Chapter 1 - *Chapter 1 — A Voice That Refused to Fade*

There was nothing.

No sky.

No ground.

No sound.

Just darkness.

Endless. Silent. Empty.

And within that emptiness…

A single presence remained.

A soul.

It didn't have a form.

Didn't have a body.

Didn't even have a clear sense of self anymore.

But it existed.

And that alone… was enough to hurt.

"…so this is it…"

The voice didn't echo.

There was nowhere for it to go.

It simply… existed. Like everything else in that void.

"…it really ended like that…"

Fragments of something distant drifted through the darkness.

Not images.

Not memories in full.

Just… feelings.

Regret.

Heavy. Suffocating. Unavoidable.

"I didn't even get to see it…"

A pause.

Long.

Empty.

"…the end of One Piece…"

The words felt strange now.

Like they belonged to someone else.

Someone who had lived.

Someone who had cared.

A faint, broken laugh slipped into the void.

"…after all those years…"

It wasn't bitter.

Not completely.

Just… tired.

"I followed that story… longer than I lived anything real…"

And that truth lingered.

Because it wasn't entirely a joke.

There had been days—many days—where that world felt more alive than his own.

Where the sea felt closer than reality.

Where dreams… didn't feel impossible.

"…and I still didn't see it…"

Silence swallowed the words again.

But this time—

Something else came with it.

A softer feeling.

Not regret.

Something warmer.

"…Sanji…"

The name surfaced naturally.

Without effort.

"…he deserved better…"

There was no anger in the voice.

Just disappointment.

Quiet. Personal.

"He was one of my favorites…"

A faint shift in the darkness.

Like something trying to remember.

"He fought… suffered… gave everything…"

A pause.

"…and still…"

The thought didn't finish.

It didn't need to.

The feeling behind it was enough.

Being overlooked.

Being pushed aside.

Being… forgotten.

That feeling—

He understood it too well.

"…guess that's how it goes…"

Another silence.

Heavier this time.

Then—

Another name.

"…Ace…"

And everything changed.

The emptiness didn't disappear.

But it… deepened.

Like something inside him had been touched.

Harder than before.

"That story…"

His voice faltered slightly.

Not from weakness.

From something closer to… recognition.

"…that wasn't just a story…"

Fragments tried to form again.

More vivid this time.

A face he never truly saw.

A presence that had always been there—

But never felt safe.

"…a father…"

The word felt wrong.

Sharp.

Uncomfortable.

"…someone who was supposed to be something…"

A pause.

Longer than the others.

"…but wasn't."

There it was.

Clear.

Simple.

Real.

"I get it…"

The words came out quieter.

Not to the void.

But to something deeper.

"To hate where you come from…"

"To carry something you never asked for…"

"To feel like your existence is… wrong."

The silence didn't answer.

But it didn't need to.

Because for the first time—

The emptiness didn't feel completely empty.

It felt… understood.

A long breath.

Or something close to it.

"…he still lived the way he wanted…"

There was something in that thought.

Something important.

Something that lingered longer than the rest.

"…even knowing how it would end…"

A faint, almost invisible shift.

"…he was free."

That word.

It stayed.

It didn't fade like the others.

It didn't break apart.

It remained.

Clear.

Sharp.

Unavoidable.

"…free…"

And suddenly—

Everything else felt heavier.

The regrets.

The unfinished life.

The things he never did.

Never tried.

Never became.

"I didn't…"

The voice trembled slightly.

Not from fear.

But from realization.

"I didn't live like that…"

The truth settled in.

Final.

Unchanging.

"I just… existed."

And that—

That was the worst part.

Not the pain.

Not the loneliness.

But the absence of something more.

A life without movement.

Without risk.

Without meaning.

"…if I had one more chance…"

The words came slowly.

Carefully.

Like something fragile.

"I wouldn't waste it…"

The darkness remained silent.

Unmoving.

Unchanging.

But something else—

Something new—

Appeared.

At first, it was faint.

Barely noticeable.

A distant glow.

Small.

Almost insignificant.

"…?"

The soul shifted.

For the first time—

There was something to look at.

The light grew.

Slowly.

But steadily.

Breaking through the endless dark.

"…what is that…?"

It didn't answer.

It just… approached.

Or maybe—

He was being pulled toward it.

The distance between them closed without movement.

Without time.

Without explanation.

And with each passing moment—

Something began to fade.

The thoughts.

The feelings.

The awareness.

"…wait…"

For the first time—

There was hesitation.

Not fear.

Not regret.

Something else.

Urgency.

"I'm not—"

The words broke.

Slipped.

Fell apart.

The light expanded.

Brighter.

Warmer.

Consuming everything.

"I'm not done yet—"

Darkness shattered.

And just like that—

His consciousness disappeared.
