She caught Val in the mirror.
He was watching, His coat was still on. His hat rested on one knee. His eyes moved between her and the window at intervals that had nothing to do with the view.
She'd been thinking about how to use the morning since they left the house. Now seemed as good a time as any.
"The maids have been talking about this but now i see it," she said, keeping her voice conversational, the tone of someone sharing a mild amusement.
Val's eyes moved to hers in the mirror. Mrs. Hendry continued pinning.
