Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: The Hidden Power

After training, Tenzin went back to his room.

He lay down on his bed to rest for a while. After some time, he woke up and looked at the painting he had been working on.

It was a painting of Anwesha.

He had drawn her beautifully.

Suddenly, Tsering's voice came from outside.

"Tenzin! Your friend is here!"

Tenzin sat up immediately.

Friend? he thought.

Is it Anwesha?

He rushed out of his room and walked into the living room.

There he saw Anwesha talking with Tsering.

Tenzin walked closer.

"Tsering, you didn't tell me about your new friend," Tsering said with a small smile.

"I was going to tell you, brother," Tenzin replied.

Tsering nodded.

"Alright. You two have a seat. I'll make some coffee."

Anwesha quickly shook her head.

"No, it's okay," she said. "Actually, I wanted to take Tenzin out for a while… if that's okay with you."

She hesitated for a moment before adding,

"It's my birthday today."

"Oh! Happy birthday," Tsering said with a warm smile.

Tenzin looked surprised.

He didn't know it was her birthday.

Tsering looked at him and nodded.

"Tenzin, you can go with her."

"Thank you," Anwesha said politely.

She grabbed Tenzin's hand and pulled him outside while thanking Tsering again.

Anwesha rode her bicycle, and Tenzin sat behind her.

She took him to the same place where they always met to paint.

When they arrived, Tenzin looked surprised.

Anwesha had prepared something there.

A small mat was spread on the ground beneath the large tree. On it were a small cake and a bottle of juice.

"Come, sit," Anwesha said.

Both of them sat down on the mat.

Tenzin looked at her.

"Why didn't you tell me it was your birthday before?"

Anwesha looked at the cake quietly.

"I haven't celebrated my birthday since my grandmother passed away," she said softly.

Then she smiled at him.

"But today I thought… maybe I could celebrate it with you."

Tenzin felt a little sad hearing that.

"If you had told me earlier," he said, "I would have brought you a gift."

Anwesha looked at him and smiled warmly.

"Our friendship is already a gift for me."

Tenzin smiled back.

Anwesha cut the cake, and Tenzin happily sang a birthday song for her.

They laughed together while eating cake and drinking juice.

For a while, they forgot about everything else.

After finishing the cake, both of them lay down on the mat and looked up at the beautiful sky above the tea gardens.

The clouds slowly moved across the sky as the wind gently passed through the tea plants.

For Tenzin, it was one of the happiest moments of his life. They lay quietly on the mat beneath the large tree, watching the sky above them. Soft clouds drifted slowly across the blue, and the wind moved gently through the endless rows of tea plants.

For a while, neither of them spoke.

Then Anwesha broke the silence.

"My grandmother died when I was twelve," she said softly, still looking at the sky.

Tenzin turned his head slightly and listened.

"She used to celebrate my birthday every year," Anwesha continued. "All the neighbors and my childhood friends would come. The house would be full of laughter."

A small smile appeared on her lips as she remembered those days.

"I was very happy with her."

Her smile slowly faded.

"I had never met my parents while I was living with my grandmother. But after she died… someone came to me and said my mom and dad had come to take me with them."

The wind moved gently around them.

"They brought me here," she said quietly.

Her voice became softer.

"Every morning they leave for work… and every evening they come back drunk."

Tenzin remained silent.

"They fight all the time," she continued. "They shout at each other… smash things… and break everything in the house."

She looked away.

"I just stay in my room."

Her voice trembled slightly.

"I never had the chance to make any friends here."

After a moment, she turned her head and looked at Tenzin.

"They never cared about me."

There was a short silence between them.

Then she asked softly,

"What about you? What's your story?"

Tenzin looked up at the sky for a moment before answering.

"Me…" he said quietly.

"I've never seen my mother or father."

He smiled faintly.

"I've never even asked my brother about them."

He turned and looked at her.

"My brother has always been there for me."

His voice was warm.

"He's been my father, my mother, my brother… and my best friend."

Tenzin's eyes softened.

"For me… he is everything."

"And for him… I'm everything."

