Chapter 334: Buy One Get Two — What a Steal
Admiral Kizaru: "The instant Mr. Stark popped up, this old man had a feeling he was about to start digging his own grave. Mr. Stark's always had that blunt, say-what's-on-his-mind reputation, after all — tends to blurt out whatever's actually in his head."
Admiral Kizaru: "Normally, a genius like him shouldn't have emotional intelligence this low — so we can safely conclude Mr. Stark was just having a grand old time courting disaster on purpose."
Senbei Is So Tasty: "Whether Stark's courting disaster or not, I couldn't say. What I DO know is... Borsalino, your paperwork from last week still isn't done!"
Senbei Is So Tasty: "You've got time to spam the chat group but not to finish your paperwork? If you don't clear last week's backlog within three days, this month's bonus is getting zeroed out, and your salary's getting cut to 80%!"
Admiral Kizaru: "H-hold on, hold on — zero bonus AND an 80% salary? Who could survive that! But there's just so much paperwork. Any chance I could call in Sakazuki and Kuzan to help out?"
My True Form Is Cola: "Poor Kizaru-ojisan, ever since he left the salted fish faction he's just been sinking deeper down a road of no return. Moment of silence for you."
Terrible Tornado: "Wait, Stark's not actually right, is he? Admin-sama isn't seriously going for a harem, is he?! suddenly on guard"
Terrible Tornado: "I mean, I'm a girl too, but I am absolutely a committed singles-lifer! Admin-sama, stay away from me! If you want targets, go for Little Kaguya, Little Umaru, or Eriri — those three are way easier marks, lowest difficulty around."
Street-Corner Illustrator: "Pfft... since when did Tornado-senpai have zero shame? Ah, it's gotta be Yukari-senpai's bad influence rubbing off on her!"
Street-Corner Illustrator: "Come to think of it, should I be on guard around Admin-sama too? I mean, he is genuinely handsome, but we've only known each other for less than a year..."
RawrSoFierce: "...You all really do let your imaginations run wild, don't you? And whatever nonsense Stark was on about with 'three' — Sakura's a five-year-old kid, not part of anybody's headcount. 'Two' is the only number that was ever on the table."
Eternally Seventeen: "So the infuriating Admin-sama really does have his eye on Blue and Orange, huh! Trying to have one on each arm?"
RawrSoFierce: "Eh? Aren't they the legendary dowry shikigami, though?"
Eternally Seventeen: "Dowry my foot! There's absolutely no such thing."
RawrSoFierce: "But they're your shikigami — if they're not coming along as a dowry, where else would they even go?"
Eternally Seventeen: "Emmm... eh?! I actually have nothing to say to that! Unacceptable!"
Crazy Diamond: "Buy one get two — the envy's giving me a full osmotic crisis, AAAAAH!"
Crazy Diamond: "Yukari-senpai posted photos of her two shikigami in the group way back — looks that don't lose to a single female member in this whole chat group, and one's got fox ears, the other cat ears!"
Crazy Diamond: "Admin-sama, you could honestly update your nickname now, you know."
RawrSoFierce: "I can change my nickname? Change it to what?"
Crazy Diamond: "How about [Gensokyo Youkai-Girl Harvester]? Doesn't that fit Admin-sama's image perfectly?"
RawrSoFierce: "...Fit my foot. Do I really come across as that unhinged?"
"..."
While Ryū was killing time spamming the chat group, Observation Haki suddenly picked up on something strange, and he found himself glancing up toward the sky without meaning to.
Two figures had abruptly entered the edge of his Observation Haki's range.
Though they were still a thousand-odd meters above the ground, he could still "see" with perfect clarity exactly who was approaching.
The moment he made out their forms, Ryū had already put two and two together.
The figures descending from the sky weren't enemies at all — they were the Dragon Ball world's own Kami, and Kami's servant, Mr. Popo!
With this much commotion kicked up down on the ground — King Piccolo captured alive, no less — there was no way Kami wasn't going to come down and investigate.
Especially since Ryū and the others were total unknowns — even Kami had no idea where these people had come from, or how they'd come by power this overwhelming.
The kind of power that could carve out a mirror-space on a whim, tear open dimensional passages without breaking a sweat, and psychokinetic force strong enough to make even a Kami's heart skip a beat.
None of it looked like anything native to Earth — and if it had been, Kami was certain he'd have known about it already.
"Yara yara, Admin-sama, do we have company? Doesn't look like they're hostile, at least."
Yukari had already sensed the two descending from the sky at high speed herself, and she'd been watching Ryū's reaction closely too.
Seeing Ryū stay completely unmoved by it, Yukari could already guess the newcomers weren't a threat — probably some plot-relevant character the Admin already knew about.
At Yukari's questioning look, Ryū nodded. "That's the Dragon Ball world's Kami coming down. He and King Piccolo used to be one and the same — Piccolo was the evil half Kami forcibly split off from himself, way back when."
"I see..." Yukari nodded thoughtfully, murmuring to herself. "So this Kami's the one who created something as marvelous as the Dragon Balls, then? Wish-granting orbs — now that's interesting."
Honestly, Yukari's interest in the Dragon Balls ran even deeper than her interest in the quest's reward — no matter how she looked at them, the things felt like a straight-up broken mechanic.
Sure, the Admin had already mentioned the Balls had a ceiling — a wish beyond that ceiling simply couldn't be granted.
Wishing for the power to punch out the entire universe in a single blow, say — even the supersized Namekian Dragon Balls couldn't pull off something that absurd.
But anything within that ceiling — eternal youth, changing your sex, whatever — was no problem at all. Just work up the nerve to ask, and the Dragon Balls would deliver.
Under the watchful eyes of the chat group, the Dragon Ball world's Kami and his servant Mr. Popo touched down smoothly on a flying carpet.
On the surface, Kami looked practically identical to King Piccolo — the only real difference between the two was in the air each one carried.
King Piccolo's dark, malevolent presence made it obvious at a glance that he was no good.
Kami, by comparison, came across as a good deal more agreeable at first glance.
Pity he was still just a touch ugly, though — something about him gave off serious oversized-humanoid-bug vibes.
