Chapter 17 - Chapter 16: Against Bournemouth 2 End.

For Manchester City the first half was a statement that they could still score goals even against a team that played defensively.

In the cold Manchester City dressing room, Pep Guardiola stood in front of his tactical board with the residual passion from Kompany's goal still palpable. "Listen, they're going to come out attacking. Eddie Howe has no choice but to press us higher in search of an equaliser," said Pep as he tapped the board with his marker. "David, Kevin, stay in your positions. Don't be tempted to get too far ahead. Substitutes, keep warming up, I might bring players on early if they start to leave holes in some lines."

"We have to continue to dominate the second half, don't let them have control of the ball–for the defensive players, don't be too hasty if they press hard, do it correctly and other players help your friends who are in trouble." Continue.

The players nodded and they were determined to perform better in the second half.

Meanwhile, in the Bournemouth dressing room, Eddie Howe tried to ignite his team's wilting spirit. "We proved we can break them down! In the second half, I want you to press from the first ball at Ederson's feet. Don't give them time to think!" he shouted to Nathan Aké and his friends.

"Don't let them have free reign in terms of controlling the course of the match – this is where we do our best and prove that we can perform better than what happened in the first half," he continued.

In the broadcast booth, Martin Tyler and Alan Smith wrapped up their first half analysis before the commercial break.

"A first half full of drama. Bournemouth gave a surprise, but De Bruyne's ingenuity and Kompany's execution changed everything in the last second." Martin Tyler exclaimed before continuing "I'm really looking forward to how the second half will go with these two teams who have different ways of playing"

Alan Smith answered with a smile "That's right, Martin. City showed why they are title contenders. However, credit must go to Harry Arter for his volley. The question now is, do Bournemouth have the breath to continue serving City's fast-paced game in the second 45 minutes?"

"Or will they attack and press tightly in the second half like they did in the previous match?" he continued.

Then a break before the second half finally ended.

The match continued with kick-off from Manchester City. However, the atmosphere immediately felt different. As soon as the ball rolled, the Bournemouth players immediately pressed very tightly. Jermain Defoe and Joshua King ran after every City defender's pass, forcing Otamendi and Kompany to play faster than usual.

"It looks like Eddie Howe has instructed high defense in this second half," said Martin Tyler. "They no longer wait in their own half; they want to win the ball as early as possible."

Entering the 50th minute, Bournemouth's pressure almost paid off when Kompany was forced to make a difficult pass under Defoe's pressure. However, Fernandinho calmly went down to pick up the ball and released a straight pass that cut through the midfield straight to David Silva's feet.

"Oh look how Fernandinho remains calm even though he is being closely guarded by the Bournemouth players," Martin exclaimed.

The ball reached David Silva's feet–Then he showed why he was nicknamed El Mago. After making a quick one-two pass with De Bruyne, Silva accelerated while putting the ball at his feet. With a smooth La Croqueta move, he got past Dan Gosling, then with a fake shoulder, he made Andrew Surman lose his balance.

David Silva then released a through ball to Gabriel Jesus who managed to find empty space on the right side of the penalty box. Jesus saw Asmir Begović leaning slightly towards the near post, so he decided to take a curved placing kick towards the far post.

"Jesus with a golden opportunity! Beautiful curling kick!" shouted Alan Smith.

However, Begović showed extraordinary determination. He jumped as hard as he could and managed to touch the ball with his fingertips. The slight touch caused the ball to hit the crossbar hard and bounce back into the penalty area. Nathan Aké, who was in the right position, immediately threw the ball as far as possible towards the stands to neutralize the situation.

"Ohhhhhh–It's amazing how much determination Begović displays, the touch of his fingertips makes the ball that should go in hit the crossbar instead." Alan Smith's voice was full of enthusiasm.

"My God, what we saw today–Amazing dribbling from David Silva, beautiful placing from Gabriel Jesus and determined saves from Begović. We were presented with match action today" exclaimed Martin Tyler with disbelief in his voice.

"As a goalkeeper, you know when you are beaten by quality, and Begović showed his professionalism here," continued Martin Tyler, sounding almost sympathetic

"Bournemouth's defense did everything right – how they pressed, Steve Cook tried to block – but how players like David Silva dribbling past players clearly shows the difference between these two teams"

On the sidelines, William, who was warming up with Phil Foden, was holding his head, unable to believe that the opportunity had failed to become a goal. He glanced at Pep, waiting for a signal whether he would be given the opportunity to play or not in this match.

