Katarina took her over to her own bench, across the room.
Once there, she unveiled the object of her obsession. The project that had been keeping her up at night throughout most of her stay here at the Compasso.
"Alright, so, you see this box?" Katarina said. She was being a bit bitter in her delivery, but she couldn't help it. Having to share this with someone else was, in itself, a bitter experience.
"Yes."
"Okay, so the idea is that this thing," she patted it like the hood of a car, "is supposed to keep whatever's inside cold."
"For how long?"
"Forever."
She watched Eva absorb the information in real time. Her skepticism was immediately apparent, though she made sure to keep her poker face up.
[Okay, go ahead. Say it's not possible, turn around, walk away, and then I can tell Vessa about it.]
But Eva didn't do that.
Instead, Eva rubbed her chin as she stared at the container and then asked:
"That would require infinitely looping qi, wouldn't it?"
