The barrier cracked.
Kael saw it.
Not wide enough to pass through.

But it was breaking.
Lightning burst from his hands again, striking the invisible wall between him and Ariana. The impact sent sharp lines across the surface, spreading like fractures in glass. The entire space trembled with it.
"Ariana!" he called.
She did not answer.
She was still there.
He could see her.
