Ulric stood alone.
The once bright blue sky was grey.
The grass beneath his feet started to decay and wither away, slowly spreading across the field.
Something crashed down beside him, falling from the sky.
It was a crow.
It layed there, motionless.
More and more crows began to fall from the sky.
Ulric looked up. The trees were changing, their beautiful green leaves falling off their branches.
Behind him, he heard a muffled scream.
Ulric hadn't noticed until now, but he couldn't hear clearly, nor speak.
Looking back at the muffled scream, was a mother holding her child's lifeless body in her arms.
Even without being able to hear clearly, Ulric could still faintly hear the mothers muffled screams escaping from her lips.
Her screams suddenly stopped.
Her body dropped to the floor as black veins and cracks spread throughout her whole body.
Ending her life in seconds.
Looking further behind them, more people started to drop, black veins and cracks throughout their whole body.
The buildings around them started to collapse, as most of it fell due to decay.
The landscape around them started to deform.
Cracks spreading through the earth, mountains collapsing in the distance.
Behind him, a large amount of green glow started to emerge from underneath the ground. At first, it seemed about a hundred. A hundred turned to thousands.
And a thousand quickly turned into a Hundred Thousand.
An army.
Magical beast, Humans, Elves, Demons, and more.
All with their body decayed, green veins spread throughout their body, with their eyes glowing green.
An army of the dead.
Ulric didn't need a rocket scientist to figure out who was responsible for all of this.
Looking down at his feet, a perfect circular puddle of water appeared out of thin air.
Staring into the puddle, Ulric could clearly see it.
A slightly curved horn came out of the left side of its forehead.
Dark green veins could be seen across its whole body.
The Right side of its skull was exposed, with dark green glowing eyes.
Ulric realized in an instant.
"It's me."
*Gasp
Ulric gasped for air, as freezing cold water made contact with his face.
"Oh...You're finally awake."
Standing above him, a short, long eared girl with silver hair.
A- An elf?...What the hell was that vision I just had?
"Himmel, he's finally awake," the elf girl said.
"Thank you, Frieren."
Did he just say Frieren? The elf Frieren? The protagonist of this world Frieren? That Frieren?
A man with blue hair approached him.
"Sorry for having Frieren dump water on you," he said, crouching beside him. " We were going to leave you on the side of the street."
"But, Heiter started yelling that he didn't want to leave his new friend. So we brought you along with us until you woke up."
Ulric, adjusting his glasses, could properly see.
The future Hero Party, who would defeat the Demon King in a couple of years.
Himmel the hero, and Frieren the mage, a bit behind them he saw Eisen the dwarve Warrior holding a drunk Heiter the priest across his shoulder like a sack of potatoes.
"ummm...Thank you...for not leaving me on the side of the road."
Looking at Himmel upclose, Ulric had no idea how this guy could go from being average height to being even shorter than the dwarves as an old man.
Time really is the thing you can't outrun.
"You're welcome, my name is Himmel."
"Oh...My name is Ulric-"
He immediately threw up all over Himmel's boots.
All the alcohol from earlier today caught up to him.
Surprisingly, he didn't feel the slightest bit of being hungover.
Unknown to everyone else, Frieren was staring directly at the throwing up Ulric.
There was something strange about this human.
She could sense his mana. It was strange, she could mainly feel his mana near his hands, but not throughout his body.
It felt different, strange, almost as if his mana was clogged at his wrist.
"Um, Ulric, was it? Now that you're awake, we will be taking our leave." Himmel said, boots drenched in vomit.
"Oh yeah, um...sorry- sorry about...the boots."
"It's fine, have a wonderful rest of your night."
Himmel and Eisen walked as both Himmel and Eisen gave a respectful nod.
Heiter, being carried by Eisen shouted, "Ulric! Let's get one more drink!"
"Your mana feels clogged near your wrist. Mana is supposed to flow naturally." Frieren said, walking by him.
It was more of an observation than anything.
But those words lit up a lightbulb in Ulrics head.
Flow Naturally.
The last time he did the Verfallzauber Arrow, he flowed his Lich powers to his fingertips.
He never even assumed to try and have his Lich powers flow through his body.
A certain main character from another anime came to his mind.
Someone with almost the same problem, and the same solution.
Izuku Midoriya.
He couldn't control the strength in his arms, every time he used his powers, it would break his arms.
It wasn't until much later that he flowed All for One throughout his whole body.
Now he was going to do the same thing, but not tonight.
Tonight he is going to get some good night sleep.
Right here where he lay, next to the puddle of vomit.
He closed his eyes.
.....
