Li Wan sat elegantly upon a chaise lounge near the window, one leg crossed over the other, a half-finished glass of red wine resting lazily between her fingers. Even alone, she carried herself beautifully, every movement graceful and refined, though the slight tension hidden beneath her expression betrayed that her thoughts were far from calm.
Then her phone rang.
Li Wan lowered her gaze toward the screen.
It was an unfamiliar number, but she recognized it immediately because it was one she knew by heart.

"Hello, Ming Chen."
On the other end, Ming Chen's voice was cold and direct.
