Chapter 18 - “The Last Supper”

Across the vast universe advanced an enormous fleet of warships exceeding one hundred light-years in length. Merely moving through space, the [Megastar-class] vessels distorted the fabric of the cosmos itself. Constructed from the combined technologies of hundreds of millions, trillions of multidimensional universes, this colossal fleet—numbering five hundred billion battleships—continued its march while disrupting every law of the universe: stellar systems, galaxies, galactic clusters, superclusters, the orderly arrangement of the Great Walls, even the bubble-like structure of the cosmos.

Commanding this fleet beyond human comprehension was Emperor Achilles. The young man, bearing the name of a legendary hero, stood upon the immense bridge with his arms folded, gazing into outer space.

Countless planets stretched before his eyes, yet merely by the fleet's movement, surrounding gravity warped and the very principles of the universe were destroyed.

"Your Majesty, preparations for your meal are complete."

His personal secretary appeared behind him. A teleportation device stood nearby.

The Emperor nodded silently, his crimson cloak flowing behind him as he stepped onto the transporter.

The next moment, he appeared within a gigantic hall.

Inside the immense chamber covered in steel walls, commanders from each fleet had gathered.

When the Emperor seated himself upon a floating black throne suspended in the air, the standing commanders also took their seats.

The Emperor lifted a golden goblet and stared at the crimson alcohol within.

Then he glanced over the commanders.

"The final battle is near. I trust in the strength of every one of you."

As he raised his goblet, all the commanders raised theirs simultaneously, and the banquet began.

The commanders laughed and conversed among themselves while dining.

Yet the Emperor himself did not touch his food. Instead, he silently watched the gathered commanders for some time.

"Your Majesty, does the meal not suit your tastes?"

His secretary's voice echoed beside his ear. She had swiftly approached his side.

"Hm? No, that is not it. I was merely realizing that this war, which began with my mother's death, has finally come this far. Many subordinates have been lost. Many companions have departed. And now we possess power capable of destroying space itself. Soon… very soon… we will finally strike back against the gods."

Indeed, this fleet was preparing to leave the universe itself in order to wage war upon the gods.

"If it is Your Majesty, then surely you will surpass even the gods themselves. All things shall one day belong to humanity."

At her words, the Emperor gave a faint smile.

"Humans created by the gods now destroy the universe and turn their blades against their creators. I am truly a great sinner."

"What are you saying? Your Majesty is a savior who has rescued countless lives. The gods see lives as no more than fallen leaves. You fight under the banner of justice."

Hearing this, the Emperor smiled once more.

I hope that is true, he murmured inwardly at last, before finally beginning his meal.
