Chapter 289: The New Year's Festival Event
The Dragon Ball world's cultivation system was, without question, extraordinarily powerful—but without any real aptitude for that particular path, Kaguya Shinomiya wasn't the type to force it. Beating her head against a wall she couldn't break through would accomplish nothing.
Besides, the One Piece world's power system was already more than enough to make her stronger.
She might not have a Skill Breakthrough Card, but Constitution had no upper limit at all. As long as she kept building it up, she'd keep getting stronger—slowly but surely.
On top of that, whenever she'd saved up enough Points, she'd head into the Arena and cut down whatever monsters or enemies spawned there, patching up her own weak points along the way.
Between the two, even sticking purely to the One Piece system, she wasn't at any risk of stalling out—not for the next six months to a year, at least.
Tatsumaki's psychokinesis ceiling, meanwhile, was even higher. Word was she still hadn't found the edge of it, possibly because a certain bald caped hero back home had already dragged that whole world's power ceiling up with him.
Which meant that in the better part of a year since Tatsumaki had joined the group, no matter how many Points she poured in, she still hadn't managed to touch the limit of her own psychokinesis.
Not a bad problem to have, really. A higher ceiling just meant faster growth from here.
Unlike Kaguya, Kizaru, Sengoku, and Whitebeard, all of whom were bottlenecked by the ceilings of their respective cultivation systems, which meant their growth had slowed compared to everyone else in the group.
Kaguya-sama: Admin-sama mentioned before that during group events, an item called a "Skill Breakthrough Card" sometimes drops—it can smash straight through a technique's ceiling.
Kaguya-sama: Like, say Armament Haki's current ceiling is Perfection tier—use one of those Breakthrough Cards, and suddenly Armament Haki has no proficiency ceiling at all.
Kaguya-sama: I really wish one of those would drop for me sometime.
Eternally Seventeen: As far as I know, Admin-sama's the only one in this whole chat who's ever pulled a Breakthrough Card, right?
Crazy Diamond: The envy is giving me an osmotic crisis. Something with that much value—converted to Points, that's gotta be worth at least 50,000, right?
Crazy Diamond: And Admin-sama said he got TWO of them before. So just from one group-event gift box, that's 100,000 Points' worth of loot!
Eternally Seventeen: UNACCEPTABLE...public enemy of the entire chat group! Someone go kill this European-luck holder already—why does a person this absurdly lucky even get to exist?
Terrible Tornado: Not sure how lucky Admin actually is, but Yukari-senpai's definitely cursed.
Kaguya-sama: Pfft...that's way too accurate. Honestly the only person whose luck can even compete with Yukari-nee's is Mr. Stark.
I'm Rolling In It: Bullshit, Uncle Tony's luck is great, thank you very much!
I Am Thor, God of Thunder!: Didn't you say just yesterday your sign-in only got you 2 Points?
I'm Rolling In It: ...some truths are better left unspoken.
Roar of the Evil Dragon: Maybe Mr. Stark's hit his zodiac curse year. That would explain it.
My True Form Is Cola: Does the zodiac curse year thing even apply to you, Thor-nee? Isn't that a Chinese cultural concept?
Roar of the Evil Dragon: Obviously I picked it up online. With how fast I learn, picking up any human language is effortless. And since I love browsing Chinese internet content, I've slowly absorbed a lot of their culture too.
RawrSoFierce: And there goes another one, corrupted by the internet.
My True Form Is Cola: Gotta hand it to Chinese internet fiction though, the sheer creativity puts everywhere else to shame. It's just—so LONG. Seven, eight million characters, sometimes over ten million, dragging on forever like an old woman's foot-binding cloth.
Eternally Seventeen: Wait, how did the topic randomly veer off into this?
RawrSoFierce: Isn't derailing at the speed of light basically this chat's defining trait?
Eternally Seventeen: Σ(°Д°!) I genuinely have nothing to say to that!

Letting out a helpless, amused huff, Ryū pulled his consciousness out of the Dimensional Chat Group and was just about to head to the bathroom when—
Suddenly, a notification window popped up out of nowhere in the chat group lodged in his mind.
Ryū froze mid-step, barely a few paces from where he'd been sitting. He slipped back into the Dimensional Chat Group and found himself staring at a pop-up whose first three bolded, oversized characters immediately snagged his attention.
[The group event "New Year's Grand Carnival" is about to begin! 2 days remain until the "New Year's Grand Carnival" opens—countdown: 47:59:59!
All food, drink, entertainment, and fun during this event is fully covered by the Dimensional Chat Group.
Every member of the chat group is welcome to participate! A grand event gift box will be awarded to all participants once the event concludes!
Total event duration: 3 days. Within 30 minutes of the event ending, participants may freely leave the event world.
Failure to leave the event world within that 30-minute window will result in a forced return to your home world!
Currently, three event worlds are available for selection, as follows:
Event World 1: The Wandering Earth
Event World 2: Jackie Chan Adventures
Event World 3: One Piece
Chat group Admin, "RawrSoFierce," please select one of the three worlds above to serve as this year's "New Year's Grand Carnival" event world.
This crossover is entirely free of charge!]
...
Once he'd finished reading the whole pop-up, Ryū froze for a solid second. Unless he was misremembering, wasn't today only December 15th?
New Year's Day was January 1st—that left at least a couple weeks still to go. Oh, wait, right—he'd almost forgotten: the Dimensional Chat Group didn't run on the Naruto world's calendar at all.
So the "New Year's Grand Carnival" event was kicking off in just two days. As far as group events went, Ryū was always thrilled to see one—because crossing worlds for it came completely free!
And every single group event came with a grand gift box, which was guaranteed to have something good inside.
Back during the last Mid-Autumn Festival event, he'd pulled several thousand Points, plus two Skill Breakthrough Cards.
Those two Breakthrough Cards alone had to be worth at least 100,000 Points.
Of course, aside from the guaranteed event badge, everything else in the gift box was random—what you actually pulled came down entirely to luck.
The Wandering Earth, Jackie Chan Adventures, One Piece—these are this year's three New Year event world options? Setting aside Jackie Chan Adventures, which doesn't have anyone from that world in the chat group, both of the other two have characters and settings already represented right here!
Muttering to himself, Ryū decided against picking the event world on his own. This kind of thing, he figured, ought to be a group decision—let everyone weigh in together.
