Chapter 12 - Shadow and Skeleton

Sunny replied casually,

"Oh wow. You must be pretty effective at defeating your enemies. You know I've once heard that you slew an avatar of a god!"

The skeleton quietly chuckled

"Yes, but to be fairly honest, that isn't a story I'm interested in telling. The past should remain the past, Shadow."

Sunny was disappointed. He wondered if such a blade could be found again.

The skeleton continued

"Oh, Shadow, as the Shadow Gods Divine shadow, I ask you only to do what's in your nature. Please offer me the same solace that every being receives at the end of their life."

Sunny looked at him.

"Well, I wouldn't mind, but it seems like the Shadow God wanted you alive. How could I, a divine shadow, go against his will?" Sunny said while shaking his head sadly.

Eurys quickly rebutted, "Oh my Shadow, don't reach a conclusion too quickly. Shadow Gods curse is a terrible one, but it isn't one that was meant to last forever."

Feigning curiosity, Sunny spoke, "What could you possibly mean?"

"Oh, Shadow, save the theatrics. You are a Supreme Shadow. The composition of your soul tells me something, Shadow. You are a being that laid claim to the world, how could possibly listen to another's will?" Eury's said.

"Well, I suppose I could help you out, however, it wouldn't be free of cost, and you'd be paying in advance," Sunny said.

"How is that hardly any fair, Shadow?" the skeleton replied.

"Stop being coy, you know better than anyone else that this curse is incredibly potent. I would need to know exactly how to destroy this, and sadly, I'm not at that stage yet." Sunny said.

It was true. In the future, Sunny would come to figure out one of the reasons why the gap between Supreme and Sacred was so vast.

It was because, unlike other ranks, the Supreme rank might be one of the only ranks that could be subcategorized into four ranks in itself. The level of strength between someone who was a Supreme for a thousand years would make a new Supreme appear a lower rank.

There were many factors for this, and one of them was Will.

As Sunny had found out, Will could be used in many ways, and there were an infinite number of Wills. Making a battle have a near infinite number of outcomes.

Sunny realized that the first subcategory was called the 'Self Will' Stage. When one Supreme naturally finds out how to manifest their Will into the real world, unless they Supreme through the Nightmare Spell.

The first stage, the 'Self Will,' was exactly what it meant. It was to use your Will expertly as an extension of yourself. Sunny understood this perfectly. However, the fatal mistake Sunny made in this first stage was not realizing how deep it went.

To truly master the 'Self Will' stage you need to be able to cover your entire body with a protective layer of Will and still be able to fight using another 'Will'.

'Self Will' was the stage designated to control two types of Will in battle. Which Sunny had figured out easily. Having seven bodies, Sunny had always practiced using multiple bodies in battle. He was already proficient in 'Self Will' because of his vast consciousness and his battle art.

It was the second stage that was giving him problems.

The 'Willcon' stage was one where is his Will evolved into a Semi-Concept. It was alluding to Sunny, and it was perhaps the most difficult stage as of yet.

Theorizing this stage was most likely the sixth step of shadow dance as well. If he still could use Shadow Dance, Sunny imagined he would eventually get to understand it easily, but in a way, he was crippled.

To turn his 'Will' into a 'Semi-Concept', it needed to change from a fundamental stage. It needed to change from a force of worldly figures to a force of the universe. Intuitively, Sunny had figured this out.

"Say, how do you change 'Will' into a 'Concept' Eury's. If you tell me, I might be able to help you die." Sunny said.

"Hmm, a good question. It seems I was right to assume you were a new Supreme." Eurys said.

"What do you mean? How would you possibly know that I just achieved Supremacy?" Sunny asked.

"Well, it's simple really. Your Will is flimsy and doesn't exist unless you're concentrating." Eurys continued.

"Shadow, it's simple if you think about it. What's the underlying difference between a 'Will' and a 'Concept'? One exists sometimes while the other always exists." Eurys finished.

"What is that supposed to mean? How am I supposed to create something that always exists? You can also stop calling me Shadow. My name is Sunless." Sunny said.

"It's straightforward, Lord Sunless. The first step is that you must summon your 'Will' and never release it." The skeleton seemed like it was smirking for some odd reason.

"That's all? If that were the case, then wouldn't everyone have a 'Concept'?" Sunny asked.

"No, no, no. Only by using this 'Will' continuously and sharpening it against other Wills can it truly be breathed into life. You must continuously prove its existence, only then will it change and truly become yours." Eurys finished.

It was logical. Using Will Sunny could affect concepts already like time or space. It could only happen because nobody owned that specific concept or was strong enough to deny Sunny's usage.

Sunny didn't doubt that Sacred would be able to utterly bully him when it came to not only the usage of Wills but Concepts as well.

"Be careful, Sunless. If that concept already exists, it'll be much harder to draw forth. Typically, the easiest 'Concepts' to birth are ones created out of thin air or innately tied to your aspect."

Eurys gave Sunny one last pointer, and Sunny was thinking about it deeply. He had called Sunny's Will flimsy, and that hurt, but in a way, it was true. If 'Will' was something that only got stronger over time, then unsummoning it and resummoning it could be a massive downside.

Sunny had thought that there were so many unkillable beings out there that needed to be cut down with a Concept rather than a Will, but that could have been a misconception. His 'Will' was always at the weakest point. It was only his status as a 'Titan' that made up for it.

Summoning the [Weaver Mask] Sunny prepared to leave the Shadow Realm. In the distance, far beyond, he got a chilling sense.

"It seems like they want to throw you a welcoming party, I mean, it's not every day a genuine Divine Shadow comes." Eurys said.

"I think I'll skip out on this one, Eurys. Maybe next time I come, I'll bring your good friend Azrax!" Sunny said.

"Wait Wai.." Sunny stepped through the [Shadow Lantern]. He was currently in a great mood. Until he saw the aftermath of the skirmish that occurred in Godgrave. Which, surprisingly, was nothing.

It seems like the jungle wasn't fond of leaving scraps.

"Well, next stop Ravenheart."
