Chapter 24 - The Hunter’s Gale

The red grid in the sky didn't just change the color of the moonlight; it changed the frequency of the air itself. In the luxury marinas of Tangier and the high-end hotels overlooking the Strait, thousands of smartphones and tactical HUDs chimed simultaneously. It was a sound that signaled the end of a career for some, and a chance at godhood for others.

[WORLD BOUNTY ACTIVE][Target: Jin (The Glitch)][Reward: 1,000,000,000 Credits + Permanent S-Rank Status]

Jin stood on the crumbling ledge of the Cap Spartel lighthouse, watching the city below transform. The lights of Tangier, usually warm and welcoming, now felt like the glowing eyes of a predator. He could feel it—the collective greed of every hunter within a hundred-mile radius.

"Mi-na," Jin whispered, his breath visible in the static-charged air. "How much time do we have before the first wave arrives?"

Mi-na's holographic form appeared, but she was flickering more than usual. The red containment grid was interfering with her data stream. "The 'Architects' have locked the Moroccan borders, Jin. No one can leave, but those already inside... they are all coming for you. I detect over fifty Rank-A signals and three Rank-S signatures moving toward this lighthouse. Estimated time of arrival: four minutes."

Jin looked at his hands. The Atlas Blade was still humming with the energy of the land, but the Glitch Dagger was pulsing a dark, angry crimson. He was tired, his mana was low, and his body was still recovering from the 'Data Nullification' wounds inflicted by The Eraser.

"We can't fight them all here," Jin muttered. "A lighthouse is a beacon, not a fortress. We need to go where the System has no eyes."

"The Rif Mountains?" Mi-na suggested. "The geological interference there is naturally high. It's a blind spot for the Global Server."

Jin nodded. He activated [Atlas Mapping]. A 3D blue holographic map of northern Morocco expanded in front of him. He looked for a specific path—one not recorded in any modern GPS. He found it: an ancient caravan route that bled into a glitching zone near the town of Chefchaouen.

Suddenly, a missile shrieked through the air.

Jin dived off the balcony just as the top of the lighthouse exploded into a fireball. He didn't fall; he used [Glitched Step] to kick off the air itself, creating temporary platforms of blue code. Below him, three black military helicopters with the Global Association logo were rising from the ocean.

"Target sighted!" a voice boomed from the lead chopper's speakers. "By the authority of the Architects, surrender the Source Code, or be deleted!"

Jin didn't answer. He landed on the beach below and sprinted toward the dark silhouettes of the mountains. Behind him, the helicopters opened fire. Tracers of violet energy—specially designed to track 'Glitches'—tore through the sand.

"Zero-Day, provide cover!" Jin yelled.

The small drone emerged from the shadows, its red eye glowing. [Skill: EMP Burst]. A wave of electromagnetic energy surged from the drone, causing the helicopters' navigation systems to flicker. It was only a five-second window, but for Jin, five seconds was an eternity.

He reached the tree line of the forest at the base of the mountains. Here, the air was different. It felt heavy with history. As he ran, Jin felt the Atlas Ring getting warmer. The ancient spirits of the land were reacting to the foreign invaders.

But as he looked back, he saw something that made his blood run cold. One of the Rank-S signatures was moving faster than the others. It wasn't a helicopter. It was a man running across the surface of the sea, leaving a trail of frozen water behind him.

It was The Frostbite, a Rank-S hunter from Northern Europe, known for freezing entire servers to stop a virus. He was already reaching the shore, his eyes fixed on the mountain where Jin disappeared.

"The hunt isn't just starting," Jin thought, his legs burning as he climbed higher into the rocky terrain. "The world has finally arrived at my doorstep."

The mountains were supposed to be his sanctuary, but tonight, they were becoming a graveyard.