Anwesha looked back up at the sky.

"I wish I could say the same thing," she whispered.

A quiet silence fell between them again.

Tenzin slowly turned his head toward her.

At the same moment, Anwesha turned toward him.

Their eyes met.

For a moment, neither of them spoke. They sat together under the tree until the evening.

The sky slowly turned golden as the sun began to set behind the hills.

After a while, Anwesha sat up and said,

"There is a fair in the downtown area today. Do you want to come with me?"

Tenzin looked interested.

"Okay," he said. "But first I need to ask my brother."

Anwesha nodded.

"Alright. If your brother says yes, we'll go together."

They packed Anwesha's bag and walked toward Tenzin's house.

When they reached the house, Tenzin stopped near the door.

"You wait here," he said. "I'll come back after asking my brother."

Anwesha nodded and stayed outside.

Tenzin went inside the house.

Tsering was sitting in his room, reading the old book that the messenger's daughter had given him. As soon as he saw Tenzin enter, he quickly closed the book and set it aside.

"You're back," Tsering said.

"Yes," Tenzin replied.

He hesitated for a moment before speaking again.

"Brother… can I go to the downtown fair with my friend?"

Tsering looked at him for a few seconds.

Then he nodded.

"Sure."

Tenzin's face lit up with happiness.

He rushed forward and hugged Tsering tightly.

"Thank you, brother!"

Tsering smiled slightly.

"It's okay," he said. "But be careful."

His voice became serious.

"Don't let anyone know about you… or your powers."

Tenzin nodded quickly.

"Yes, brother."

He happily ran outside to Anwesha.

A few moments later, Anwesha rode her bicycle down the road, with Tenzin sitting behind her.

Together, they headed toward the downtown fair, excited for the night ahead. The fair was full of people.

Bright lights filled the night, music played from every direction, and laughter echoed through the air.

For Tenzin, it was overwhelming.

He had never seen so many people in one place before.

His eyes lit up with excitement as he looked around at the colorful stalls, glowing lights, and moving rides.

"This is amazing…" he whispered.

Anwesha smiled, watching his reaction.

First, they went on the rides together.

They sat on the giant wheel, rising slowly above the fair, where the whole place looked like a sea of lights below them.

Then they rode the carousel, laughing as it spun around.

After that, they tried the roller coaster, and Tenzin couldn't hide his excitement.

For the first time, he was experiencing a world he had only imagined.

Later, they played games.

At a ring toss stall, Tenzin focused carefully—and won.

He picked up a big teddy bear and handed it to Anwesha.

"This is for you," he said.

Anwesha's eyes widened in surprise.

"Really?"

Tenzin nodded.

She hugged the teddy bear tightly, smiling.

"Thank you."

They spent hours together, laughing, walking, and enjoying every moment.

For the first time, Tenzin saw something different in Anwesha.

She looked… truly happy.

As the night went on, the wind grew stronger.

Dark clouds slowly covered the sky.

It felt like it might rain at any moment.

The fair began to quiet down.

Tenzin and Anwesha walked together along a silent road lit by soft streetlights.

Neither of them spoke.

But the silence felt comfortable.

Soon, they reached Anwesha's house.

They stopped at the gate.

Standing there, they looked at each other, their hands still gently holding.

"I had a lot of fun today," Anwesha said softly.

"Me too," Tenzin replied.

For a moment, time seemed to slow down.

Then Anwesha stepped closer.

She gently leaned forward and kissed Tenzin on the lips.

At that exact moment—

the rain began to fall.

Soft drops touched their faces as they both pulled back slightly and smiled.

They looked up at the sky, letting the rain fall on them.

Then they looked at each other again.

Anwesha gently held Tenzin's face, her eyes soft.

"Goodbye," she whispered.

Then she turned and ran inside her house.

Tenzin stood there in the rain, watching her.

He stayed there for a moment longer, smiling quietly.

For him, it was a night he would never forget.Tsering stood near the window, reading the old book.

Cold wind entered through the slightly open window, making the white curtains sway gently behind him.

