Chapter 50 - Chapter 50 48 Hours Before the Clash

The tension across Crown Meridian Academy had changed.

Two days before the regional state match, the campus felt different.

More serious.

More intense.

Students talked about only one thing.

Crown Meridian vs Westbrook Elite Academy Youth.

Inside the football locker room the atmosphere was quiet but focused.

Adrian Monteiro sat tying his boots slowly.

Across from him Rafael Navarro leaned back against the locker casually spinning a football on his finger.

Tyler walked in holding his phone.

"You guys need to see this."

Adrian looked up.

"What now?"

Tyler turned the screen toward them.

A sports page had posted a preview for the match.

The headline read:

"STATE REGIONAL CLASH: CROWN MERIDIAN VS WESTBROOK ELITE."

Below the title were two pictures.

One of Adrian.

One of a Westbrook striker.

Tyler whistled.

"They're already comparing players."

Rafael leaned forward slightly.

"Show me."

Tyler scrolled.

The article described Crown Meridian's recent victory.

Hat trick.

Two assists.

Seven goals scored.

Then it moved to Westbrook Elite.

"Undefeated in their last six matches," Tyler read aloud.

"Average goals per game… four."

Rafael raised his eyebrow.

"Not bad."

Adrian remained calm.

But inside he felt excitement building.

This was the type of challenge he wanted.

System Activation

The familiar panel appeared inside his mind.

Adrian smirked slightly.

Good.

A real challenge.

Tactical Practice

Coach Ramirez gathered the team on the training field.

The white tactical board stood beside him.

"Listen carefully."

The players formed a circle.

Coach Ramirez pointed at a formation drawn on the board.

"Westbrook Elite's biggest strength is their forward line."

He tapped three positions.

"Fast wingers."

"Strong central striker."

"Quick transitions."

Tyler raised a hand.

"So basically they attack a lot."

Coach Ramirez nodded.

"Yes."

Then he pointed toward Adrian and Rafael.

"That means our counter attacks must be deadly."

Rafael cracked his knuckles.

"I like that plan."

Coach Ramirez continued.

"When we steal possession… we attack immediately."

He drew an arrow across the board.

"Tyler feeds the ball forward."

"Rafael creates space."

"And Adrian finishes."

The players nodded.

Because when Adrian finished…

Goals usually followed.

Practice Match

Coach Ramirez blew his whistle.

"Split teams!"

The squad quickly divided into two sides.

Adrian and Rafael stood together in attack.

Tyler positioned himself behind them in midfield.

The whistle blew again.

Training match started.

Fast passes moved across the field.

Defenders pressured hard.

Midfield battles became intense.

Then Tyler stole the ball.

He looked up immediately.

Adrian was already sprinting.

Tyler launched a perfect through pass.

Adrian controlled it instantly.

One defender rushed forward.

Adrian shifted the ball to his left.

Then fired.

The ball slammed into the net.

The practice scoreboard displayed the score.

1-0

Tyler pumped his fist.

"Too easy!"

Rafael laughed.

"Again."

The match restarted.

A few minutes later Rafael received the ball near the edge of the box.

He passed to Adrian.

Adrian flicked it back instantly.

Rafael blasted the shot.

Goal.

2-0

Coach Ramirez nodded approvingly.

"That's the chemistry I want."

The training match continued another twenty minutes.

Both strikers moved like predators hunting together.

Quick passes.

Fast movement.

Deadly finishing.

By the end of the session the practice score stood at:

5-2

The team's confidence grew stronger.

Valentina's Visit

After practice Adrian walked toward the sidelines where Valentina Rousseau stood waiting again.

She handed him a water bottle.

"You're improving every day."

Adrian drank some water.

"Training helps."

Valentina tilted her head.

"You're excited for the match."

"Of course."

She studied his expression carefully.

"You're not nervous at all."

Adrian smiled slightly.

"Should I be?"

Valentina stepped closer.

"Westbrook Elite is dangerous."

Adrian leaned slightly toward her.

"So am I."

She laughed softly.

Then kissed his cheek quickly.

Tyler shouted from the field again.

"PUBLIC AFFECTION ALERT!"

The team burst into laughter.

Valentina rolled her eyes.

"Your teammates are children."

Adrian shrugged.

"Mostly Tyler."

Somewhere Inside Westbrook Elite

Across the city inside a modern training complex…

A group of Westbrook players studied video footage.

One of them paused the screen.

Adrian's goal appeared again.

The chip.

5-4

A tall striker folded his arms.

"So that's Adrian Monteiro."

Another player nodded.

"Hat trick last match."

The striker smiled slightly.

"Interesting."

He stood up and grabbed a football.

"Let's see if the Crown Meridian predator survives when the hunters arrive."

Evening

Later that night Adrian sat outside on the mansion balcony again.

The Miami skyline glowed beneath the stars.

His phone buzzed.

A message from Valentina.

48 hours.

Adrian typed back.

We win.

Her reply came instantly.

Score a hat trick and I'll kiss you again in front of everyone.

Adrian laughed quietly.

Inside his mind the system activated once more.

[SYSTEM: THE APEX PREDATOR]

[MATCH COUNTDOWN: 42 HOURS]

TARGET PERFORMANCE REQUIRED

Adrian looked out across the city lights.

The next match would be different.

Stronger opponents.

Higher pressure.

But the Apex Predator thrived in dangerous territory.

Will Adrian dominate Westbrook Elite Academy Youth and prove he is the most dangerous striker in the state?
