Chapter 38 - Episode 38 – The Vault of Truth

🖤 Contract of Blood and Love 🖤

The underground chamber shook as the hidden vault slowly opened.

Metal groaned against stone.

Dust filled the cold air.

Everyone stared at it in silence.

Even the gunfire had stopped.

Because whatever was inside that vault—

Had the power to change everything.

Standing protectively in front of Anaya Sen, Aryan Malhotra kept one arm around his bleeding shoulder while the other still held his gun.

Blood continued dripping onto the stone floor.

But his focus never left her.

Not even for a second.

Viktor's eyes remained fixed on the opening vault.

Years.

Years of searching.

Killing.

Destroying.

All for this moment.

Slowly—

The vault door fully opened.

Inside was not gold.

Not weapons.

Not money.

Just a single black case resting beneath dim lights.

Small.

Simple.

Deadly.

Anaya's breathing became uneven instantly.

Because the moment she saw it—

Another memory hit her.

A younger version of herself.

Her father kneeling in front of the same case.

His hands shaking.

"Promise me you'll never open this for anyone."

Her chest tightened painfully.

"Aryan…" she whispered weakly.

He looked at her immediately.

"What is it?"

Tears gathered in her eyes.

"My father…"

Her voice cracked.

"He was scared of this."

Viktor stepped forward slowly.

"Move aside."

Aryan instantly raised his gun again.

"Take another step."

The warning was enough to freeze the room.

Viktor's expression hardened slightly.

"You can't protect her forever."

Aryan's eyes turned colder.

"Watch me."

The tension between them became unbearable.

Then suddenly—

Anaya moved.

She stepped out from behind Aryan.

"Anaya—"

But she gently grabbed his hand first.

Stopping him.

Her fingers intertwined with his for the first time willingly.

Not out of fear.

Not for safety.

Choice.

Aryan went still.

She looked up at him softly.

"You're hurt because of me."

His jaw tightened immediately.

"Don't."

"But it's true."

Aryan's voice dropped lower.

"I'd do worse."

The raw honesty in his tone made her heartbeat shake.

For a moment, the world around them disappeared again.

Only him remained.

The man who kept bleeding for her.

Fighting for her.

Protecting her.

Even when he had every reason not to.

Anaya stepped closer slowly.

Then whispered—

"Why?"

Aryan looked at her silently.

As if fighting himself.

Fighting the truth.

But this time—

He lost.

His hand slowly rose to her face.

Gentle.

Careful.

Like she was something precious.

"Because I can't lose you."

The words shattered the last wall between them.

Anaya's eyes filled instantly.

Aryan leaned his forehead lightly against hers.

His voice rough now.

"You walked into my life like a disaster…"

A faint broken smile touched his lips.

"And somehow…"

"…you became the only thing I care about."

Her breath caught completely.

Emotion flooded her chest so hard it almost hurt.

"Aryan…"

But before she could say more—

CLAP.

CLAP.

CLAP.

Slow applause echoed through the chamber.

Both of them turned instantly.

Viktor was smiling again.

Cold.

Amused.

"Beautiful."

His eyes darkened.

"And incredibly foolish."

Aryan immediately pulled Anaya behind him again.

Then—

Suddenly—

A gun clicked behind Aryan's head.

Everyone froze.

Anaya's eyes widened in horror.

Standing behind Aryan…

Gun aimed directly at him…

Was one of his own men.

Raghav.

Alive.

Aryan's expression turned dangerously still.

"You."

Raghav smirked slightly.

"Miss me, Boss?"

Anaya stared in shock.

"But… you died…"

Raghav laughed softly.

"No."

His eyes shifted toward Viktor.

"I switched sides."

The betrayal slammed into the room like another explosion.

Aryan's voice became ice cold.

"You betrayed me twice."

Raghav's finger tightened slightly on the trigger.

"You taught us loyalty through fear."

Then he glanced at Anaya.

"But her?"

A bitter smile appeared.

"You were ready to burn the world for her."

Aryan didn't deny it.

Didn't move either.

Because one wrong move—

And the gun behind his head would fire.

Viktor slowly walked toward the vault.

Finally.

After all these years.

But just as his hand touched the black case—

Anaya suddenly remembered something else.

Something terrifying.

Her eyes widened instantly.

"NO!"

Everyone turned toward her.

Her voice shook as she screamed—

"Don't open it!"

Viktor paused.

Suspicion flashed in his eyes.

"Why?"

Anaya's breathing became frantic.

"Because it's not data…"

Silence.

Then she whispered the truth.

"It's a kill switch."

The entire room froze.

Even Aryan's eyes widened slightly.

Viktor stared at her.

"What did you say?"

Tears rolled down Anaya's face as the final memory returned.

"My father didn't steal the chip to sell it…"

Her voice broke.

"He stole it to stop them."

Viktor slowly stepped back from the case.

For the first time—

Real uncertainty appeared on his face.

Because if Anaya was telling the truth—

Then opening that vault…

Could destroy far more than an empire.
