Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: Devour

Surtur sensed the threat behind him, his massive body spinning around as his giant flaming sword swept across.

Marvica sidestepped to avoid it, the blade grazing her shoulder as the scorching air waves baked her armor until it was searing hot.

She flicked her wrist, and sun-blaze thousand suns slashed along the trajectory of the giant sword. Golden-red flames collided with the deep blue Fire of Destruction, letting out a piercing sizzle as sparks flew in all directions.

At the same time, Hela's hundreds of black swords had already rushed to Surtur's side, stabbing fiercely at the joints of his limbs.

"Puchi! Puchi!"

Some of the black swords broke through the defense of the lava shell and pierced into Surtur's body.

But his body was composed of magma; the wounds were instantly filled by boiling lava. The black swords were enveloped and melted by the magma, unable to cause any real DMG at all.

"Hahaha, useless!" Surtur laughed wildly, the flames around him suddenly surging to form a terrifying firestorm.

The storm swept in all directions, swallowing all of Hela's black swords. The high temperature caused the very air to begin Burning. Marvica and Hela were caught in the storm, finding it difficult to stabilize themselves.

It had to be said that this was the most powerful opponent the sisters, Marvica and Hela, had encountered during their conquest of the Nine Realms.

Surtur, the leader of the Fire Giants, was so powerful that Marvica and Hela would have almost no chance of winning if they faced him alone.

Within the firestorm domain unleashed by Surtur, even with Marvica and Hela joining forces, they were actually completely suppressed by him for a time.

The Asgardian army in the rear watched the battlefield ahead nervously. This was the first time they had seen the sun goddess and the Goddess of Death fall into a disadvantage while fighting together.

They wanted to help, but they simply had no way to intervene.

Marvica and Hela's figures were like lone boats in a storm, at risk of capsizing at any moment.

This couldn't go on!

Both sisters realized this.

A flash of ruthlessness crossed Hela's eyes. She suddenly threw mjolnir, and dark green energy spread along the thunder hammer, transforming into a massive Death Chain that entangled Surtur's giant flaming sword.

"Sister! Do it!"

Marvica understood immediately, and the two types of divine power within her body fused completely.

Her pale gold long hair transformed into the phantom of a Burning phoenix. sun-blaze thousand suns let out a heaven-shaking hum as the Solar Runes and Spatial Runes on the blade lit up simultaneously.

Marvica's figure turned into a giant fire phoenix with a wingspan dozens of yards wide. Golden-red flames were mixed with multicolored light, carrying the power to purify all things as she dove toward Surtur's chest.

sun-blaze thousand suns became the phoenix's sharp beak, its edge fully exposed and capable of tearing through any defense.

Surtur's expression changed slightly. He felt the terrifying power of this strike and wanted to pull back his giant flaming sword, but it was held fast by the Death Chain.

Flames spread along the Death Chain to Hela, the terrifying heat making her let out a muffled groan.

Blood seeped from the corner of her mouth, only to be Vaporized by the high temperature in an instant.

But even so, Hela still firmly controlled Surtur's movements, giving him no chance to break free.

Surtur roared as the lava around him surged frantically, attempting to condense a shield once more.

But the fire phoenix's speed was too fast. Before the shield could form, she had already reached his chest.

"Puchi—!"

sun-blaze thousand suns stabbed fiercely into Surtur's chest. Golden-red flames and multicolored energy erupted instantly, flooding into his body through the wound.

Surtur let out a wail of pain. Marvica exerted her full strength, and sun-blaze thousand suns ignited with a blinding light.

The fire phoenix that Marvica had become let out a clear cry and completely pierced through Surtur's body.

Entering from his chest and emerging from his back.

Surtur gave a heaven-shaking roar. A massive hole appeared in his chest, through which the sky behind him could be seen.

Marvica's figure emerged from the phoenix phantom. Her face was somewhat pale, as the strike just now had clearly consumed a large amount of divine power, but her eyes still flashed with a determined light.

She turned to look at Hela. By now, Hela's arms had been burned beyond recognition by the flames; the skin was charred and peeling away to reveal the white bone beneath, and even the connections of the dark green chain were beginning to Melt.

"We succeeded..." Hela laughed hoarsely, her voice sounding like a broken bellows: "Sister, we..."

Before she could finish, a sudden change occurred.

Surtur did not fall.

The Flaming Crown atop Surtur's head suddenly erupted with a dazzling light. Deep blue flames were mixed with golden streamers—that was the power of the Eternal Flame!

Then, a scene that drove everyone to despair took place.

The hole began to heal.

It wasn't a slow repair, but a visible reorganization, as if time were flowing backward.

Lava surged from the edges, connecting, solidifying, and reconstructing the structure of his chest.

Platinum flames flowed through the new tissue, granting it even greater power than before.

Marvica's expression changed drastically. She hadn't expected Surtur's recovery ability to be so terrifying; the power of the Eternal Flame far exceeded her imagination.

She didn't have time to think. The remaining divine power in her body erupted again as she turned and charged straight for Surtur's head.

A flash of cunning crossed Surtur's eyes. He deliberately loosened his resistance to the giant sword, allowing Hela's chain to pull it aside.

Just as Marvica rushed in front of him, he suddenly opened his massive palm, which erupted with a powerful suction. Simultaneously, his other hand swung out quickly, and a thick wall of lava rose instantly, blocking Marvica's retreat.

"A trap!" Marvica was startled. She wanted to turn and retreat, but found her body firmly locked by the suction.

Surtur's palm was like a giant vortex, forcibly dragging her body toward him.

She swung sun-blaze thousand suns, golden-red flames constantly cutting at the surrounding lava walls, but the walls were empowered by the Eternal Flame and could not be destroyed at all.

"Sister—!" Hela's eyes felt like they were splitting.

She let go of the chain abruptly, ignoring the flames still Burning on her arms. The Death Divine Power within her surged frantically, and dark green energy condensed in front of her into several giant black swords dozens of yards high.

The black swords were covered in hideous Death Runes, emitting a suffocating aura.

"Puchi! Puchi!"

The moment the black swords pierced through the lava skin, they made a dull thud.

The sharp blades stabbed into Surtur's body, and magma flowed along the blades with a sizzling sound.

But Surtur seemed completely oblivious. He simply turned around, his giant flaming sword spinning in his hand as deep blue flames condensed into a massive slash.

The flaming slash carried the power to tear heaven and earth apart as it cleaved fiercely toward Hela.

Hela had no time to dodge and could only subconsciously raise her arms in defense.

"Boom—!"

The slash struck her body hard. The crisp sound of breaking bones was clearly audible, and dark green blood sprayed out like a fountain, splashing onto the lava ground.

Hela's body flew out like a kite with a broken string, tracing a long arc through the air for a full thousand meters before crashing heavily into a boiling sea of magma.
