Mrs. Miller rose, pushing the chair back. "We have pondered enough on this matter. We should go to bed for now and talk again tomorrow."
Sienna sighed in relief. There was a tomorrow!
After they left, she remained alone at the table for a while longer, pondering on the issue. Were her days going to be filled with conflict, nosy relatives or peace? Lady Cadelaria had already moved in, and she was trouble enough.
"What did you decide?" Elias's voice came from the bottom of the stairs.
She tilted her head and watched him walk towards her slowly. He went to the kitchen and poured himself a glass of wine. When he returned, he pulled a chair across from her and sat down.
"My mother thinks we should endure and play nice first." Sienna replied, her eyes a storm of confusion.
