.

The girl also noticed Ray and, realizing her death was approaching, instinctively covered her belly with her hands.

Looking at Ray, she smiled gently at him, a few tears rolling down her cheeks.

Miku sat, staring blankly at the doors of the operating room, noticing nothing around her. A sharp pain in her cheek brought her back to reality—she finally noticed Yuno's figure and could hear her question:

"What happened?"

"I stayed too long at the studio. I was hungry, so I went to the convenience store nearby."

"When I was crossing the street, I almost got hit. Some idiot was speeding right at me. When I had already realized death was close… Ray, whom I noticed at the last moment, pushed me out of the way."

"Why did that idiot do it?" Miku said through tears, not addressing anyone in particular.

"The answer to that question is simple. He did it for the child's sake. So don't think it was done for you. Pull yourself together and calm down. That child gave you a second life—so take care of it," Yuno said firmly.

"But I hurt him… And the child might not even be his. Why would he do this?" Miku said sadly.

"Even if that child isn't his, it hasn't done anything wrong. One of the reasons he helped you is that there are still warm feelings for you in Ray's heart. But we both know he will never forgive betrayal."

"I have a pretty good imagination, but even I can't think of anything that would make Dad go against his principles."

"All you can do for him is raise this child to be a worthy person, no matter who its father is. Now pull yourself together and tell us what the doctors say?" Yuno asked impatiently.

"I don't know… They won't tell me anything. But the speed was very high. Ray is a very strong man, but I don't think he can survive this."

While the surgery was underway, Deya cried in Yuno's arms. At some point, the little one fell asleep.

The calmest among them seemed to be Yuno. But it was only an appearance. Miku could clearly see that news of Ray's death could break her. The girl caught herself thinking that this girl deserved this man's love far more than she did—and that made her smile bitterly.

The surgery lasted twelve hours. Catching a clearly exhausted doctor, Yuno asked anxiously:

"How is he?"

Three girls had come to the hospital, along with Tyler, Jill, and Frank. They all waited anxiously for the doctor's words.

Afterword

Hello everyone and good day to those reading my story, if there are any. I thought for a long time about whether to split the book into three parts, and I finally decided to do it. The third part will be the last.

If you're here for the harem and erotic content, there will be plenty of it in the next part, but I'd like it to be a pleasant bonus. Despite the specifics of the genre, I want my story to make people think. I hope Ray's life story is still interesting.

Taking this opportunity, I want to apologize once again for any errors in the text. There's not much left, and honestly, my motivation is "limping on both feet" right now. I'm not sure it will be enough to continue the series, but if you are one of those who likes this story, I give you my word that it will have an ending, even if this series doesn't continue.
