Chapter 29 - Voidborn- Chapter 29: Arrival in the Umbrilion Expanse

There was no sensation of movement when the teleportation gate activated only a crushing pull, a twisting pressure, and then a soundless detonation of light that folded the Milky Way out of existence. The students felt their bodies stretch into threads of starlight before snapping back into form. When the brilliance cleared, they found themselves standing atop a colossal floating platform made from black-crystal metal, its surface rippling like liquid glass, reflecting a sky that should not exist. Every inch of the platform seemed alive, resonating faint pulses of energy that hinted at laws older than any student could comprehend.

Before them stretched a sky of inverted constellations, glowing rivers of energy drifting like living serpents across the heavens. Each river of energy twisted, coiling, and sometimes splitting into fractal patterns, as if testing the eyes of those who dared to look too long. The air carried a weight that pressed on the lungs without suffocating a taste older than dust, older than memory, saturated with a law-energy that wrapped around their skin like searching tendrils of sentience.

This was not the Milky Way.

This was the universe the First King built.

A lone figure floated down from the upper atmosphere as if gravity meant nothing to him. His skin shimmered like silver obsidian, faint tribal lines etched across it glowing softly in teal. His quadrilateral-golden pupils split the light like shattered stars. Each braid of his tightly bound hair was threaded with metallic rings inscribed with runes that moved subtly, like they were alive.

He carried no weapon he didn't need one. Every movement radiated authority and quiet force.

"Welcome to the Umbrilion Expanse," he said, voice deep, calm, resonant like a stone struck in the void. "I am Vaelion Zareth, Messenger of the Starfall Covenant, Commander of the Astra-Helion Vanguard."

He bowed slightly not in subservience, but as a formal acknowledgment of the caliber of those before him. Every student here qualified for the Expanse, every one already beyond what most soldiers could dream of achieving.

Behind him, reality bent. The void rippled, and a colossal shadow unfolded into the warship known as the Astra-Helion Vanguard. Its hull stretched nearly thirty kilometers long, layered in plates of Star-Eclipse Alloy that shimmered with faint auroras. Wings of pure photon energy unfolded from the sides, trailing rivers of glimmering particles that coiled like smoke. The central reactor glowed like a miniature sun trapped in a lattice of golden runes, pulsing as if it had its own heartbeat.

The ship hummed with quiet, intelligent power as it settled before them.

Only then did Vaelion speak again.

"Enter. We journey to the Covenant's sovereign territory he Astral Dominion of Helionfall."

A massive gate descended, and the students stepped inside.

The moment they boarded, the ship awakened. Energy rivers along the walls pulsed in rhythm with the hearts of everyone onboard. Seats reshaped to accommodate their bodies, panels scanned and adapted to their aura signatures, and the air hummed faintly with the resonance of the Expanse itself.

Michael Adarkwah, Arata Kurogane, and Kyra Luminis the Obsidian Star Legion—sat together, expressions carved in silence, each aware of the weight pressing on them. Even with their awakened sigils, even with their blood resonating with primordial law, the magnitude of this place demanded respect.

Vaelion's voice echoed throughout the vessel.

"For the first time in five centuries, the Starfall Covenant welcomes a record influx thirty thousand, nine hundred and sixty-nine students from nine hundred and ninety-nine planets of the Milky Way."

The hall fell silent.

Michael's jaw tightened. Arata's eyes widened. Kyra drew in a sharp breath. None had anticipated the Covenant's reach expanding to this scale in only five centuries.

The ship rose, a shockwave of light bursting beneath its hull. The Vanguard vanished, breaking the five-thousand-times-light-speed barrier with a silent detonation, folding space like silk. Stars streaked into lines, galaxies smeared into glowing bands of motion. For the first time, the students witnessed the universe's laws with naked eyes.

Three laws, engraved into the very fabric of reality, spiraled around the ship like divine murals:

The Law of Celestial Pressure a pale-gold shimmer that reshaped matter, bending existence to invisible weight, reminding every consciousness aboard that the Expanse obeyed rules older than light itself.

The Law of Rift Echoes a silver-crimson current rippling through the void, carrying memory distortions and time fractures that whispered in dead languages, tugging subtly at the threads of the students' pasts and futures.

The Law of Umbra Genesis a dark-blue halo coiling like smoke, generating illusion-realities and fleeting soul-reflections that flickered in peripheral vision, reminding the students that nothing here could be trusted without proof.

These three laws gifts of Vaerion Rael'khar himself pressed against their minds, forcing focus, endurance, and respect.

