"Let my husband go, or I'll shoot him."
Carmella's voice echoed through the area, only to be met with silence.
"NOW!" she screamed.
"Please, please…" Raka whimpered, his hands raised and his eyes darting between Lucian and Ashley. "Just do what she says. She's going to kill me!"
But Lucian and Ashley didn't move. They merely stared at Carmella, while everyone else kept their guns raised.
"Carmella…" Marshal nearly cried at the sight of his wife coming to his rescue.
It was certainly unexpected, but perhaps he would survive tonight after all.
Before tears could well up in his eyes, however, his gaze shifted toward Ashley's hand—to the pistol she was holding. He looked up at her face and noticed that she was slightly distracted.
Meanwhile, Lucian glanced at his wife before shifting his attention to Raka.
"Lower your weapons," he finally ordered.
No one obeyed. Instead, they tightened their grips on their rifles.
"Now," he repeated, shooting them a sidelong glance.
