Chapter 19 - Breath in water

After wandering around East Borough for a while to shake off his disguise, Klein Moretti returned to Minsk Street before midnight.

After entering his room, he closed the door, drew the curtains, and slowly sat down in a chair. After a moment, he lifted his consciousness and entered the world above the gray fog.

Once there, he used a spirit dowsing method to verify the authenticity of the three formulas.

After finishing the verification, he looked at the mottled long table in front of him and tried to recreate the illusory world.

At that moment—he suddenly raised his hand and struck his forehead hard.

"I almost forgot!"

A flash of realization appeared in his eyes.

"I brought the All-Black Eye back to the real world…"

After some effort, he finally summoned "The World" into the grand palace and transformed the surroundings into something resembling an ordinary room.

Then, making "The World" stand devoutly, he spoke in a hoarse and deep voice:

"O Fool who does not belong to this era…"

After a brief pause, he continued,

"Please inform Miss Magician that I have already obtained the Trickmaster potion formula."

"I hope she can exchange it for materials from the Sun domain that are effective in purification and exorcism."

"If the value is not equal, I am willing to make up the difference with additional gold pounds."

After finishing the message, Klein controlled "The World," turning the entire scene into a sphere of light and sending it toward the crimson star representing the Magician.

After everything was done, he stood there silently for a moment.

A thought suddenly surfaced in his mind—last time when Miss Xio had found someone for purification and exorcism… Miss Magician had also been present!

---

Fors Wall flipped through the calendar on her desk.

After thinking for a moment, she picked up a pen and marked the date of the upcoming full moon.

She had already made up her mind—once she heard that terrifying, illusory whisper again, she would chant the Fool's name and spend those painful minutes above the gray fog.

"Life really… is full of things worth looking forward to…"

she whispered with a sigh.

Then she closed the novel in her hand and reached out to turn off the gas lamp mounted on the wall.

At that very moment—a sudden flash appeared before her eyes!

Endless gray fog… a vast ancient palace… and within it, a majestic figure… and before it stood a person, praying devoutly.

In the next instant, the voice echoed in her ears.

Fors was startled at first—but the next moment, her eyes lit up with joy!

"The Trickmaster formula…?"

She could hardly believe it.

"I've searched for this for so many years… with so much effort…!"

Thoughts flooded her mind one after another—

Even after attending various Beyonder gatherings, she had never obtained the formula… and now—like this… suddenly?

"And it hasn't even been a week since I made the request…"

Her breathing grew heavier.

"This is… the Tarot Club… just as I thought… it's nothing like ordinary Beyonder gatherings…"

Fors composed herself. Suppressing her excitement and joy, she carefully asked,

"Mr. Fool… is that formula genuine?"

The mysterious figure seated on the high-backed chair replied calmly,

"Yes."

Fors clenched her fist and secretly pumped it twice near her waist—

a small attempt to hide her excitement.

Without much hesitation, she asked,

"That was… Mr. World, right?"

Then she quickly added,

"Please inform him… I will find what he needs as soon as possible."

As soon as she finished speaking—the gray fog dissipated.

Everything returned to normal.

---

Miao Miao lay on the bed, but sleep wouldn't come. The silence of the room only made her thoughts louder.

After tossing and turning for a while, she slowly opened her eyes.

"I need some silk fabric to make a gown…" she thought.

"I have to go to North Borough tomorrow."

She couldn't stay lying down any longer.

Miao Miao got up and began pacing slowly around the room.

"Hah…" she sighed.

"If this body isn't human… then what is it?"

She looked at her hands, moving her fingers—everything felt normal.

"I've been in this body for several days… but there's nothing unusual."

For a moment, a shadow of memory passed through her eyes.

"Besides… in the original novel, the original owner of this body was brutally killed by that devil dog…"

The air in the room seemed to grow colder.

She stopped and lowered her head slightly.

"And…" she continued thinking,

"the system is giving me so many advantages after drinking the Beyonder potion…"

Her brows furrowed.

"No… I didn't drink it of my own will…"

After a pause, she clenched her teeth.

"I was forced to drink it because of the system."

A trace of irritation appeared in her eyes.

---

After pacing for a while, Miao Miao stopped.

Her gaze slowly shifted to a corner of the room—where neatly folded fabrics and sewing tools were placed.

She walked over, picked up the fabrics.

White and pale yellow cloth… soft, smooth, and delicate.

After a while—she began working again.

The silent movement of needle and thread blended with the quiet of the room. Time passed, but she didn't notice.

Gradually—a gown began to take shape.

After pulling the final stitch and tying the knot, Miao Miao stopped.

She held up the gown with both hands and examined it carefully.

She had already finished the white and yellow gown.

