Chapter 20 The Family
Kai and Juvia arrived in Magnolia. Juvia lowered her head as she saw people running back home because of the rain. Juvia shouldn't have come. Everyone will be sad because of Juvia.
Her eyes became wet. "Juvia thinks Juvia should—" she stopped as she felt Kai's hand on her head, warm and comforting like the sun. She looked up at him.
Kai grinned and pointed toward the market. People were already back with umbrellas, returning to their lively atmosphere. A few noticed Kai and waved.
"Oh, it's Kai! Well, young man!" a fruit stall owner waved. A woman buying fruits teased, "My, my! Little Kai, even after having Erza and Mira, you are walking with a beautiful girl?"
Kai waved. "Stop teasing poor me." Everyone's mouth twitched. "You, poor? If I had the amount of money you had, I would have retired already," one shopkeeper said.
He immediately received a punch on his head from his wife. "That's why you don't have that much money. Look at Kai, he is so young yet works so hard."
Juvia blinked as more people joined the conversation, teasing, laughing, and arguing. Some even asked her many questions she didn't know how to answer.
But a few thoughts occupied her mind. Who are Erza and Mira? Why aren't they angry at me for causing rain? Why are they so friendly?
Kai waved at everyone. "Well, we have to leave. Juvia needs to meet the guild members and receive her guild mark."
Everyone laughed. "Looks like we need to add anti-flood measures all over Magnolia. A new Fairy Tail member means more chaos."
Kai and Juvia walked toward the Fairy Tail guild hall. Juvia tugged his sleeve. "Why aren't they angry, knowing I caused the rain?"
"Well, compared to the damage caused by guild members, yours is practically harmless," Kai said. Juvia blinked in confusion.
"You will understand when you join the guild," Kai said, ruffling her hair. Juvia forgot all her questions at that moment.
Inside Fairy Tail, Natsu and Gray were glaring at each other, now fully recovered. "I got beaten up because of you, you flame brain!"
"What does that have to do with me, you ice pervert?" Natsu shot back. Happy floated nearby, watching everything like entertainment.
Laki carried dishes with ease while Makarov sat at the counter drinking. Mira was grinning while drawing something, and Erza sat cleaning Meigetsu.
Elfman was telling someone how to be manly, while Levy and Lisanna were gossiping about Erza, Mira, and Kai. Jet and Droy sulked as Freed comforted them.
Natsu and Gray's bickering soon turned into a fistfight. Happy cheered as guild members started placing bets on them.
Natsu's punch missed and slammed into a table, flipping it onto Macao. Wakaba burst out laughing. "Hahaha! You can't even dodge that?"
Macao picked up a chair and swung it at him. Wakaba dodged, and Jet was sent flying, crashing into someone else.
Soon, a guild-wide brawl began. Mira's drawing was ruined, and someone threw food onto Erza.
That was enough. The two strongest girls joined the fight, beating everyone down.
Kai and Juvia stood at the doors, watching everything. "Umm… Kai? Are we even in a legal guild? It feels worse than the dark guilds Juvia heard about."
Kai's mouth twitched. "Ahem… Fairy Tail is the strongest legal guild. This chaos is what makes Fairy Tail… Fairy Tail."
Kai grabbed her hand and walked through the chaos as if it was nothing. He reached the bar, stepped inside, and took out the magic stamp.
"Juvia, what color of mark do you want?"
"Blue."
"Where?"
"On the back of my right arm."
Kai changed the color and stamped her arm. "Done. You are now a Fairy Tail member."
"Eh?! Just like that?" Her shout drew everyone's attention.
"Kaiiiii is back!"
Kai raised Juvia's hand, showing her Fairy Tail mark. "Guys, we have a new member."
"Woooow!" everyone cheered. Many members had hearts in their eyes.
Macao nodded. "A cute girl like her is always welcome."
Wakaba nodded. "The kid has no shame. After taking two beautiful girls for himself, he brought another beauty."
"What's your magic? Are you strong?" Natsu asked. Happy floated around her. "Do you have fish?"
Juvia blinked in confusion. A talking, flying cat? Juvia is cute? She finally asked, "Umm… can Juvia join just like that?"
Makarov walked to her, smiling kindly. "Since Kai placed that mark, it means he trusts you. And if Kai trusts you, Fairy Tail will trust you. Welcome to the Fairy Tail family."
"Welcome!"
"Party!"
Soon, before Juvia knew it, a guild-wide celebration began.
