No one moved after Dante said it.
"They're already inside."
The words didn't echo.
They didn't need to.
They stayed heavy, suffocating, pressing into the silence like something alive.
The girl let out a shaky laugh that didn't sound like her. "Okay… I'm going to need you to explain that better because that sounded very, very bad."
Dante didn't respond immediately.
And that
That pause
It made everything worse.
Victor's voice came low, controlled. "Define inside."
Dante's gaze didn't leave them.
But it wasn't really on them either.
It was like he was looking through something.
Tracking something.
Feeling something they couldn't.
"They're not just in the building," he said slowly.
A beat.
"They're in the system."
Camille's signal flickered sharply. "That's not new"
Dante cut her off.
"And through the system…"
A pause.
"They're reaching us."
Silence.
The girl blinked. "No. Nope. I reject that explanation."
Victor didn't.
