Three months after the wedding, Camille woke to the sound of rain.
Soft.
Steady.
Peaceful.
She opened her eyes and found Dante already awake, lying beside her with his phone in one hand.
She frowned.
"You said no work in bed."
He looked at her.
"I said I wouldn't work before breakfast."
"It's seven in the morning."
"Exactly."
She reached over and took the phone from him.
"Go back to sleep."
He stared at her.
"You just stole my phone."
"Yes."
"Give it back."
"No."
"Camille."
She smiled and tucked the phone beneath her pillow.
"You can have it after breakfast."
Dante stared at her for several seconds.
Then a slow smile appeared.
"You've become very bossy."
"I learned from you."
He laughed.
"Come here."
She moved closer.
He wrapped his arms around her.
For a few minutes, they simply listened to the rain.
It was strange how ordinary mornings had become their favorite thing.
No emergencies.
No unexpected visitors.
No secrets.
