Chapter 12 - Hunters [3]

"First sign this non-disclosure agreement document."

Anxin took out a piece of paper and it was made from the same material Satan had used for the contract. This aspect of the paper clued Noah in on how the paper would work.

Noah quickly read over the paper, which stated that he will talk about the information he is about to be told as long as the other party does not know. Right under that statement it stated that aside from the people in the vehicle right now he is only allowed to speak to other hunters about the information.

"So, what is it that you plan to tell me?"

Noah said when he put Hearth's Signature where it says 'sign here'. He then stretched out his arms to give the document to Anxin.

Anxin slightly stood up and took the document readily to look at the signature provided. Seeing the name he nodded and looked at Noah.

"You know about the mutations, since it is public knowledge. So to add on to that we never release the files on how the mutations happened."

Anxin said and looked out the window and paused a bit before he continued with a stern tone. It was as if he was in his own world before coming back to reality.

"We haven't confirmed where it happened but the forests are the cause of the mutations. There is some eerie black liquid oozing out of every mutated creature that leaves the forest. This never happened before the year 2020. Although we know what causes it, the scientists we have studying the liquid have found nothing. So, be careful when you are not with us hunters. "

Noah nodded to the new information given to him but was rather bothered by it. The reason for this anxiety is because of something he remembered from his past life. The black liquid that caused the destruction of 75% of his world, something similar yet not confirmed the same.

[I've checked, it isn't an anomaly from our world. It is entirely something different, almost as if it only exists here.]

Satan said telepathically to Noah and that helped relax him a bit. He looked at Anxin and thanked him for the concern and that he would be careful forward.

Anxin smiled at Noah's reply and gave a thumbs up before he got the attention of the other hunters.

The other hunters there had an odd glare toward Anxin that Noah could not figure out why. He felt a bit nosy but did not want to provoke anyone so he just watched in silence while the other hunters and Anxin talked about the mission.

Did they get into an argument or something? There is an awkward tension between them.

"Are you completely sure this is a good idea? You never know what those people could do, especially like last time."

Noah heard the man with black hair and green eyes say to Anxin. He remembered before his name was Eunwoo and he is the healer of this team, at least according to Noah's wisdom of gaming terminology. Noticing the stare Eunwoo looked at Noah and glared which made Noah turn his head sideways trying to avoid making eye contact.

Seriously what is going on, do they not like me? That must not be it, I just met them.

[I think he just doesn't like my cult.]

When he heard Satan he realized that it may have been that fact instead. Then he got curious about the matter. Before he could look back, Eunwoo , who had a hoodie that is black with the logo of the association, started to take it off.

"Tell me when you arrive I'll wear the artifact again when we get there. It is way too uncomfortable."

Eunwoo was currently wearing a plain white t-shirt. But what he said caught Noah's attention.

Artifact?

Noah was definitely curious on why a hoodie was an artifact. He looked at the hoodie now hanging on the chair's armrest and seemed to notice that it looked a lot like the one his sister wore.

So they were wearing artifacts? Wait hoodies as an artifact? Interesting invention, I do remember the memory from Hearth about artifacts, but it is rather strange. This must be an unreleased piece of information.

Noah was silently by the car window and put his headphones on while the other people there talked. The thing is that he was not playing music and instead was eavesdropping on the conversation with his eyes closed.

Eunwoo was quickly spoken back from one of the other members who told him that there could be a possibility of an anomaly appearing at any time and he needs to be prepared. After that Hazel, who was the one practically scolding Eunwoo, looked over at Noah to see if he was listening.

Lucky he has closed his eyes. Seeing the closed eyes and headphones she assumed that he wasn't and spoke again with a softer tone.

"The Hearths are crazy, you never know so just wear it."

This peaked Noah's interest but he had to keep his poker face and pretend to be listening to music.

Eunwoo paused and put the hoodie back on.

"Prepare to heal when we get there, just don't mess up again."

Noah wanted to hear more but it seemed as though things had calmed down. He checked the time at that moment to see that it was currently 6:30 in the afternoon or in military time 18:30.

From what he badly remembered the estimated time of arrival was 7:00 in the afternoon so he has about 30 minutes to kill right now.

Satan, can you hear me?

[What do you want?]

Explain your telepathy, we have 30 minutes till we arrive so it's better to get to know how to communicate with you.

[The rules are simple, if you want me to know something I will and if I want you to hear me it will happen.]

So you can't read my thoughts unless I allow you to? Pretty nice to have an automatic conversion. Also I've realized that you have adapted rather well.

[Can't say the same for you. You were in the hospital for a week after all. After the mission you have two days to pack and adapt for college.]
