Author's POV
"You're a strange girl, Jasper Jean," Ace said, his voice a low, dangerous velvet. But he didn't push it away.
He reached out, his gloved fingers breaking off a piece. "And stop calling me that. If the Black Blood hears you calling the Supremo a 'Thunder-Puff,' I'll have to execute them for laughing."
"But it fits!" Jay chirped, leaning her chin on her hands. "You're all stormy and dark, but you're just a big softie under those layers."
Across the table, Zein felt a sharp, sudden heat. She wasn't looking at the muffin; she was looking at the way Ace's guard had dropped—even just an inch—for this girl. She felt a gaze burning into the side of her head and turned to find Keifer watching her.
Keifer didn't say a word. He reached out and grabbed Jay's hand, pulling her back toward his side of the table with a possessive jerk. He didn't look at Ace; his focus was entirely on the girl who belonged to him.
"Focus, Jay-jay," Keifer murmured, his voice dropping into that gravelly tone that made the surrounding students shiver. He pulled a stray chocolate chip from the corner of her mouth with his thumb, his touch lingering until her cheeks turned a deep crimson.
"You're feeding the Supremo, but you haven't even finished your own lunch. Do I need to feed you myself?"
Jay's breath hitched. "I-I can eat by myself, Keifer!"
"I think of you talk like this only it won't happen," Keifer whispered, leaning in so close their noses brushed. "Stay in my space. The 'Thunder-Puff' can get his own sugar."
The following week was a blur of calculated rebellion. The two groups didn't just merge; they became a force of nature. Led by Jay-jay's infectious energy and Keifer's tactical brutality, they turned Hell University into their playground.
Every night, the group would disappear into the restricted sub-levels or the dense woods of the campus. The school whispered in fear as they vanished into the shadows, only to emerge the next morning without a single scar. No bruises, no cuts—just a terrifying, unified intensity.
The bond between Zein and Ace solidified into something unbreakable. They found themselves drawn into the warmth of the "Newbies," learning that survival didn't always have to be lonely.
The fire between them grew; they were rarely seen apart, a king and his protector, radiating a power that made even the Board hesitate.
The eighth day the chaos group enter the hu but something was missing Jay. She was not present with them. Her energy, her chaos was missing.
"Guys, where is Jay ?",Mia asked .
"Well she have a fever. And now resting in from.",Percy replied.
"Is it high fever ?",Zein asked.
"No, light. But Ms.Brave wanted to come for board meeting in fever. So Keifer pinned her to bed .",Felix said explaining them.
Zein noticed the way Ace expression changed. His eyes having comcern. But hiding it.
Ace navigated the dorm halls, his presence making lower-year students scatter like leaves.
He reached Jay's door and entered without knocking. The room was dim, smelling of lavender and sickness. Jay-jay was a small heap under a pile of blankets, her face flushed and her breathing heavy.
"Thunder-Puff?" she croaked, her eyes fluttering open.
"Go to sleep, Jasper," Ace said, his voice unusually soft. He sat at her bedside, picking up a cold compress that had fallen to the floor. He rinsed it in the basin and gently laid it across her forehead.
He stayed there in the silence, watching over her. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small piece of chocolate he'd saved—knowing it was her favorite. He set it on her nightstand. "Get better, Jay. The school is boring when you aren't making a mess of it."
As he watched her drift back to sleep, he realized he wasn't just protecting a student; he was protecting the heart of their new family.
Jay's POV
My head felt like it was stuffed with heavy cotton, and every time I tried to move, the room spun like a broken carousel. I remember Keifer being all " bossy "on me, forcing me to stay in bed while he went to class. I wanted to pout, but honestly, even my eyelashes felt tired.
I must have drifted off because when I opened my eyes again, the room was dim and quiet. I expected to see Keifer hovering over me with a thermometer and a lecture about my immune system.
But the shadow sitting by my bed wasn't Keifer.
It was Ace
.
The "Supremo." The guy who usually looks like he wants to strike everyone with lightning. My "Thunder-Puff."
He didn't see me wake up at first. He was just sitting there, leaning forward with his elbows on his knees, looking... human. The scary mask he wears around the school had slipped.
He looked at me with this quiet, intense worry that made my heart do a little somersault, even through the fever.
I felt something cold and wet touch my forehead.
He was being so careful, like he was afraid I'd break if he pressed too hard. His big, gloved hand was surprisingly steady as he adjusted the compress.
"Thunder-Puff?" I croaked. My throat felt like I'd swallowed a bag of marbles.
He stiffened, his icy eyes snapping to mine. For a second, I thought he'd go back to being the grumpy leader, but he didn't. He just sighed—a low, soft sound.
"Go back to sleep, Jasper," he murmured. His voice wasn't a command this time; it was almost a plea.
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small piece of chocolate, setting it on my nightstand like a secret treasure. "Eat this when you wake up. The school is boring when you aren't around to make a mess of it."
I wanted to tease him, to tell him he was being a softie, but my eyelids were so heavy. As I drifted back into the heat of the fever, I felt safe. I realized then that I wasn't just a "newbie" to him anymore. I was family.
And then, just as the darkness took me, I saw him notice the black envelope the Board had slid under my pillow. His gaze turned sharp again—deadly sharp.
"Rest, Jay," he whispered, his hand lingering near mine. "I'll handle the Board."
