I get called in by J to a meeting as I walk in I notice R
"Oh hey its been some time, I hope you and your wife have been doing well"
He smiles
"Yeah we've been well... other then the winter beast."
I nod makes sense. I sit down
"So we've gotten a message from the devil-"
I jump up slamming my hands into the table almost breaking it
"Where is he? Is he okay? What's he doing?"
J puts her hand up
"Calm down I'll explain. I know your close to him but still"
I sit down now very jumpy.
"Apparently sunless is quite the overachiever as he has quite the caravan with him"
Heh thats the sunny i know
"He should be in this valley"
She points to a part of the map
"In a few days he will be here so he will be needing reinforcements"
So I climb up on the griffin.
"Are you sure your going to be okay?"
I nod
"Trust me this will be a far better flying experience then my previous ones. Normally I just hold my wrath echo's hand and just float around, trust me this will be a lot more pleasant"
He nods still a bit careful
"If you're about to throw up please lean your head to the side"
I slowly nod, has.... has someone actually done that? I look out, I'll finally see sunny after so long, oh I'm sure that guy has done so much more then what I've been told.
"Sun!"
I fall from the sky landing right on him.
"Oh. Normally you dodge."
I stand on him, his face goes from shock to anger
"Get the hell off of me you idiot!"
I get thrown off of him landing on my feet as R walks over, he looks over the caravan with some shock
"Sunless? Wait... it's you? You're the famous Devil of Antarctica?"
I narrow my eyes going over to sunny. His face.... it looks weird. Why is he in the puppeteer shroud? Doesn't matter why does his face look so... off
"Uh... yes? That's what people call me these days, I guess. Anyway, it is very nice to see you again, Master Roan. Really."
I circle him trying to figure out what is so off
"Ah... why did nobody tell me? It makes sense, though! You do love striking deals with people... in exchange for soul shards..."
The other guy, don't know his name but I think he's the one jal's been t a talking about looks at the two confused
"You know each other?"
I lift my hand and i start poking sunny. Okay his skin is weird. What the fuck? Sunny has no reaction to my antics because thats fully what this is.
"...Yes. Master Roan of the White Feather clan, meet Master Naeve of the House of Night. The two of us are in charge of this caravan."
I nod then
"God damn sun you beat up, do you like, want a snack?"
Sunny nods and I hand him some snacks i know he got a lot for himself.
"How many people do you have?"
I go back to poking at sunny trying to figure out what is so wrong with him.
"Four thousand soldiers, thirty thousand civilian refugees, plus a few thousand shipwrecked sailors. I also have one hundred Awakened and around twenty Sleepers, as well as my own cohort of Irregulars. Oh, and a dozen or so Echoes between all of us, including a couple of Fallen ones."
Thats my guy! Now what happened why is his skin so hard.
"...You really brought these people here all the way from Erebus Field?"
I hear a scoff and I look over at the three echos, when had flame summoned itself? Okay. The three are in the world's worst staring contest at the moment.
"Most of them, yes. A few hundred were with me from before that, though. These poor souls have crossed more than three thousand kilometers in search of shelter."
Thats a new echo. I don't think its sunny's as it isn't that weirdness. Like all dark and stuff with the flames for eyes.
"You did well, Sunless. You did very well."
I nod then I poke that new echo with a ice stick. For it is humanities right, no it is their mission, to poke things with a stick. The stick is promptly snapped at and broken. I then go back to poking sunny.
"Are you really sure about this?"
I lean over the griffin
"Yeah yeah."
He glances back at me
"I know you care for him and all but... this isn't needed"
I wave my hand at him
"Well a distraction is needed so thats what I'll give"
As he's about to say something else I jump off. The sound of wind is so loud. I wonder, what even is snow storm as a ability? Like my dormant ability can make things float as it is, so is it more wind control based? I'll have to test things out. I slow down right as some abominations are about to attack me. When even one manages to touch my robe a explosion of ice goes off, I think, I think if I put in my full effort I could destroy at least half of falcon Scott at once.
I land on top of a very familiar yet very different PTV I lean down then I knock on the hatch. It opens to sunny
"Hey"
He blinks
"Did.... did you jump into the middle of the mass of abominations?"
I nod
"Thats all I've been doing. I know you remember. Anyways so there's going to be a important meeting and all that so be there doofus as effie would say."
He frowns and he slams the hatch as he goes back inside. I stretch out my hand and I start testing it. God damn this armor is nice. A shame how I got it. It seems to heavily power me up when its night and well, its been night for a while now. So super important meeting and all that.
I arrive at the meeting with sunny. J isnt here yet so I lean over and whisper
"Hey. Hey why is your skin weird now?"
He looks over not very entertained
"I got a new attribute."
He reaches into the satchel taking out a drink i had gotten i knew he likes. Soon she gets here, in zone out for a bit
"...Where are Randal and Jesse?"
I look at the floor, both gone just like that
"They're dead."
Sunny also looks down with a quiet
"oh."
I walk out of the meeting, I saw Saint Tyris! Also what the fuck.
"Sunless. Dude. Just how bad is fated?"
He sighs
"Real bad"
I nod all but one, one, of the five greatest threats this idiot has managed to encounter.
"Do... do you want to restock that chest of yours real quick? I know a pretty good store for it"
He nods with a smile
"You'll pay right"
I nod
"Yeah sure I'm rich or whatever"
I grab a few items, mostly snacks, a few easy made meals, stuff I remember him and his cohort liking
"Oh and this as well"
I grab another thing as me and sunny go to check out
"So whats that new echo been doing? You don't have a new ice crystal thingy so..."
I shrug
"I lent it to a house of night ascended, apparently I can give the shard itself to people and boom, I still own the echo but it stays with someone else"
Sunny nods then blinks a few times
"So... you can just... do that?"
I shrug
"Yep"
As me and sunny check out the person, I helped em get across the street one time and thats how I heard of this place i think, laughs
"Well arent I glad I asked you for help across that street, this place has gotten more visitors then ever before"
I nod
"I mean, I don't know many stores in the area so when you told me about it I decided to just go here"
Sunny elbows me
"I didn't know you where the type to help old people cross the road"
I shrug
"He asked for help and isn't it my job to help?"
