Chapter 41 - Chapter 38

A mountain peak where you can see the most beautiful view of the sea, like a magical world.

A blue sky with a clear half-moon in the middle of the day.

A warm breeze that carries the sound of whispering trees.

A small kid stands at the peak with his eyes closed, and the wind touches him as if it is swallowing his sorrow.

"Nong Artit, why are you standing there?"

"It's dangerous, please come back khrab..."

Nut's hands were shivering. He was completely frozen, his legs cold as if he were seeing something he couldn't stop.

"Phi Nut..." Little Artit turned around to look at Nut. "I think it's better if I die... don't you think so?"

Little Artit looked at him with a face so cold and expressionless, it was like he was someone else at that moment.

Little Artit jumped from the high peak into the sea. He jumped with his eyes closed, and a small drop of a tear fell and merged with the wind. He smiled with relief. "Finally... I can go," he said.

Suddenly Nut screamed, "No! Nong!" and ran to catch him.

"Nong Artit! Don't!" With a trembling face and tears, Nut jumped and woke up from Rak's lap. Rak was still asleep, leaning toward the couch.

Nut jumped as if he had dreamed of something he was trying hard to forget.

Nut thought to himself: "Why am I remembering the past now? Why am I back at the place where it all started?"

Nut quickly wiped his tears and tried to wake Rak, but then he hesitated. It was like Rak hadn't slept for days. Nut looked at him and whispered, "Now he looks more like a puppy..."

A drop of a tear fell from Rak's eye while he still slept. Nut spoke slowly, "Why are you crying when I am here?" Nut slowly kissed Rak's eyes, using his tongue to lick the tears away. "Don't cry, Nong..." Nut whispered, trying to wake him up.

While inside of the long hall, the ringing sound of a bell could be heard...

" Ding... tink... tring... ting-a-ling..."

The smell of the mansion changed. It was as if a dead rose had come back to life, mixed with a scent of blood strong enough to kill any normal person.

Slowly, shadow-like steps entered the master bedroom where Artit and Toffee were sleeping.

They were in each other's arms, each finding their own safe place.

" Ding... tink... tring... ting-a-ling..."

The moment he entered the room, Phraya changed his clothes into a ritual robe— one he only wears to see things with his powers.

The robe was covered in a pattern of red, dead roses. Phraya took a white fan, covered half of his face, and looked at the ceiling. He breathed in the scent of the white fan and opened his eyes.

His eyes had turned red— a color so intense that even a glimpse could turn someone to ashes.

With those red eyes, he looked at both Artit and Toffee.

Tup-tup-tup... Phraya clicked his tongue, making a sound of pity.

He covered his face with his fan and said, "Such a pity. A strong red thread links them together for eternity... but look at the color. It's slowly fading."

Phraya looked at the invisible thread that only his eyes could see. He thought to himself, "Poor souls. Who knows if they will be happy?"

Phraya smirked. "Why is it my business? If one is born, they must die. This is why I hate humans— crying and whining for everything."

He looked dissatisfied, as if he truly disliked human nature. Slowly, he walked closer to the bed and whispered to Toffee, "Oh dear... you are going to lose... everything."

Phraya laughed as he vanished without a trace.

"Rak... Rak... Rak..." Nut whispered slowly. "Nong... it's time to wake up."

Rak slowly opened his eyes as if he had been dreaming of something he didn't want to remember.

Nut asked with worry, "Why are you crying?"

He touched Rak's face and said, "What is it? Did you have a bad dream?"

Rak's voice broke. "I...I... just...I...was just remembering our past..." He struggled to speak.

Nut stopped his lips with a finger. "Then don't. Don't think about anything."

Nut was sitting on the couch; he slowly touched Rak's lips and then his face. Nut pressed his lips to Rak's.

Rak opened his mouth, and Nut opened his more. The more they swallowed, the more they couldn't stop.

Rak, who was on the couch, was now on top of Nut. Nut pressed Rak's hip against his own.

Both were panting.

Nut whispered slowly, his voice deep and soft like a wind touching Rak's ear. "Rak, it's been a long time since we... Can I?"

"Phi... but we did it... it's only been a few days," Rak said while he struggled to breathe.

Nut bit the palm of Rak's hand, making Rak almost fall from the couch. Nut stood up while carrying Rak.

"Phi... it's touching..." Rak said.

Nut smiled. "Rak, let's do it fast. The master probably needs me there soon."

Nut slowly laid Rak on his bed. Nut started to unbutton his shirt, while Rak placed his foot on Nut's chest.

"Badthum... badthum..."

Nut's heart was beating fast.

Nut forgot about the buttons; instead, he grabbed Rak's foot and licked it with his tongue. "You already showered?" Nut asked while looking down at Rak.

