Keifer's POV
The hallway slowly started to quiet down after Jay walked away.
For a moment… no one spoke.
Matilda was still coughing slightly while Freya stood beside her, looking furious. The floor was wet from the spilled water and the crushed bottle.
I exhaled slowly.
Then I looked straight at them.
My voice came out cold.
"You two are suspended for a week."
Matilda's head snapped up immediately.
"What?!"
Freya blinked in disbelief.
"You can't do that."
Matilda stepped forward angrily.
"You have no right!"
Before I could respond, Matteo spoke calmly.
"Keif… why don't you calm down first."
I turned to him sharply.
"Calm down?"
Yuri rubbed the back of his neck.
"Yeah, Keifer… I mean there are different punishments."
Felix nodded.
"Maybe detention or something."
I stared at all of them.
"…Are you guys okay?"
They looked confused.
"They just bullied someone."
My voice grew sharper.
"In front of the entire school."
Aries finally spoke, his expression serious.
"What were the two of you thinking?"
He looked at Freya and Matilda.
"Even if you wanted to get back at her, this is not the way."
Freya crossed her arms.
"She started it."
Aries shook his head.
"Keep this in mind."
His voice became firm.
"When you two return from your suspension… you will apologise to Jay for what you did."
Matilda looked completely outraged.
"Apologise?!"
She pointed at herself.
"I was the one who almost got strangled to death!"
Her voice rose.
"And you're punishing me but not her?!"
I stepped closer.
My eyes narrowed.
"Are you the one to tell me how I should do things?"
Matilda froze slightly.
Freya quickly spoke up.
"But you can't give us any punishment."
She lifted her chin confidently.
"Only the headmaster can."
I stared at her for a moment.
Then I said quietly,
"Really?"
My voice dropped.
"You think I can't?"
Freya hesitated.
Aries sighed and turned to the crowd of students that were still watching everything.
"Alright, show's over."
His voice echoed through the hallway.
"All of you leave."
He gestured toward the classrooms.
"Don't you have class?"
The students quickly started moving.
Whispers spread through the hallway as everyone walked away.
Within a minute the crowd disappeared.
Only our group remained.
Matilda glared at me one last time before turning away.
Freya followed her.
Matteo sighed and ran a hand through his hair before walking after them.
Soon the hallway became quiet again.
We walked back to class together.
No one spoke for a while.
Then Felix suddenly broke the silence.
"…Wow."
David glanced at him.
"What?"
Felix looked around at us.
"I have never seen Jay that angry before."
Ci-N nodded slowly.
"Same."
Yuri frowned thoughtfully.
"She looked different today."
Felix shivered slightly.
"Not just angry."
He made a small gesture with his hands.
"…Dangerous."
David agreed.
"When she grabbed Matilda's neck…"
He shook his head.
"That wasn't normal anger."
Ci-N looked at me.
"Aries… he know more about Jay than us, right?"
Felix nodded quickly.
"Yeah!"
He leaned forward.
"Should we ask Aries more about her?"
He glanced around.
"Because whatever that was today… jay looked like she could actually kill someone."
I immediately spoke.
"No way."
Everyone looked at me.
"I'm not asking Aries anything."
Yuri raised an eyebrow.
"But he's clearly hiding something."
The silence stretched.
Then I turned to the back of the room.
"Rory."
Rory looked up.
"Yeah?"
"Endrix."
Endrix straightened slightly.
I leaned back in my chair.
"Find more information about Jay."
Both of them blinked.
"By tomorrow."
They exchanged a look.
Then both nodded.
"Got it."
"Okay."
Just then the classroom door opened.
Madam Cindy walked in with her usual calm expression.
"Good afternoon, class."
We all sat properly.
She placed her books on the desk and looked around the room.
Then her eyes paused on Jay's empty seat.
"Where is Jay today?"
The class went quiet.
Ci-N quickly raised his hand.
"She's not feeling well, Madam."
Madam Cindy looked concerned.
"She left early."
Ci-N added casually,
"Her mom came to pick her up."
Madam Cindy nodded gently.
"I see."
She wrote something in her notebook.
"Tell her to rest well."
Then she turned toward the board.
"Alright class, open your books to page 78."
The sound of pages turning filled the room.
But my mind wasn't on the lesson.
Not even close.
All I could think about…
Was the way Jay looked when she grabbed Matilda's neck.
Cold.
Controlled.
Dangerous.
And one question kept repeating in my head.
Who exactly is Jay?
