Chapter 15 - The Question She Never Asked

The next few days felt strangely normal for Mira.

Wake up.

Help with housework.

Get ready for the office.

Spend the day answering emails, attending meetings, and finishing deadlines.

Return home.

Eat dinner.

Listen to music.

Dance a little in her room when no one was watching.

And finally… sleep.

Her routine was simple.

But something inside her had quietly changed.

Now, every night before closing her eyes, one small thought appeared in her mind.

Will I see him again tonight?

That night, Mira lay in bed staring at the ceiling.

Her playlist was softly playing in the background.

Mostly hip-hop and rap songs.

The kind of music that always helped her release stress after a long day.

She closed her eyes slowly.

"Let's see," she whispered.

"Dream world… are you open tonight?"

When she opened her eyes again…

The rooftop was waiting.

The same cool night air.

The same city lights stretching endlessly below.

But this time, Mira didn't wait for him to appear.

She walked straight toward the railing and leaned forward slightly.

"You know," she said aloud,

"This place is becoming suspiciously familiar."

A voice answered from behind her.

"You're the one who keeps coming back."

Mira turned around with a small smile.

"There you are."

He was standing a few steps away again, hands casually in his pockets.

The calm expression.

The quiet confidence.

Everything about him still felt strangely comforting.

They stood next to each other near the railing again.

For a moment neither of them spoke.

Then Mira suddenly frowned.

"What?"

"I just realized something."

"That sounds dangerous."

"Very funny," she replied.

She turned toward him.

"We've had… what? Five or six dream conversations now?"

"Something like that."

"And I just noticed something extremely stupid."

He raised an eyebrow.

"What?"

"I never asked your name."

He blinked once.

Then laughed softly.

"That took you a while."

"Don't judge me!"

"I'm not judging. I'm impressed."

"Why?"

"Most people start with that question."

Mira crossed her arms.

"Well excuse me for prioritizing deep philosophical rooftop conversations."

She looked at him seriously now.

"So… what's your name?"

He didn't answer immediately.

Instead, he looked out at the city lights.

"Why do you want to know?"

Mira frowned.

"Because that's how normal conversations work."

"Normal?"

"Yes."

"You're talking to someone inside a dream."

She paused.

"…Okay fair point."

He smiled slightly.

"But still."

Mira waited patiently.

"So?" she asked again.

"What's your name?"

He turned toward her.

"You already know it."

Mira blinked.

"No I don't."

"You do."

"I definitely don't."

He looked amused.

"You've heard it many times."

She narrowed her eyes.

"Are you being mysterious on purpose?"

"Maybe."

"Stop doing that."

He laughed again.

Mira sighed dramatically.

"You know what?"

"What?"

"If this is my dream, I should be able to control it."

"Oh really?"

"Yes."

She pointed at him confidently.

"So I demand that my brain reveal your name immediately."

He watched her with quiet amusement.

"And did it work?"

"…No."

"That's unfortunate."

The wind moved softly across the rooftop.

After a moment Mira spoke again, but this time her voice was calmer.

"You know… your personality reminds me of someone."

"Someone famous?"

She hesitated.

"…Maybe."

"Who?"

She looked away shyly.

"Just someone whose music I listen to sometimes."

"Rap?"

Mira's eyes widened.

"How did you know that?"

He shrugged.

"You talk about music a lot."

"That's true."

"And your playlist choices are very obvious."

"Wait—how do you know my playlist?"

He smiled but didn't answer.

Mira studied his face carefully now.

Something about his calm confidence…

The thoughtful way he spoke…

Even the way he observed her reactions.

It all felt strangely familiar.

Too familiar.

Her heart skipped slightly.

"Wait a second," she said slowly.

He looked at her.

"What?"

"You're not…"

He tilted his head.

"Not what?"

Mira quickly shook her head.

"No, no."

"That would be ridiculous."

"What would?"

She laughed nervously.

"Nothing."

But the thought stayed in her mind.

Could it really be…?

No.

That was impossible.

This was just her imagination.

Her brain mixing music, stress, and dreams together.

Still…

She couldn't stop wondering.

The rooftop lights flickered again.

Mira groaned.

"Why do dreams have such terrible timing?"

He smiled slightly.

"Maybe they're not meant to last forever."

"Rude."

Before everything faded, Mira looked at him again.

"Next time," she said.

"What?"

"You're telling me your name."

"Maybe."

"No 'maybe'."

He didn't answer.

He simply smiled.

And the dream slowly disappeared.

Mira woke up suddenly.

Her room was quiet.

Morning sunlight was slowly filling the space.

She sat up and ran a hand through her hair.

"Okay," she said slowly.

"Now I'm curious."

Because for the first time…

A strange thought had entered her mind.

What if the person in her dream…

was actually the same person whose music she had been listening to every night?

Mira shook her head immediately.

"No way."

But her heart wasn't completely convinced.