Rak slowly pulled his foot back and approached Nut, crawling across the bed.

He began to unbutton Nut's pants. Rak looked up at Nut and touched him there, whispering, 'It's hard, Phi...'

Before Rak could finish, Nut grabbed him and threw him back onto the bed, beginning to lick and bite his skin.

Suddenly a cold air filled the room, and a sudden chill could be felt all around.

" Ding... tink... tring... ting-a-ling..."

Nut's room suddenly filled with the smell of red roses.

"Oh... ohhh... ohhh... excuse me," Phraya said in English. He continued, "I have bad timing..."

Phraya covered his face with his white fan.

He was standing by the couch near the long window, which was open, letting the cold air drift in.

With looks of shock and surprise, Nut and Rak turned and stared at Phraya.

"You jerk!" Nut screamed and yelled. He grabbed a pillow and threw it straight at Phraya's face.

But Phraya simply moved, and the pillow flew to the other side of the room.

"Good throw... but you forgot who I am."

Rak hid behind Nut while Nut hurriedly buttoned his own shirt and fixed Rak's clothes. He looked at Phraya with pure contempt.

"Are you nuts? How dare you come into my room without my permission! Are you crazy?"

Nut looked at Phraya like he wanted to kill him for interrupting them.

But Phraya only smiled, looking like he enjoyed the interruption. "Oh my, just continue. I don't mind watching... You know, I'm a chill person."

"Rak..." Nut called out with a loud voice. He looked behind him, his tone softening as he adjusted Rak's clothes. "Rak, go back. I will come soon."

Then he looked at Phraya and added, "I will come after I sweep up this dust."

Rak nodded, but Phraya stopped him.

"Ohhh... Rak, where are your manners? It's been a long time since you saw your older brother, but you didn't even greet me. Don't tell me you forgot who I am?"

Rak clenched his clothes, keeping his head down. "Rak..." Nut called again, patting Rak's head softly. "Go... I will come. Go..."

Rak looked at Phraya's hand, where Rak's white fan was shivering. With a disappointed face, Rak walked out the door toward where Auntie Ja was.

The moment Rak was gone, Nut's face turned to horror. He grabbed the collar of Phraya's ritual robe, slammed him against the wall, and said, "Phraya, I know you never change. But don't think you can use your crappy, shitty personality here!"

Nut was more furious as he faced his old enemy. Nut grabbed the phraya and pressed him against the wall, while Phraya slowly grabbed the Nut's hand that was pressed against his neck and licked it.

"You jerk... Don't you think you can touch me. You think you can use me again?" Nut snarled, his face twisted with anger.

"Cool down, my Nut..." Phraya said.

"Don't call my name! Never call me that as if I gave you permission!" Nut turned away, his voice trembling with rage.

Suddenly, Phraya grabbed Nut from behind and pressed him hard against the wall.

Nut struggled to get free, but Phraya was too strong. "You know your smell and your soul will only be mine... Don't forget, I am the one who tasted you first. And you are the only one who can give me what I want," Phraya said, his voice cold and certain.

"So you want a struggle? Okay." Nut used all his force to turn and kicked Phraya hard between his legs.

Phraya looked surprised, clutching himself. "Oh baby... If you do that, it won't be tasty anymore ," he said with a playful smile, licking his own lips.

Nut's expression changed. "When are you going to change? Always using and playing with emotions..."

"Oh, Nut... can't you just forget? Let's get back together. Isn't it better than being with my half-baked brother?"

"Phraya... at least keep some respect.

Nut pointed his finger and said with a disgusted face...

" You don't deserve it. You don't deserve my love. It was my fault for loving someone like you. I'm telling you, you will never find anyone if you keep going like this."

Nut turned toward the door. Before he left, he said one last thing: "Now, I pity you. But it is just pity. Everything you did to me..." Nut stopped, unable to finish his sentence.

Nut's eyes were already red, but he continued," I have Rak to help me heal. But don't think you will ever find someone. And don't ever come near me or Rak again." With a face full of sadness and disgust, he headed outside. "And get off from my bed. I don't like outsiders lying on it."

Phraya lay back exactly where Nut had been. "What a mess... I can smell Rak. Do you think you can run from me, Nut? You are the first human who gave me something no one else could."

He got up from the bed with a smirk. "... But does it matter? If I am a cheater or a liar, in the end, you will be mine."

" Well, it's not my story yet.....

But who knows? In the future, someone might tell my story. Maybe I will be the main lead."

He smirked and stood by the window.

"Mmm... I can smell it. A tasty, vengeful soul. Good."

He smiled and threw himself out of the window. As he fell, his robe and fan turned into black roses, vanishing without a trace as if they had never existed.