Entering the 60th minute, the game pattern started to look lame. The high pressing strategy that Eddie Howe implemented at the start of the second half began to take its toll; Bournemouth's players seemed to be running out of breath. Nathan Aké was seen bending over holding his knees several times after sprinting to close Gabriel Jesus' running space.

Manchester City, with extraordinary composure, continued to turn the ball from foot to foot, forcing the Cherries players to continue chasing shadows. David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne are increasingly free to dictate the game because Harry Arter and Dan Gosling are no longer as quick as before in closing down space.

Seeing this momentum, Pep Guardiola turned to the bench. He made a firm gesture with two fingers.

"William! Sergio! Come here!" Pep shouted in a voice that overpowered the noise of the stands.

William and Sergio Agüero immediately stopped their light warm-up activities and ran over to the manager. Pep gave quick instructions while pointing towards a gap on the left side of Bournemouth's defense which was starting to falter.

"Change your jerseys immediately. William, I want you to come in and pass the balls as you do in training as quickly as possible. Sergio, you know what you have to do in the penalty box," instructed Pep while patting the two players on the back.

William immediately took off his training vest, revealing the number 11 jersey which he was ready to wear. He felt a strong rush of adrenaline; This is the time to prove his Speed synchronization in real match situations.

The sight of William and Agüero lining up on the touchline sparked an instant reaction from the away stand. Thousands of City fans immediately stood up and chanted enthusiastically.

"HEY! LOOK AT THAT! THE PRINCE AND THE KING OF GOALS!" shouted a City supporter while waving his sky blue scarf. Cheers of "William! William!" began to echo, mixed with chants for Agüero.

The reaction of Manchester City fans to seeing the two players immediately made the Vitaly stadium feel as if it were the Etihad.

Meanwhile, insults and cheers were immediately heard from the home stands where Bournemouth fans felt that with the entry of William and Aguero the match would become even more difficult for their team.

So they cheered and insulted the two players, they knew that William was still young and it was possible that with that much cheering his mentality might drop and not play stably - but what they didn't know was that within William there was experience as a player and assistant coach which made his mentality higher than even some of the senior players on the field today.

"Here it is, Alan! The change we've been waiting for. Pep Guardiola has just released two 'monsters' from the bench!" Martin Tyler exclaimed "A very cruel move from Pep. When the Bournemouth players were starting to get tired, he brought in Sergio Agüero who was hungry for goals and William Carter who had extraordinary game vision. This was a nightmare for Eddie Howe."

Alan Smith also commented on this "Look at William's face, Martin. The young man looks very calm, as if he is used to this kind of pressure. If Bournemouth don't adjust quickly, this match could be over in a matter of minutes."

William was standing next to the fourth official who was setting up the electronic board. Beside him, Agüero whispered something.

"Give me a good pass, kid. I'll finish it for you," Agüero said with a wink.

William smiled faintly and nodded. "I'll put the ball right in front of your feet, Sergio."

The television screen displayed a substitution graphic: Raheem Sterling OUT | William Carter IN and Gabriel Jesus OUT | Sergio Agüero IN.

The two players who were replaced immediately ran to the sidelines after shaking hands and parted ways – Agüero and William officially entered the battlefield today.

When the match resumed the impact of the two players was immediately visible where William now moved to the right side and Aguero moved as target man.

Just two minutes after setting foot on the Vitality Stadium grass, William immediately got his first test. Fernandinho grabbed the ball in midfield and without looking immediately passed it towards William who was on the right side of the field.

As soon as the ball touched his feet, William felt his Speed synchronization working perfectly. Charlie Daniels, exhausted after marking Sterling for 60 minutes, tried to close in to close down the space. However, William made one explosive touch forward.

"Look at that acceleration! William Carter just left Daniels as if the defender was standing still!" shouted Martin Tyler in disbelief.

William sped down the wing, past the Bournemouth defense line with extraordinary initial speed, with his acceleration increasing by +5–and the Bournemouth players pressed tight in the second half. William was three steps ahead of the player chasing him. He saw Agüero's clever movement slip between Nathan Aké and Steve Cook.

Without hesitation, he played the perfect through ball between the two defenders, sending Agüero racing towards goal.

"Beautiful pass from William!" said Alan Smith, his voice filled with excitement, almost shouting, "That's a chance! Agüero is behind—he just needs to finish!"

