If Evie hadn't been quick enough to catch her balance, she would have fallen backwards, perhaps landing on her butt or even worse, hitting her head on the ground.
Thankfully, her instincts kicked in, and she managed to stay upright.
She let out a brief, sharp sigh of relief to steady her racing heart.
She whipped around to face the person who had nearly sent her sprawling, her gaze icy and her temper flaring. If the person responsible had any idea of the trouble they were about to face, they wouldn't have dared to cross her path.
Standing before Evie was a young girl, no older than twenty or twenty-one. The girl peered closely at her, studying her features before asking,
"You look strangely familiar... You look just like my cousin's boyfriend and his mother. Is there any way you're related to them? Quick, tell me your name?"
