Chapter 10 - A Very Dangerous Woman

The night air in Mystic Falls felt unusually quiet.

Alexander Nightshade stood alone outside the old Salvatore boarding house, his hands resting casually in his pockets as the cool wind brushed past him. His golden eyes glowed faintly in the darkness, though anyone passing by would simply see a calm, handsome young man enjoying the night.

But Alexander wasn't enjoying anything.

He was thinking.

For someone like him — a Tribrid with power far beyond vampires, werewolves, or witches — the world moved slowly. People's intentions, emotions, even their hidden fears were as clear to him as daylight.

And right now…

Someone dangerous was approaching.

Alexander smiled slightly.

"Interesting."

Footsteps echoed behind him.

Soft.

Graceful.

Confident.

A woman's voice soon followed.

"Well, well… standing alone at night in Mystic Falls?" the voice purred. "That's either very brave… or very stupid."

Alexander slowly turned around.

Standing a few meters away was a woman with long dark hair, flawless beauty, and eyes filled with dangerous intelligence.

Anyone in Mystic Falls who knew supernatural history would recognize her instantly.

Katherine Pierce.

Or rather…

Katerina Petrova.

The infamous vampire who had manipulated brothers, destroyed lives, and survived for over five hundred years.

She crossed her arms and examined Alexander carefully.

Her sharp eyes scanned him from head to toe.

"You're new," Katherine said casually. "And yet… you don't smell human."

Alexander tilted his head slightly.

"That's a bold opening line."

Katherine smirked.

"Oh please. Mystic Falls is a supernatural playground. Humans don't stand this calmly in the dark."

She slowly walked closer.

Each step deliberate.

Predatory.

But Alexander didn't move.

He simply watched her approach as if she were just another curious stranger.

Katherine stopped in front of him.

Close enough to hear his heartbeat.

Except…

She couldn't.

Her brows furrowed slightly.

"That's odd."

Vampires could hear heartbeats from several meters away.

Yet Alexander's chest was completely silent.

No heartbeat.

No supernatural scent.

Nothing.

And that made Katherine very uncomfortable.

"Who are you?" she asked softly.

Alexander smiled faintly.

"Alexander."

"Alexander… what?"

"Just Alexander."

Katherine narrowed her eyes.

She hated vague answers.

But something about this man made her instincts scream caution.

And Katherine Pierce trusted her survival instincts more than anything.

"So," she said slowly, circling him like a hunter studying prey, "Alexander… what exactly are you?"

Alexander chuckled quietly.

"What do you think I am?"

Katherine stopped walking.

Her gaze sharpened.

"I've met witches, werewolves, vampires, hybrids…" she said calmly.

Her eyes locked onto his glowing golden ones.

"But you…"

She leaned closer.

"You're something else."

Alexander looked amused.

"You sound curious."

"I am curious."

Katherine's smile returned — playful, seductive, and dangerous.

"And curiosity usually keeps life interesting."

Alexander met her gaze.

"And sometimes it gets people killed."

For a brief moment…

Neither of them spoke.

The tension between them felt thick.

Katherine suddenly laughed.

"Oh I like you," she said.

That was rare.

Katherine didn't like people easily.

But Alexander was different.

He wasn't afraid.

He wasn't trying to impress her.

And most importantly…

She couldn't read him.

"Tell me something," Katherine said casually.

"What?"

"Are you dangerous?"

Alexander thought about it for a moment.

Then he answered honestly.

"Yes."

Katherine's smile widened.

"Good."

Her eyes gleamed with excitement.

Because Katherine Pierce loved only three things in life:

Survival.

Power.

And interesting men.

Alexander Nightshade seemed to be all three.

"So," she said playfully, stepping closer again.

"How about we get to know each other better?"

Alexander raised an eyebrow.

"Is that how you usually greet strangers?"

Katherine smirked.

"Only the ones who might be useful."

Alexander laughed.

"You're very honest."

"Why lie when the truth is more fun?"

Alexander looked at her quietly for a moment.

Then he said something that made Katherine freeze.

"You've been running for five hundred years."

Silence.

Katherine's smile disappeared instantly.

Her eyes turned cold.

Dangerous.

"Careful," she said softly.

Alexander continued calmly.

"From Niklaus Mikaelson."

The moment that name left his mouth…

Katherine's expression darkened.

Only a few people in the world even knew that story.

And this stranger just said it casually.

"Who told you that?" she asked quietly.

Alexander shrugged.

"I know many things."

Katherine studied him carefully again.

For the first time in centuries…

She felt uncertain.

And Katherine Pierce hated feeling uncertain.

But strangely…

She was also intrigued.

Very intrigued.

After a long pause, Katherine suddenly smiled again.

"You're full of secrets, Alexander."

"And you're full of trouble."

She laughed softly.

"That's true."

Then she leaned close to his ear and whispered:

"I think I'm going to enjoy you."

With that, she stepped back and began walking away.

But before disappearing into the darkness, she looked back one last time.

Her eyes glowed faintly in the moonlight.

"See you around, Alexander."

Alexander watched her leave.

His golden eyes shimmered with quiet amusement.

"A very dangerous woman indeed."

But what Katherine didn't know…

Was that Alexander Nightshade was far more dangerous than anyone in Mystic Falls.

Even Niklaus Mikaelson.

And soon…

Everyone would learn that truth.