Outside, the Expanse expanded endlessly. Four colossal territories rotated slowly like woven realms:

The Beast Expanse floating continents, titanic mountains, oceans alive with creatures born from collapsed laws, massive silhouettes roaming beneath mists that shook even the strongest observers.

The Shadow Dominion a realm of drifting black clouds, twisted cities carved into darkness itself. Shadows moved like predators, killing or possessing those who lacked resolve. Conquer them, and you gained divine authority beyond imagination.

The Human Realms tri-layered civilizations of ancient Earth descendants, Starfall elites, and the other founding races. Cities glowed with radiant energy, crystal spires suspended over floating stone, as if the sky itself had been folded downward.

The Forge-Womb of Epochs a sentient land where weapons were born naturally. Armors grew like trees, spears crystallized from nebula storms, battle gear emerged from molten energy rivers. Every creation seemed aware of its surroundings, testing intruders with a conscious, watchful gaze.

Beyond these, three other races ruled smaller domains, each capable of shaking the balance of the Expanse.

Nebula-storms twisted into spirals the size of solar systems. Rivers of blue fire cut across the void. Massive broken continents drifted like corpses of dead worlds. Structures the size of moons floated silently, remnants of Vaerion's hand attempting to stabilize the Expanse.

For 2.5 years, the Astra-Helion Vanguard raced through this realm. Inside, time flowed normally. Outside, the Expanse's laws twisted and distorted reality. Stars shifted thousands of light-years in a blink. Planets hung in space for months at a glance.

Finally, the veils of light parted. Ahead hung the Covenant's main headquarters the Capital of Helionfall. Four fused planets formed a single massive world, rivers of teal and black energy spiraling across its surface. Rings of silver-gold metal encircled it, holding billions of structures and training arenas. Cities floated above cities; continents hovered above megaliths; energy bridges connected sky to land. At its core, the black-crystal citadel of the Starfall Covenant spire stretched high into the upper atmosphere.

Vaelion spoke:

"Welcome, students… to the heart of the Umbrilion Expanse. Your true journey begins now."

As the Vanguard slowed above the outer ring, Vaelion addressed the students in the crystal-lit hall. Three holographic sigils spun above him, representing divisions of the Starfall Galactic Ascension Tournament.

"The Ascendant Beast Division cultivators from Beast Master to Star Warrior," he said as the first sigil flared like a roaring astral beast.

"The Celestial Crown Division Planet Guardian, Planet Master, Planet King," the second sigil a glowing planetary crown emerged.

"The Eternal Apex Division Stellar Lord, Galaxy Lord, Void Monarch," the third symbol of three looping galaxies appeared.

A faint violet ripple swirled around all three, subtle yet ancient.

"And for those beyond mortality Cosmic Emperors and Universal Sovereigns you belong to the Sovereign Titan Division."

Whispers erupted. Even the Obsidian Star Legion exchanged glances. Michael squeezed Arata's hand, grounding her. She returned a faint smile.

Vaelion added quietly:

"Your tournament will be judged by unseen rulers of Helionfall The Shattered Crown, The Oathless Judge, and The Star-Eater Monk. None know their true names, none have been seen even by me."

A cold wave ran through the hall. Universal Sovereigns walked unseen.

As gates opened, students stepped onto the landing bridge. Floating stone glimmered beneath transparent walkways; rivers of teal energy flowed beneath. Michael and Arata walked side by side, fingers interlocked. Kyra followed, approving silently.

Then the arrogant boy appeared dark-skinned, muscular, eyes sharp, confidence radiating like heat. He shoved Michael aside, sliding an arm around Arata's neck.

"Back off. A beautiful girl like this shouldn't be walking with a loser," he said, smirk sharp enough to cut.

Michael's aura flared. Kyra felt the shift instantly. Arata's eyes widened.

Before a strike could happen, Vaelion intervened, appearing between them with silent grace.

"If you wish to kill each other," he said, voice gold and cold, "save it for the Celestforge Coliseum. Only there may you fight. Submit duel requests, accept, and the battle becomes official. Break this law…" His gaze pressed on the boy like a blade, "…and you'll discover why the Expanse fears the Covenant."

The boy released Arata, smirk fading to a glare, stepping back.

Michael rushed to Arata, hands finding hers instantly.

"I'm fine… because you're here," she whispered, leaning briefly against his shoulder.

Vaelion's voice cut through the moment:

"Students of the Milky Way welcome to Helionfall. Ahead lies your destiny… and your trials."

As they descended toward the Astryx Orientation Hall, the Expanse itself trembled in anticipation. The Obsidian Star Legion had arrived. The universe had begun to stir.

together.
