32. High Stake Battle At The Frontlines[1]
What stood before them was a ten feet, muscled figure with skin red like crimson. Its eyelids were sewed together by a thick, black thread-like substance. Its rough white hair fluttered in the wind, while two crooked horns stood firmly atop its forehead. The corrupt spirit energy that the Ravter Abomination emitted was so dense that it affected the surrounding environment.
The green grass beneath its feet was drained of all life, turning dark brown in colour. Aria, Duran, Hona and Baskiel were the only Gods currently available that could combat this monstrosity. The air went still, after which the Ravter Abomination jammed its fists together, spreading a red mist of death around the battlefield.
"Hohohoho, I didn't know I could do that. I wonder what else I am capable of," it said, stomping its feet on the ground.
It behaved like a newborn baby, unaware of its capabilities and wide open to surprise attacks. The red mist covered the entire battlefield, killing everything it touched. As for the other Ravter Abominations, immediately as they came into contact with it, their bodies disintegrated. A calm white glow began to shine from within the red death mist.
It came from none other than Baskiel. She held a white orb in her palms, from which came a white glow, erecting a barrier that kept the red mist from touching them.
"This is one troublesome bastard," Duran exclaimed harshly, his deep blue eyes glowing brighter. They watched as the red mist melted the other Ravter Abominations, and they knew that there would be serious consequences if they came into contact with it.
"Basky!.." Aria placed her hand over Baskiel's shoulder. "Can you dispel the mist?"
She asked, already knowing the answer to her question. The barrier expanded, clearing all the red mist in sight. She did it without breaking a sweat. After all, she was the impeccable Goddess of Purification, second to none when it came to healing and purification. "All done! Who do you think I am?" she tilted her head slightly backwards towards Aria.
Aria burst into laughter. "I expected nothing less from you." She stepped forward along with the others. With the mist now gone, they could commence their counterattack. "What did you—what did you—what did you do?" The Ravter Abomination said over and over again, stomping heavily on the ground like a child throwing a tantrum.
It squeezed its body in an attempt to create more red mist, but it failed—the red mist could not be produced anymore. "What did you do?" it repeated again for the nth time.
It was currently inside a purification barrier made by Baskiel. This unique technique of hers prevented the formation of impurities, or anything in particular that had been marked as an impurity by her.
But this technique had a few limitations, one of which was that it could not work on multiple targets and also could not purify an entity that had already been formed—hence the main reason why she couldn't just get rid of the Ravter Abomination. The mist was the real issue that needed to be solved; with it gone, the other Gods could fight without any worries.
Hona moved first, vanishing and reappearing behind the Ravter Abomination. "Azure Blade Technique, Wing Seven: Point Blank Strike," she drove her sword forward with lethal precision, plunging it into its arm.
"Hckkk… it's tougher than I thought." Her blade failed to pierce through completely, lodged halfway within its flesh. The Ravter Abomination reacted almost instantly, swinging its other fist in a concise circular motion, the air itself bending under the force.
"You… are very fast. I couldn't even hit you," it said slowly, realizing it had struck nothing but Hona's fading afterimage. She had already withdrawn before its attack could reach her.
Duran and Aria followed up immediately, unleashing a barrage of flaming attacks—blue and orange flames intertwining, coiling together as they encircled the Ravter Abomination in a blazing ring of destruction.
Hagrahhhhh! Corrupt spirit energy surged violently from its body, erupting outward in a heavy gust that tore through the flaming circle, scattering it like ash. Its white hair stretched unnaturally, hardening and sharpening into elongated spikes that shot into the ground and lashed outward toward Aria and Duran.
Each strand was as thick as reinforced metallic ropes—one clean strike from them would leave a fatal injury.
Hona's translucent blue blade was now dyed red with the blood of the Ravter Abomination. She flicked the blood away, letting it splatter across the ground, her crimson eyes locked onto the creature.
From her back, a pair of large wings extended—layered with pristine white feathers brushed with a faint blue tint. Each feather aligned perfectly, forming a presence both elegant and overwhelming.
Its hair shifted violently toward her, striking with lethal intent. She evaded every blow with absolute precision and flawless finesse, her movements fluid and untouchable. None of its attacks could reach her.
She spread her wings wide, and in the next instant, she vanished in a sudden burst of speed—reappearing beside the Ravter Abomination. Cold crimson eyes pierced into its very soul, her shoulders held firm and unwavering.
"Azure Blade Technique, Wing Two: Myriad Cleave." She wielded her blade with such terrifying speed that her hands blurred into obscurity.
The strike split the heavens themselves, cleaving clean through the Ravter Abomination's neck. Its head was severed instantly, the cut flawless—accompanied by a violent shockwave that tore through the battlefield, unleashing a roaring gust of wind.
Aria and Duran interlocked their hands, their spirit energies merging seamlessly. A star-shaped mass of flames formed before them, pulsating with immense power.
"Aria and Duran Special Technique: Flaming Rundo." They thrust it forward, the blazing construct tearing through the Ravter Abomination, engulfing it entirely.
Unfortunately, their profound teamwork was not enough to kill it. Its body began to repair itself instantaneously, flesh and bone reconstructing as if time itself bent to its will.
All gods and goddesses possessed INCA—the core of their techniques, the very essence of their divinity. If a god were to lose their INCA, they would be no better than a mere mortal—in fact, they would become even weaker and more useless than mortals themselves. As of now, the only known way to weaken a god was through the Apollix Seal, which stripped a god of their INCA for a minute or so they thought.
The Ravter Abomination suddenly plunged its claws deep into its own chest, tearing through flesh and bone before dragging out a rod-like structure soaked in its own essence. The moment it emerged, a familiar and terrifying energy radiated from it.They instantly recognized it.
"How did it get that…" Hona's eyes widened in shock, her voice tightening.
How did the Ravter Abomination even know they were Gods?
The battlefield fell into a tense silence, the air growing heavier by the second.
The battle had taken a turn for the worst, as the gods stood momentarily dumbfounded by this impossible revelation.
