"Lucian is my cousin," Silas said, the name leaving his mouth like it tasted of something rotten which he had been forced to swallow too many times and had never quite digested. "Or should I say, the arrogant asshole and golden child of the Malgrave family."
"Wow, wow." Salvar side-eyed him, a teasing lilt creeping into his voice, though his eyes were watchful. "That sounds an awful lot like jealousy."
Silas didn't return the look. The tension in his shoulders his rose and his fingers curled against the railing. He exhaled, long and slow, and leaned his weight into the metal. Below them, the city crawled with tiny cars and miniature people. "Who wouldn't be jealous of that bastard?"
Salvar shifted, turning his body sideways against the railing and giving Silas his full attention. The teasing edge faded from his voice. "Why did I never hear about him in my previous life? Did I miss my homework? I thought I knew almost everything about you."