His eyes moved across the page.

Those who drink human blood become far stronger than ordinary vampires.

They can transform into anyone they desire…

They can control minds…

By drinking blood, they can see a person's past…

They can even turn humans into vampires.

Tsering's expression grew serious as he continued reading.

But there are weaknesses…

They fear light… even the flame of a candle…

They prefer complete darkness…

And they can never become a mother.

Suddenly—

Tsering sensed something.

His eyes narrowed.

Without turning around, he lowered his head—

CRASH!! 💢💢

The window behind him shattered as three figures burst into the room.

Glass scattered across the floor.

Tsering moved instantly.

He turned and struck the first attacker, throwing him back before the others could react.

The second vampire lunged at him, but Tsering blocked the attack and pushed him aside.

The third came from behind—

Tsering spun and kicked him away.

The fight erupted in seconds.

Tsering moved with speed and precision, holding his ground against all three.

But then—

One of them stepped forward… and transformed.

His body twisted, bones cracking, fur spreading across his skin.

In seconds, he became a werewolf.

The creature roared and charged at Tsering.

Before Tsering could react—

BAM!

The werewolf slammed into him, throwing him across the room.

Tsering crashed into the wall and fell to the ground.

Blood dripped from his nose.

Before he could stand, two vampires rushed forward.

They grabbed his arms and pinned him against the wall, holding him tightly.

The werewolf stepped closer, growling.

It raised its claws, ready to strike—

Suddenly—

"STOP!"

The door burst open.

Tenzin rushed inside.

Without hesitation, he leapt forward and slammed into the werewolf, knocking it to the ground.

The room shook from the impact.

Tenzin stood up slowly.

His eyes burned with fury.

A deep, inhuman growl escaped his throat.

Then—

His body began to change.

Bones shifted.

Muscles expanded.

In seconds, Tenzin transformed into a werewolf.

But something about him was different.

More powerful.

More terrifying.

The werewolf attacker tried to get up—

Too late.

Tenzin lunged forward.

With a brutal force—

He tore the creature's head clean off.

Blood splattered across the floor.

For a moment, silence filled the room.

Tenzin stood there, holding the severed head in his jaws.

His glowing eyes turned toward the two vampires.

They froze in fear.

Then—

They let go of Tsering and ran.

But they didn't get far.

Tenzin moved like a shadow.

Fast.

Deadly.

One by one—

He caught them.

And killed them.

The room fell silent again.

Only the sound of heavy breathing remainedAnd within seconds, their bodies turned into ashes, scattering across the floor.

The werewolf's lifeless body, on the other hand, began to fade… dissolving slowly into the air until nothing remained.

Silence filled the room.

Tenzin stood there, breathing heavily.

His chest rose and fell rapidly, his eyes still burning with anger.

For a moment, he didn't move.

Then slowly—

his body began to change.

The fur disappeared.

His form returned to normal.

Tenzin stood there again… human.

His breathing was still uneven.

Then his eyes shifted.

"Tsering…"

Tsering lay on the floor, unconscious.

Blood had stained his face, flowing from his nose and mouth.

Tenzin rushed to him.

"Brother…"

Carefully, he lifted Tsering into his arms and carried him to the bed.

He laid him down gently.

Without wasting a second, Tenzin ran and brought the first aid box.

His hands trembled slightly as he cleaned the blood and treated the wounds.

Outside, the storm had grown stronger.

Thunder roared across the sky.

Rain poured heavily, and flashes of lightning lit up the room for brief moments.

After making sure Tsering was stable, Tenzin stood up and looked around.

The room was a mess—broken glass, blood stains, and signs of the violent fight.

He silently cleaned everything.

Piece by piece.

Until the room was quiet again.

Finally, he walked back to the bed.

Tenzin sat beside Tsering, gently holding his brother's hand.

For the first time since the fight…

his expression softened.

A single tear rolled down his cheek.

He looked at Tsering quietly.

"Please wake up… brother," he whispered.

Outside, the storm continued to rage.

But inside the room…

everything felt still.
