"What the hell?"
"There isn't much time for you to remain here so I advise you to get moving." Mathilda said.
Sophia looked at him and examined his face while Jason's thoughts were moving a hundred miles an hour. 'Why did she do this? What is her plan? She clearly knows how much he antagonizes me. So why does she do this? And besides that, how can I win? I'm exhausted beyond belief and my mana is empty. There is absolutely no way to win currently. I need to be at my absolute best to stand a chance. So why…'
Jason's thought were cut off when a hand punched a hole into his back and emerged from his chest. Blood splattered the floor beneath him. He looked down at the delicate hand with clear manicured nails covered in his blood. He raised his hands to the hand instinctively as blood poured from his mouth. Everyone remaining in the room opened their eyes wide in shock and disbelief. Even Professor Mathilda never expected this to happen in her wildest dreams.
"Sophia what the hell have you done! It's one thing to kill him in combat where he could fight back but this is pure murder." She ran to Jason but Sophia threw him behind her placing herself between Jason and Mathilda. "Let me through and heal him."
"No."
"Then you leave me no option. I'm going to have to inform the headmaster and the disciplinary committee about this." Mathilda started typing on her bracelet.
Sophia had a very good reason for doing this. She knew that Jason bonded with a phoenix so he wouldn't die from something like this. Besides, Jason was currently in a weakened state. He stood no chance to defeat Anthony, who was bonded with a leviathan, in his present condition and she knew it.
In order to help him, she needed to kill him so that he would resurrect himself in peak condition. She removed her hand from his body and invoked her right to remain silent. 'They would know the truth soon enough.' She thought to herself. 'So it's no difference if they know now rather than later. All that is left to do is wait for him to wake up and then retrieve the very item that she commissioned at the forge. He would need the edge it would grant. 'Also, Mathilda made a good call in her situation. She knew her strength is slightly higher than my own so she knew a fight would be a bad idea. She would ultimately win that fight, but by then it will be too late.'
The three remaining students were looking at one another in confusion and started whispering amongst themselves.
"Why do you think she did it?" Adam asked Isabelle and Susan.
"I don't know. But don't you think she went to far though?" Susan replied. "I mean he was scheduled to fight another guy, right? So why would she commit murder in front of all of us?"
"Maybe she likes him and killed him to spare him from the leviathans wrath since he's too weak to fight him." Isabelle whispered and the other two stared at her. "What? It could happen."
"Sophia is blessed by a dragon." Adam responded. "There is no way that she would fall for one blessed by a salamander. It doesn't make sense."
"It doesn't matter," Mathilda says. "The headmaster is on her way and the disciplinary committee was nearby as well. They will be here momentarily. Sophia had such potential, but I can't let this go unanswered."
(Anthony's POV)
Anthony was in his dorm with an expression of glee on his face. "Soon she will be mine. All I need to do is eliminate that pathetic excuse of a lizard and I will claim her for my own. She has such a delightful body. I can't wait to see what lies underneath her clothes." He licks his lips in anticipation. "Soon, you will be mine. And that damn lizard will be dead."
He felt a vibration in his pocket. His gleeful expression turned into one of annoyance. He really didn't want to deal with the one on the other end but knowing that ignoring him would lead to something extremely disastrous, he decided to answer the phone.
"Hello, older brother." Anthony responded coldly.
"What a cold reception, little brother," the male voice responded amusedly on the other end."Has the Academy emboldened your weak spirit since your arrival? Or have you finally managed to increase your meager strength? I bet it's the former. Anyway I called to inform you that the plan is in motion for the upcoming event. Everything is in place except one tiny detail." The voice paused on the other end of the phone for a moment before continuing. "A reason, no matter how small. We just need a reason to begin. Then everything will converge together at the appointed time. You, our inside man, need to do your job for once and succeed in giving us a reason to move forward with the operation. You succeed, and you will have earned your reward from us. Fail, and you will never see the sunrise again."
"We took you in when you had nothing. It is time you return that generosity in full. Do not disappoint us. You carry our family name. Do not dishonor us."
The voice on the other end hung up as Anthony sighed in exasperation. Why did he have to be adopted in a family of psychos? Couldn't a normal family adopt him so he didn't have to be burdened by the weight of responsibility? He shook his head and headed for his bed.
He knelt on his knees and reached under pulling out a briefcase that was secured with a lock. He opened the lock and opened the briefcase. He inspected the inside and made sure that its contents were present. He pulled something out of it and placed it in his pocket before closing and locking the briefcase back up. He placed the briefcase back under his bed and stood up. His watch went off notifying him of his upcoming match against Jason. He pulled out the item that was in his pocket and stared at briefly before placing it back in his pocket.
"Regardless of my family's problems and their ambition, today will be all about my rise and soon enough I will have what I deserve."
