Kay and I stayed in the orchid house for a little less than an hour after bidding my sister farewell. In all that time he didn't ask me a single question. In fact, he didn't speak much at all.
I appreciated it. I needed space. Not space from him, just space enough to properly process my feelings.
My sister's story filled in a few holes I'd been forced to live with up to this point. Chief of which being how she hadn't attempted to reach out to me. While I'd never blamed her for her radio silence, I'd always silently wondered why.
We hadn't always been on the best terms but I felt we'd at least been close enough to miss the other in their absence.