The crowd held their breath as Agüero controlled the ball to calm himself. He directed the ball into the bottom corner of the goal and fired. However, Asmir Begović this afternoon really looked like he was possessed. With almost impossible reflexes, he dropped his body to the right and stretched his arms as hard as he could. The tip of his glove managed to touch the ball, deflecting it just millimeters from the goal post.

Manchester City attacked again, William controlled the ball again and again this time after swapping positions with De Bruyne – he controlled the midfield, a quick one or two pass with David Silva got him out of Andrew Surman's control. The two exchanged sharp passes and danced in midfield.

When William looked up, he saw Bernardo Silva unguarded on the left wing. With one swift movement, he sent a perfectly curved diagonal pass towards his teammate.

"Extraordinary vision from William," said Martin Tyler. "He sees things that the defense doesn't see. That pass was perfectly targeted to Bernardo Silva."

Bernardo Silva controls the ball with one smooth touch, setting himself up for a cross. He lofted the ball towards Agüero, who had found space in front of Steve Cook.

However, the Bournemouth man was quick to react, leaping higher than Agüero with confidence and sweeping the ball out of the dangerous area.

"Steve's defense was outstanding," said Alan Smith, second commentator. "He knew exactly where Agüero wanted to be and didn't give him any space."

Entering the 70th minute, Bournemouth were really under intense pressure from Manchester City who did not give them the slightest breathing space. Every time Eddie Howe's men tried to build a counter-attack to get out of the pressure, William was always there, cutting off the flow of the ball with an extraordinary reading of the game as if he could see the line of the opponent's pass before the ball was released.

Ryan Fraser tried to initiate a quick counter-attack from the left side, he saw Dan Gosling moving freely in the space between the lines and immediately released a short, sharp pass. However, before Gosling could make his first touch to control the ball, a sky blue shadow shot over at high speed.

William Carter, using the fast acceleration that was now perfectly integrated with his physique, hit the ball's path with a very fast, clean and measured tackle. He didn't just throw the ball, but immediately controlled it under his own feet, making Gosling fall because he lost momentum.

Without hesitation, William turned and lunged forward, brushing off Andrew's obstacles in the process.

"Well, this is the William we've been waiting for!" Martin said, his voice rising with excitement. "He showed incredible determination and increased strength, brushing Andrew aside like it was nothing."

The Leicester fans cheered as William burst into the final third. He outwits Charlie with a clever move, then prepares to shoot from 20 yards.

The ball took a sharp turn as he curled a shot, heading towards the top corner of the goal. Asmir Begović, with incredible reflexes, jumped to his right, tipping the ball over the crossbar with his fingertips.

"William's shot was amazing!" Alan Smith exclaimed. "That shot was very hard, wasn't it? Asmir had to perform optimally and show a miracle to ward off the ball!"

The following corner kick made the Manchester City players step up, they wanted to score a goal and widen the gap in this match.

De Bruyne sent a long pass out which found Kompany at the near post. The captain, leaping above the crowd, met the ball with a narrow header, but it sailed just short of the goal post, just inches past the crossbar.

"Almost!" Martin said, his voice full of anticipation. "Kompany almost succeeded. Manchester City have almost locked in victory, but they haven't got the finishing touch yet."

On the sidelines, Guardiola clapped his hands and encouraged his players. Manchester City fans who felt that their team was likely to score a goal sang and cheered even louder.

Seeing his team continuing to be battered and his midfield starting to lose control due to William's actions, Eddie Howe immediately took quick action from the sidelines. He realized that allowing William to have even a little space was the same as giving City the key to victory.

Eddie Howe pulled out Dan Gosling who was looking overwhelmed and brought in Lewis Cook, a young midfielder with fresh energy and great mobility. As soon as Lewis Cook stepped onto the pitch, Howe gave very specific instructions with a sharp hand gesture: "Don't let William Carter turn around!"

Now, every time William approaches the ball, Lewis Cook immediately sticks to him like a shadow. Not only Lewis Cook, Nathan Aké also started to leave his position more often to double-team every time William accelerated on the right side.

"Notice the tactical changes from Eddie Howe. Lewis Cook is now William Carter's shadow. Howe knows that if he doesn't stop William's ball supply, Begović's goal will only be broken again." Martin Tyler exclaimed

"A very risky man-marking strategy, Martin. By sticking to William that tightly, Bournemouth automatically leaves gaps in other areas. However, this is the only way to reduce the vision of William who is in peak form today." Answer Will Smith with his strong analysis.

