A month had passed since the wedding, which saw blood spilled but no deaths. Dragon Nest City had returned to its peaceful routine.
Dragon Nest City, Dragon Nest Tower, Dragon Rearing Greenhouse.
Viserys, pulling Miss Lara Rogare along, stealthily crouched outside the greenhouse's glass door, with King Aegon standing beside him, looking helpless. Viserys glanced at Lara, who was intently watching Igaras inside the greenhouse, and quickly moved beside Aegon. "Aegon, are you sure Sarafasas isn't in the greenhouse right now?"
Aegon looked at his younger brother with an expression that said, You're hopeless, and so is your Dragon. "Absolutely, absolutely. I specifically had Grand Maester Ammor take Sarafasas to another greenhouse."
Viserys let out a long sigh of relief and then sidled back to Lara's side. "Is this a Dragon?" Although Lara had seen Dragons many times before, it was her first time seeing one up close. Her eyes reflected Igaras's pale yellow, crystal-like scales and body, and for a moment, she was mesmerized, staring blankly as the stout little Dragon occasionally lifted a leg to scratch its head or lazily crawled around, seemingly searching for something. When it realized it was the only Dragon in the greenhouse, it even let out soft whimpers. However, the people outside couldn't hear it.
"Miss Lara, come." Viserys forced a bright, sunny smile and, as if showing off, opened the greenhouse's bronze door, carefully leading Lara inside. Sensing someone enter, Igaras vigilantly looked towards the door. Upon seeing it was Viserys, Igaras quickly crawled over, letting out soft whimpers with its small head.
Viserys translated the meaning of Igaras's whimpers in his mind and couldn't help but shiver. Igaras's meaning was simple, just not easy to say out loud.
"Buddy, blue gem, where are you? I miss you."
Only Lara was still gazing adoringly at Igaras's crystal-like body. Viserys's spirits lifted, and he said in High Valyrian, "Igaras, come."
The little Dragon warily glanced at Viserys, then at Lara, and seemed to understand something as it gave Viserys a sidelong look. But it slowly crawled over nonetheless.
"Miss Lara, you can touch it." Viserys reached out and stroked Igaras's head, saying again in High Valyrian, "Igaras, be good, don't resist. She means no harm."
"May I?" Lara asked cautiously. Viserys nodded, continuing to stroke Igaras's head. Igaras let out a sound.
Viserys understood the meaning of Igaras's recent sound: touching was fine, but Sarafasas needed to come back quickly. Viserys even felt a hint of disdain from Igaras towards him.
This made Viserys laugh in exasperation. "How dare you, a lovestruck Dragon, look down on me?" But Viserys showed no emotion on his face, instead smiling as he gestured for Igaras to come closer.
Seeing that his companion agreed to his request, Igaras obediently stretched out its thick, short neck, allowing Lara's hand to slowly reach out and touch it.
The touch was very pleasant, like stroking a real crystal, and there was a faint warmth seeping out from under the little Dragon's scales, making it feel warm and cozy.
Lara was momentarily at a loss for words to describe her feelings. She only knew that her entire being felt warm and fuzzy. For some reason, touching her fiancé's Dragon now filled Lara with a sense of pride and excitement. Igaras also quite obediently lifted its head, allowing Lara to stroke its body even more.
Only Aegon, standing outside the door watching Viserys and Igaras, couldn't help but cover his eyes.
By the Seven Gods, what was all this? If Brother Dragonzel found out... Aegon couldn't help but grind his teeth. Although he had done similar things with Samantha, that was when both of them had Dragons. As for Viserys, it could only be said that Igaras was truly worthy of being hatched from his Dragon egg.
However, Dragonzel knew nothing of these matters. He had already taken Prince Lingor and headed to a large Silver Blood Army Manor. This manor was located on the lands directly administered by House Varezes in the Reach, and it was the first Silver Blood Army Manor built within the Reach territories.
This Silver Blood Army Manor was quite large. On the vast plains, a small river flowed gently past the farmlands beside the manor. The fields here had already been cultivated, with neat wheat fields stretching as far as the eye could see. Only by riding a Dragon in the sky could one truly grasp the vastness of the cultivated land owned by this Silver Blood Army Manor.
A long stone wall protected the cultivated land, pastures, and houses inside the manor. Several tall towers were built along the stone wall, with a keen-eyed boy or maiden standing guard on each tower. Inside the stone wall stood many well-built houses, clearly distinguishable from the mud huts outside the wall. The people inside the stone wall were also better dressed, with silver-haired, golden-haired, and black-haired individuals moving in and out. A sizable market had stalls set up just outside the stone wall, suggesting that the surrounding villages also considered this an important market hub. At the center of the stone wall were five longhouses with stables, and a very nice stone house, indicating that this manor had five Silver Blood Army Knights with armor and horses, and one Silver Blood Army officer in command.
There was also a small sept in the manor, where a brown-robed septon was laboriously hanging clothes outside the sept to dry. Radishes and grapes were also planted in the fields next to the sept, though it was unclear what they were for.
"Haral, what are you looking at?" A limping middle-aged man looked at the silver-haired stall owner in front of him, who was staring blankly at the sky, and impatiently waved a hand in front of him. "Are you doing business or not?"
"Three coppers, take this string of sausages." The silver-haired stall owner waved his hand impatiently, still staring fixedly at the sky.
"What's wrong?" The limping middle-aged man looked at his former comrade with extreme curiosity. Indeed, both he and the silver-haired stall owner, Haral, had served in the Silver Blood Army. He was an infantryman, while Haral was a crossbowman, rumored to have shot and killed a Knight of the Reach during the Battle of Flower Valley.
"I think I saw a Dragon," Haral said blankly. "Hey, old cripple, put the money down before you go."
"Hmph, don't lie to me," the cripple said with a laugh, tossing three coppers to Haral. "I know you have good eyesight, otherwise I would have been the crossbowman back then. But how could a Dragon possibly come to our manor? Are you crazy from wanting to see His Highness? Stop dreaming. For us, it's a blessing from the gods if the commanders even glance at us."
Before his words had even faded,
A Dragon's roar, causing the entire manor to tremble slightly, came from the horizon.
