Meanwhile, Princess Elowen learned the news in an entirely different atmosphere.
She had just returned to her chambers and was halfway through changing into something more comfortable when one of her maids hurried in, clearly eager to deliver the latest palace gossip.
The maid bowed quickly before speaking. "Your Highness, there is news."
Elowen glanced at her through the mirror. "What is it?" she asked, with a hint of disinterest.
The maid hesitated only briefly before saying, "His Royal Highness plans to leave the palace in a few days."
Instantly, Elowen froze. And in that moment, she genuinely thought she had heard wrong, so she turned sharply.
"What?"
The maid immediately repeated herself. "The Alpha Prince is leaving the royal palace."
Elowen stared at her in disbelief. The news was so unexpected that she struggled to process it.
Alexander, leaving the palace?
Her brother?
The same brother who had spent most of his life within these walls?
