Chapter 7 - Chapter 6-Shy

"I apologize for being persistent, I'm only looking out for you". The Seer said as soon as Alpha Draven walked through the door. Her elderly face assessing his face.

His expression wasn't any better than when she left a few hours ago, she had tried to stay away for a while to give him time to adjust to what she had to say but it kept nagging at her.

"Alright, let's hear it". Alpha Draven sat down on his seat and faced her directly without another word.

Silence ensued in the study for a few minutes, it was heavy and intense until she spoke again.

No one heard what was being said or what she revealed but when the Alpha walked out minutes later, his lips were pressed thinly and his eyes were hard and cold.

He walked briskly towards his chamber, as if running away from what she had said to him a few minutes ago.

The Omega was still deeply asleep when he walked inside, he was no longer wearing the robe. His back was bare with bandages on his wounds. The Alpha took off his outer jacket and his boots before he gently eased himself on the bed beside the omega, careful enough not to wake him.

The innocent and peaceful face before him pulled at his heart strings, what the seer had said a while ago making his wolf howl painfully in his head.

"Death".

The word echoed loudly in his ears even as he caressed his face and gently pushed hair away from his face.

His lips were lightly parted, and a soft snore was coming from his mouth. The Alpha laid down beside him as he thought of what to do to protect the omega he met barely one day ago.

A while later, the Omega stirred awake, surprised by the sleeping person beside him. He leaned over to stare at his face, a shy smile tugging at his lips.

He was curious, he was confused about a lot of things but he was also intrigued.

He doesn't know if he could trust the man beside him, in the past he had been abused, starved and beaten by the one that he thought was his mate.

He reached over with trembling fingers and touched the top of nose and traced a line down to his lips, entranced.

The eyes closed beneath his hand suddenly opened, he pulled his hand back immediately and froze.

Their gaze held without a single word being spoken, the midday sun spilling through the window added a glow to the Omega's features and hair making him appear celestial.

He broke out of the trance and moved back slowly but the Alpha caught him by the waist, a gasp escaped his lips and he looked down at the closeness of their bodies.

"Why are you running away, I don't bite". Alpha Draven said, his voice husky from sleep.

The omega face suddenly turned bright pink and he shrank back—silently attempting to get out of the Alpha's touch.

"What is your name?"

Alpha Draven asked suddenly and the Omega looked at him as if ready to say something but changed his mind and looked away.

A knock on the door suddenly distracted them and the omega pulled the cover over his head in panic.

"Come in".

Elias walked inside, his eyes immediately went from the Alpha to the face peeking out of the covers.

His fists tightened as he remembered the argument between him and the Alpha a few hours ago because of the Omega. He found it hard to understand why the Alpha was going an extra mile for a mere Omega. What if he was his mate? He can get any other Omega of his choice for an heir.

A mate meant weakness.

"What do you want?"

"One of the demons that attacked at the guarding post this morning was brought back alive. I thought you might want to see it before we kill it".

Elias explained, sounding respectful. He was still disgruntled but he had to deliver the message.

"I will be there in a few minutes". He dismissed him and turned to the Omega hiding in the covers.

"I will have some food brought to you, eat slowly. I will be back later". He announced and he turned around to see him staring at him blankly and disappointed.

"Is he pouting?"

The Alpha chuckled softly as he walked out.

He followed his beta out of the pack house to the dungeon some distance away, the demon was tied down with some chains.

It appeared very docile until he saw the Alpha, it suddenly perked up and rattled the chains loudly.

It roared and launched forward. He soon gave up trying to get out of the chains and stared deadly at the Alpha.

The men watching all had a surprised look on their faces, it hadn't reacted to anyone except the Alpha.

"The rest of the group was killed right?" Alpha Draven asked, his eyebrows pulling together in a frown as he got closer to get a closer look at the demon.

"Yes Alpha". One of the warriors responded.

In the next seconds what happened was beyond their expectations and many of them moved forward to shield the Alpha.

"Alpha!" Wilson shrieked in shock as a long cut appeared on the Alpha's face and blood quickly dripped without stopping.

Alpha Draven barely flinched or moved back even after the demon managed to slash him across the face.

The scale on his glistening and gory body was changing colours between red and black, the tail it had whipped around now being pinned down by two men.

Alpha Draven stared back into the demon's crimson eyes.

"Don't kill it yet, keep it alive until I say otherwise". He ordered and turned around to walk away as the demon let out another roar of anger.

The Alpha gently wiped at the blood dripping down the side of his face as he made his way back to his study.

"Should I call the doctor?" Wilson asked worriedly and opened the study door for him.

Alpha Draven shook his head and continued inside.

"Alpha, something is wrong". A maid barged in suddenly and Alpha Draven turned to her sharply.

She pointed back to the direction of his room where the Omega was, Alpha Draven didn't wait for her to explain more when he hurried out of the study with Wilson closely behind him.