William felt the physical pressure increase drastically. Lewis Cook made several hard physical contacts, trying to disrupt his balance. This time William used his new skills in a real match. In the midst of being surrounded by Bournemouth players, William remained calm. He deliberately pulled Lewis Cook deeper into the wing, away from the central area. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva starting to move into the space his guards had just left.

William fired a pass towards the two players, the Bournemouth players realized that they had been very distracted by William so that the players could have more free space to move than usual.

The ball reached De Bruyne but before he could make the pass, the Bournemouth defender immediately lunged at him hard and made him fall.

The Manchester City players immediately protested to the referee and asked him to give the player a straight red card but the referee had his own decision, he only gave a yellow card after seeing that De Bruyne had nothing serious and could get up on his own.

Manchester City got a free kick but because the Bournemouth players gathered near the penalty box, this time the attack failed again.

In the 78th minute, William received a short pass from Danilo. Lewis Cook immediately pressed from behind, trying to win the ball or at least force William to make a mistake. Instead of turning around, William used Cook's body weight to maintain his balance.

Just as Nathan Aké moved forward to double-team, William made an unexpected move. Using the outside of his right foot, he released a very sharp and precise backheel pass, between Lewis Cook's legs.

"MAGIC TOUCH! William Carter just humiliated his guard!" shouted Martin Tyler hysterically.

"Time and time again we are amazed by the ability of this man, a young Manchester man who plays like a veteran"

The ball rolled sweetly right into the running path of Kevin De Bruyne who was now standing freely in front of the penalty box without a single Bournemouth player guarding him. Howe's man-marking strategy backfired fatally.

"Amazing! William used Lewis Cook as a support to create space for De Bruyne, it seems like the Bournemouth players forgot that a few minutes ago because they were too focused on William, some players weren't there to guard!" Alan Smith exclaimed.

Martin Tyler continued "De Bruyne has space! He has time! Begović looks frantic in his positioning!"

On the sidelines, Pep Guardiola seemed to be jumping for joy, realizing that William's vision had unraveled even Howe's most solid defensive plan. Meanwhile, Eddie Howe appeared to be holding his head in the technical area, realizing that his decision to give special instructions to William had actually opened the door to disaster for his goal.

In the stands, the City fans started cheering "Olé!" every time their players touch the ball, waiting for the third goal.

The pressure mounted on Bournemouth as Manchester City found their rhythm, each attack more targeted than the last. Guardiola's substitutions not only sharpened the attack but also opened up new avenues for Manchester City to exploit.

The atmosphere in the stadium was very lively, they were cheering for their team.

"The intensity of Manchester City's game is truly extraordinary!" Martin said excitedly. "They dominated this game too much, closing down Bournemouth's midfield and launching very dangerous attacks."

As the clock ticks down, the question on everyone's mind is whether Manchester City can maintain their momentum or whether Bournemouth will find a way to weather the storm.

Even though Manchester City had just threatened through William's brilliant vision, Bournemouth refused to just give up in front of their own supporters. Entering the 82nd minute, a small negligence in City's midfield resulted in Lewis Cook winning the ball, who immediately sent a long ball forward.

Jermain Defoe, with years of experience in the Premier League, managed to escape the offside trap that Nicolas Otamendi tried to set. The veteran striker exercised perfect chest control and immediately went head-to-head with Ederson.

"Golden opportunity for Bournemouth! Defoe off!" shouted Martin Tyler in a rising voice.

The audience held their breaths.

The cheers of the Bournemouth fans grew louder when Defoe's shot curled towards the bottom corner of the goal. Ederson, reacting in time, jumped as hard as he could, palming the ball away with a superb save. The clash between glove and ball was resounding, and the Manchester City goalkeeper's reflexes saved their team from Bournemouth's revenge.

"Amazing save from Ederson!" shouted commentator Martin, his voice shaking with awe. "Defoe's shot was on target, but Ederson's reflexes saved Manchester City. That's a world-class goalkeeper and the reason why Guardiola bought him!"

The tension in the stadium rose sharply as Manchester City tried hard to clear the ball from the dangerous area. Fernandinho dropped deep to pick up the loose ball.

Fernandinho immediately fired a pass to the right side where David Silva, who had swapped positions with William, was already there.

"Oh–fast attack by Manchester City, and look William he found space in the middle" said Akan Smith, his voice rising with enthusiasm.

David Silva, who had been running at full speed, dashed forward, attracting the attention of the Bournemouth defenders. He had seen William's movements in front of him. Quickly looking back, Silva launched a very precise pass, the ball shot through the air and landed just as William burst into open space on the far side.

