Zayne made his way down to the garden, thinking over what to say to Iris as he handed her the flowers. Despite trying to slow his pace and settle his nerves, he reached the garden rather quickly and found Iris sitting alone, seemingly lost in thought.
"Have the flowers made you sad? I do hope not, since offering you more might just tip you into a full depression," Zayne said, announcing himself.
Iris looked up, startled since she hadn't heard him approaching.
Iris moved to make room for him. "No. I was only thinking of my family. I promise your flowers won't be the thing to depress me," she said, taking them from him and lifting them briefly to breathe in their sweet scent. "I didn't know you'd be arriving today, or I would have greeted you properly."
"My visit was a surprise to everyone, myself included," Zayne said, settling beside her. "If you don't mind my asking, what exactly were you thinking about your family?"
