Chapter 46 - Chapter 46: The Bargain of Shadows

The neon lights of Rainbase reflected in the cold, dark eyes of Nico Robin. She stood still, watching Kai as if he were a puzzle she had never seen before. To her, men in the Grand Line were usually simple—they wanted power, fame, or gold. But Kai? He spoke of 'History' and 'Soul Trading' with a calm that felt more dangerous than a Devil Fruit power.

"You speak of history as if it's something you can put in a box and sell," Robin said, her voice dropping to a whisper. Around them, the city's noise seemed to fade, replaced by the heavy tension of two people who knew too much.

Kai leaned against the cool sandstone of a nearby building. "Everything has a price, Robin. History is just a memory that someone wants to hide. And when someone hides something, it becomes valuable. That is the basic rule of the market."

Kai looked at his system screen, then back at the woman in white. "I know you aren't here for Crocodile's dream. You're here for the Poneglyph. You want the truth of the Void Century. And I... I can help you find it without becoming a puppet of a Warlord."

Robin's heart skipped a beat. For years, she had survived by being a shadow, a tool for powerful men. No one had ever offered to help her for 'free' or as an equal partner.

"And what would the 'Soul Trader' want in return?" she asked, her hands hidden in her coat, ready to sprout a hundred arms if this was a trap.

"A connection," Kai replied simply. "I want a seat at the table when the world starts to change. Crocodile is a businessman, but he's a bad one. He destroys the things he can't control. A real merchant preserves value."

Suddenly, the ground beneath them began to vibrate. A low, rumbling sound echoed from the direction of the Rain Dinners Casino. The sand in the alleyway started to swirl in unnatural patterns, forming small, sharp tornados.

[Status: Sir Crocodile is growing impatient.]

"He's calling me back," Robin said, her eyes looking toward the massive pyramid-shaped casino. "If I stay here any longer, he will send the Millions to tear this alley apart. You should leave, Kai. This city is a desert trap, and once the sand starts to move, no one escapes."

"I don't escape," Kai said, his golden eyes glowing with a faint, violet light as he stepped toward the danger instead of away from it. "I trade. Tell your boss that I'll be visiting his casino tonight. I have a soul I think he'd find very interesting... his own."

Vivi, who had been silent in the shadows, stepped forward, her face pale. "Kai, you can't be serious! Entering Rain Dinners is a suicide mission. It's filled with traps and the strongest agents of the organization!"

"Then it's a good thing I'm not going there to gamble with money," Kai said, a confident smirk on his face. "I'm going there to break the house."

[New Mission: Breaking the Bank.]

[Objective: Enter Rain Dinners and confront the 'Desert King' in his office.]

[Reward: 200 Soul Coins + 'Warlord's Secret'.]