The design was elegant and regal, decorated with many beads. The soft yellow accents over white resembled the first light of dawn.

---

In the morning, Miao Miao took a public carriage to North Borough.

Rows of shops lined both sides of the street, crowds moved about, and under the gas lamps lingered the old atmosphere of the city—everything caught her eye.

After spending some time, she bought a lot of expensive silk and fine fabrics for making gowns.

Carrying her packages, she walked slowly.

As she walked, she passed by a massive church.

Saint Samuel Cathedral.

The moment she saw the name—something suddenly flashed in her mind.

"Saint…" she stopped.

Then another name surfaced—Saint School of Art.

"Is there… an art school here?" she murmured to herself.

For a moment, a shadow of the distant past fell over her eyes.

"My… fifth transmigration…"

She stopped walking.

She remembered—she had been a four-year-old girl in the 1880s, born in London… She had the chance to study at that art school—Saint School of Art.

Gradually, she became one of the best painters in her class.

Even though it was a novel world—she wasn't a main character, nor an important supporting character.

Just… an ordinary person.

Yet her life had been peaceful, normal… good.

Her lips trembled slightly.

"But… I… died after falling from the stairs…"

"Everything was bad… in every one of my transmigrations, I died halfway through my life in some

---

Miao Miao stood at the edge of the bridge, waiting for public transit. She had already placed the fabrics she had bought into the space ring, so her hands were empty.

A gentle breeze blew. Below, the Tusk River flowed relentlessly.

It was then that her eyes fell on a young girl standing right at the edge of the bridge.

Brown hair… a still, focused gaze… the girl was looking down at the river below.

At first, Miao Miao thought—perhaps she was just watching the water.

But… something felt off.

The people around walked by normally, paying no attention. And then—

The girl took a step forward.

Then—jump!

She leapt straight into the river. Miao Miao's eyes widened in shock.

"What—!"

For a moment, her mind went blank. She had no idea what to do.

Below, the current was fierce, the water deep… but—she didn't hesitate for even a second.

"I have to save her!"

Miao Miao ran to the edge of the bridge—and without any hesitation—she jumped into the river as well.

The people around froze. Some screamed. All eyes were on the river below.

The shock of the cold water made Miao Miao's entire body shiver.

In an instant, the surroundings were engnged with a greenish-blue hue. The light from above fractured as it penetrated the water—blurry, swaying, like shards of a broken mirror.

The current was fierce. Miao Miao felt the water pulling her downward. Her hair floated, and her clothes billowed.

But then—she suddenly sensed something unusual.

She… could breathe underwater.

For a moment, her eyes widened in astonishment. There was no suffocating feeling… no panic…

As if this environment were completely natural to her.

"This… could it be the effect of the potion? No, there's no way it could be just that," the thought flashed in her mind.

But there was no time to ponder. She quickly composed herself and kept her eyes open.

Everything underwater was murky… yet a little further down, a girl with brown hair was slowly sinking.

Her arms flailed helplessly, unable to fight the current. Her eyes were half-closed, and tiny bubbles escaped from her mouth.

Miao Miao kicked forcefully and began swimming toward her. The current pushed her sideways, but she held her course.

"Almost there…" she reached out—

But the girl sank even further.

Clenching her teeth, Miao Miao swam harder, stretching her hand forward.

This time—her fingers brushed the girl's clothing. She didn't let go of the opportunity.

Quickly, she grabbed the girl's hand. Her body felt heavy, completely limp.

Miao Miao pulled her toward herself, holding her with one arm.

Looking upward, she saw—far above—the glimmer of light.

But the current still tugged them downward.

Miao Miao kicked with all her strength, propelling them upward.

Around them, there was only water… pressure… but her breathing remained normal. The girl's body lay limp against her.

"No… not yet…" she thought to herself.

Miao Miao broke the surface. The girl's eyes were closed; she wasn't breathing. Miao Miao approached her, lifting her onto the ferry, pressing down on her chest to expel water. A woman handed her a dry cloth, but still, the girl wasn't breathing.

Miao Miao took a deep breath and began giving the girl mouth-to-mouth.

"Oh! What is she doing?!" a woman shouted, eyes wide.

Someone else nearby covered their mouth, whispering,

"Is this… really okay? Doing this in public?"

Everyone froze in shock. Miao Miao didn't respond. Her steady gaze remained fixed on the girl, and she took another deep breath, continuing to provide rescue breaths.

Some felt a slight embarrassment; others were startled. They had never seen such a thing done in public. Yet no one dared intervene, for the girl's life hung in the balance.

Slowly, the girl's chest began to rise and fall. A woman gasped, "Look… she's breathing!"

(Please let me know how it goes.)