The audience simultaneously held their breath as the ball flew towards William. Adam Smith, Bournemouth's full-back, approached quickly.

William's first touch was perfect. He controls the ball with his right foot, placing it right at his feet, even when Adam makes a tackle. The crowd cheered happily, impressed by the composure displayed by the young playmaker.

"Amazing! William's first touch was perfect!" shouted Martin Tyler. "That's a player at the top of his game—controlled and calm under pressure."

William's eyes never left the goal. Without hesitation, he glanced up, saw the space in front of him, and made a decision: he would attack the goal.

As Adam Smith raced towards him, William feigned a cross towards the middle, but with sharp acceleration, he cut inside. The Bournemouth defender, caught off guard by the sudden change of direction, had to scramble to catch up.

"Look at how his acceleration is always three steps ahead of the opposing player, Adam Smith is completely helpless," Alan exclaimed. "And now William has a one-on-one chance with the goalkeeper. Can he score a goal?"

William is now facing one on one with Asmir Begović. Time seemed to slow down for William as he entered the penalty box. Begović tried to narrow the shooting space by taking a few steps forward, his arms spread wide to cover every angle.

William did not immediately fire a hard shot. He made a fake shoulder movement to the right which made Begović react by shifting his weight. In that crucial second, William used the inside of his right foot to play a very soft chip ball.

The ball bounced slowly, passed the reach of Begović's fallen hand, and rolled beautifully towards the empty goal. Nathan Aké tried to run as fast as possible to sweep the ball across the goal line, but his efforts were in vain; the ball hits the net first.

"GOAL! GOAL! GOAL! A MASTERPIECE FROM WILLIAM CARTER!" shouted Martin Tyler in a voice hoarse with admiration. "What composure! He didn't just get past the defense, he played off an experienced goalkeeper like Begović with a very cool chip!"

Alan Smith was also excited "Look at that, Martin! Adam Smith was completely floored by his acceleration, and his finishing... it's something you'd expect from a world class player in his prime, not from an 18 year old!"

The stadium erupted in a cacophony of sound, the roar of the Manchester City fans coming from far away being the loudest.

William immediately ran towards the corner of the field, where the Manchester City fans were. He spread his arms wide while smiling calmly, a celebration that was now starting to become his trademark. Sergio Agüero and Kevin De Bruyne immediately approached him, hugging him with extraordinary pride.

The Manchester City fans in the stands were overjoyed, waving scarves and singing because they felt that victory was already on their side.

"Wow – what a goal" Fernandinho shouted at William amidst the roar of the crowd. Before they hugged happily.

sideline, Guardiola couldn't contain his excitement. He jumped and punched the air, clapping and hugging his assistants, his voice full of pride. "That's what I meant! Good job, guys!"

After the Manchester City players returned from their celebration, the match continued.

However, after the match resumed, Bournemouth showed no signs of giving up; instead, they launched a very aggressive desperate attack, as if they were playing in the Champions League final. Eddie Howe pushed all his players forward, creating a wave of attacks that forced Manchester City's defense to remain disciplined under intense pressure.

Despite being "beaten" by the hosts' high determination, Vincent Kompany and Nicolas Otamendi showed extraordinary composure in blocking the high balls that continued to be sent into the penalty box. William Carter did not remain silent; he dropped deep back to help the defence, using his acceleration stats to close down space whenever Ryan Fraser or Joshua King tried to penetrate.

"The spirit shown by Bournemouth is extraordinary! They attacked non-stop, but City remained as strong as a wall," shouted Martin Tyler seeing the chaos in front of Ederson's goal.

"This was a real mental test. Bournemouth played as if their lives depended on these minutes, but Pep Guardiola's tactical discipline really showed here." Alan Smith said excitedly. "Look at how William Carter instructed his teammates to stay tight. This young man really has a leadership spirit even though he just scored a great individual goal."

Pep Guardiola stood in the technical area with a serious face, occasionally shouting for his wingers not to be late in helping. Meanwhile, Eddie Howe continued to give instructions for his players to keep pressing, hoping that one small mistake could reduce the deficit.

In the stands, Bournemouth fans gave their full support even though their team was behind, while City fans began to worry seeing the intensity of the opponent's attacks which seemed to have no end.

Minute after minute passed – Bournemouth attacked with all their efforts, but Manchester City's tactical discipline paid off. The final whistle sounded and the final score of today's match was 1-3 with the visiting team leading.
