The voice was laced with a dark, cold chill that made both him and Jessica tremble as they looked toward the doorway. They couldn't believe someone had dared to eavesdrop on their conversation for so long, only to interrupt them in the end.
Lucas thought he had ordered the hospital staff not to let anyone near Jessica's ward. Because of the scheming scandal he had fabricated about Evie injuring Jessica's entire body, he couldn't believe the staff had failed to do their jobs.
Before their eyes reached the door, their only thought was to deal harshly with whoever had listened in on their private discussion.
However, when their gaze finally landed on the intimidating figure standing there, his face set in a wild, unfriendly look, they were instantly seized by panic.
Lucas and Jessica, who had just been wearing dangerous expressions, immediately shifted their demeanor to act soft and humbly surprised.
