Chapter 14 - Chapter 14

Simon and his army reached their destination soon.It was not morning yet.Simon lifted his hand above and this way he indicated his soldiers to surround the fortress and then seal every exit. The entire whole army went closer to the stronghold in order to carry out the command.Simon ordered his son to supervise the soldiers he brought from the Ksani fortress.

-I and my 4 scouts will keep an eye on rest of the soldiers,go now to one of the exits.Seal it and if you see an Ottoman janissary, just kill him.

-Yes,father!-Giorgi bowed him his head and went towards his soldiers.

Soon, the whole army sieged the targeted fortress.Simon looked up and spotted Ottoman janissaries looking from the windows. The king was meticulously observing their movements in order not to miss anything suspicious. The Ottomans were looking at the army that surrounded the fortress for a while.Afterwards, something totally abrupt occurred. The janissaries lifted their comrades and threw them away from the windows.Simon was perplexed.

-"What the hell is going on?"-He pondered.

The Ottomans were throwing the corpses for several hours.Simon noticed, that they got rid of thousands of corpses.Below, there was the yard. There were janissaries and when those corpses fell on them, they yelled:

-We are under the corpses, help us to get up!

Simon and Giorgi could speak Ottoman Turkish fluently and comprehended everything.Simon looked at his soldiers and told them in Persian:

-The Ottomans are dying from hunger. They are running out of the provisions. This is why they had been coming out from the fortress and pillaging Georgian villages. Now,we won't allow them to do this!Is every exit closed,my soldiers?

-Yes,as you ordered,we sealed each of them.Nobody will be able to come out.-Answered one Iranian soldier.

-Well done! Now,we will observe the current and upcoming situations here.Let's see, what will the Ottoman conquerors do in case they are abandoned.

Finally, the conquerors were done throwing the corpses away and they closed the windows.Only 700 Ottoman soldiers were left in Tbilisi stronghold. In the beginning, there were 70000 janissaries, but extreme hunger slaughtered most of them.
