Chapter 16 - Chapter Sixteen: Anger Dominating Between the Two Poles

Jaguar understood her ironic words. He stared at her for a moment, then let out a loud, joyless laugh. He suddenly bent down, pulled the covers hard, and threw them on the floor. He said harshly:

- A loving husband? I haven't even received my rights as a husband yet... how could I be a loving husband?

He grabbed her hand firmly and pulled her out of bed. She found herself standing directly in front of him. He looked into her eyes with anger and threatened:

- Those words made me think again, Fati. Do not speak to me this way again, or I will really demand my rights as a loving husband!

Then he moved his face very close to hers, until she felt his angry breath on her skin. He whispered:

- I do not play roles, Fati. I only take back what is mine.

She trembled for a moment at his twisted logic. When she used to long for her basic rights as a wife, he always pushed her away. And now, he comes back to demand what he thinks he owns! But she gathered her courage, looked into his eyes with firm determination, and said:

- After you caused my grandfather's death and threw me into poverty and hunger during the hardest days of my life... I don't think you have the right to ask for anything, you hateful husband!

Suddenly, her eyes burned with a deep anger, then quickly turned into cold ashes. She continued:

- Do not ask for what is yours... because when you throw something away with neglect, someone else will come to protect it and take it.

Fati moved away from him toward the bathroom. She coldly bent down to pick up the bathrobe from the floor, not caring about his gaze on her long legs and her body shown through his shirt. She spoke words that felt like a death sentence:

- I removed you from my heart and my life six years ago... so do not try to come back.

She did not turn back to see the effect of her words on him. She just kept walking until she disappeared behind the closed bathroom door, leaving him in total shock.

The words

Someone else will take it

Hit Jaguar like a loud explosion. Jealousy started burning in his heart. Was that man her lover for the past six years? Did she replace her love for Jaguar with a man who stayed by her side during her hardest times? He bitterly remembered how that man drove her to the hospital, gave her food, and said goodbye with a smile on her first day. He wanted to break the door in anger, but he didn't. Instead, he decided to find out who this man was. He dressed quickly and left the apartment like a storm.

Fati waited until she heard him leave before coming out in her bathrobe. She looked for her clothes and found them in the laundry room; they smelled terrible because she had vomited on them last night. She realized she had truly lost control of her body. She walked through his large apartment, wondering what to wear to work. She went into his dressing room and chose a long shirt and a pair of shorts, fixing them with a black belt. She looked decent enough. She fixed her hair and left the building, only to find the hospital was right across the street. He had moved there to be near his grandfather... and in future near her.

She reached her workplace in less than two minutes. It is a great feeling for a doctor to be so close to their patients to save lives. She went straight to her office and sat at her desk to check the cases, but "The Grandfather" was her main priority. When she asked for his physical file, she was told it was missing she was the last one to have it. She realized Jaguar must have taken it. With a clear mind, she studied the digital records on the system and finally discovered why his health was failing. She created a bold medical plan, including a surgery that could be dangerous, but it was the only way to save him.

She noted down every detail and then checked on her other patients with confidence. She went out to visit the wards, looking professional even in her improvised clothes. But when she returned to her office, she froze; Jaguar was there, sitting and waiting for her as if he had never left.

It seemed he would never leave her alone. He looked more formal and composed today, except for the dark circles around his eyes that showed his lack of sleep. She said with professional coldness,

- It is good that you are here, sir.

Jaguar noticed his clothes peeking from under her white doctor's coat. She understood his look immediately and pulled her coat tighter to hide what was underneath.

She walked past him with dignity. A nurse followed her with files for three surgeries scheduled for tomorrow. Fati sat down and discussed the cases using complex medical terms; she looked like a powerful woman who mastered her profession. Once the nurse left, Fati focused on her papers and said,

- Since I am the doctor in charge of your grandfather's file, I want to discuss his condition and treatment with you.

Then she looked up at him and added,

- Shall I tell you about the method I believe will save him?

Jaguar came there to ask about her lover, the man who had been haunting his thoughts all morning. But her talk about his grandfather made him change his mind and focus on her words. He said,

- What do you advise... Doctor?

- I see his condition is getting worse; his pulse is weak, and the brain scans show serious setbacks during his coma

She opened the screen in front of them and pointed to a scan of his grandfather's brain:

Here... I see bleeding. This is very dangerous. We must stop this bleeding immediately.

She turned toward him and said firmly,

- I am thinking of a surgery that might put his life at risk, but it is better than letting him die slowly.

Shocked, he asked with fear,

- Do you mean you will risk his life to save him? Is this what they call mercy killing?

Fati kept her face expressionless, her eyes like cold ice. She said slowly and confidently,

- No, I want him to wake up. We must save him, and this time... I will not let you stop me from saving him.

Jaguar asked her with losing patience,

- Did I ever stop you from saving him?

She answered with bitterness that had stayed in her throat for years,

- Yes... when you crashed into me and stopped me from giving him CPR. That could have saved him then, and he would be sitting with us today.

She paused, then continued,

- I was studying medical books to become a doctor. I knew he had a stroke and needed quick resuscitation and oxygen to make his heart beat again... but you stopped me.

She looked at his shocked face and added with a mix of strength and pleading,

- I won't say 'what if'... but this time, let me save him... please.

Jaguar was lost in thought. He remembered how she threw herself on his grandfather. He thought she was just a child who didn't understand, but he didn't realize she was fighting death. He believed her now, as he remembered her hands pressing on his grandfather's heart. He was silent for a moment, then said coldly,

- Fine... but I have one condition.
